Still a better love story than Twilight.

Hmmm, never did a Miranda romance in ME3. Does anything even happen?
Her role in ME3 is so insignificant that I just couldn't take her seriously as a romance.
A shame, really, because I did truly admire her.

And contrasting how important she was in ME3 to how absent she is in the game, and how her character can be seen to act out of character compared to how she acted in ME2 is very... disturbing.

This is why I have difficulty taking her character seriously in ME3. I preferred her ME2 character.
ME2 Miranda = badass no nonsense get the job done
ME3 Miranda = traditionalist - did she have a different writer?
ME2 Liara = LotSB end justifies the means.
ME3 Liara = traditionalist, idealist - different writer. WTF?
ME2 Tali = more pragmatic
ME3 Tali = more traditionalist
ME2 Jack = badass
ME3 Jack = traditionalist
Do you see a pattern?

I think Jack's still a badass, but she's become.. more like a highschool football coach. Still rough around the edges, but cares about more people now (she has the same writer btw. Unlike Miranda).
But I do see a pattern.. A general direction with Shepard and some of these characters.. they all took on more paragon qualities.

Miranda only has one thing going for her.
Well, two things.
Two big, round things.

It's not that she conforms more to a traditionalist style of character, it's more that BW just didn't seem to realize the potential narrative value her character held (and they did this for several characters). We still have her informed abilities in the game, but we never see anything, and her entire story revolves entirely around Oriana. BW it seemed, went out of their way to marginalize her character.

Really, it is the general simplifying of the game. They're making the game pretty much a straight black and white game when it comes to morality. I'm not saying everything was like this, but as far as RP'ing with Shepard (which would invariably affect other characters as well), it seemed to take a backseat to making the game seem cinematic and 'accessible'.

I thought Weekes was handed Jack for ME3 and he didn't particularly like the character either. Weekes was the other writer for Miranda in ME2.StreetMagic wrote...

Maybe it's a tendency for characters being passed around, that the new writers then want to make them (into their vision of) sympathetic.

This. Also Kaidan. Not that I personally dislike Liara.
I make it a point to always have Miranda killed during my ME3 gameplays.
