Please don't derail my Topic, just lay down your first impressions and discuss them.

When I first met Jenkins: I figured, "hey, a newbie who promises to look up to me and allow me to shape him in my deadly image", but alas he didn't live very long.

Kaiden: Same as above, except he wasn't a fellow soldier but a biotic, and thus couldn't where heavy armor, thus I kept thinking to myself, don't do anything stupid that get you killed.

Ashley: Cool, a damsel in distress, though why the pink armor? "I can't tell the aliens from the animals": Harsh, maybe, but very true indeed, I can see humanoid velociraptors and humanoid frogs walking around, along with weird, though harmless bugs, and a large creature that looks like a cross between a Elephant and a Gorilla. I like you, Ash.

Garrus: If anyone is going to betray me to Saren when the time is right, it will probably be this guy, because it is one of the most overused (not to mention lame) clichés around. The guy who verbally protests someone the most is secretly an ally to that same person. Boy, was I wrong.

Wrex: I kinda liked him from the start and hoped he would not do anything that would make me kill him. I also hoped that the other overused cliché (the one where the biggest badass of the group does stupid or heroic that gets himself killed) did not try to apply itself in this story either.

Liara: Very Naïve, though likable, it would probably be best to keep her in the toughest armor available and take her out only on the easier-sounding missions.

Tali: Please don't die, please don't die, oh, good you came prepared with a grenade. Tell me, No offense intended, but are you a cross between a Turian and a Human? Considering you legs and face...never mind. There is something... nice about that voice.

Wilson: Was obviously dirty; was hoping to tie up and interrogate later on... didn't get the chance.

Miranda: Have I died and done to heaven? Oh wait, she is making me go back to sleep. Oh, crap, she just shot a guy I was hoping to interrogate in the throat! What kind of person are you? I am starting to dislike you.

Jacob: A biotic you say? I hope you don't turn out like Kaiden (in more ways than one).

Jack dossier: I'll give this guy a chance, though I sure do hope I get the chance leave him behind in the prison; double-crossed, really? Is a simple transaction too much to ask for? Now I will be forced to confront this guy in a way I don't like. Jack: Wait, Jack's a girl? A type who single-handedly destroy a half dozen YMIR mechs? I gotta talk to her.

Okeer dossier: This guy is even older than Wrex, I sure hope he isn't too old for the job. Now we will never know. RIP. Grunt: Young and hot-headed, but controllable. He might turn out to be a makeshift son the same way Wrex became a makeshift story telling Grandpa.

Mordin: Quite the motor-mouth, in humorous kind of way. Probably best to just leave him on board.

Zaeed: A mercenary whose personal brutality seems to rival Wrex. I obviously will have to work for this guy's loyalty, but hey I am up for a challenge.

Kasumi: LOL, you really know how to make a statement with a double-meaning with your advertisement. I really hope your as nice as you sound...

Samara: Why you murdering B!tch! What did you do that for?! Instant Dislike, reinforced by how she openly states that she will murder the Security Officer if I don't find what she wants in the next 24 hours.

Legion: Hmm... A Geth that wishes to talk, I'll keep it so it can do so.

Thane: I was busy talking with Nassana, that interruption was rude. Plus if he does one more "up close and personal" assassination of a female, I will kill him myself.

James: And you are....?

Javik: An ****, but its understandable.

More details later.

I'll bite, i guess.

1. Jenkins: Cannon fodder. Seriously, there was something that just said "He's not going to make it" I didn't think it would be that soon, but I was right.

2. Kaidan: Oh cool another Sentinel, oh you have an interesting backstory? that's even better! oh...you just want to be friends...it's cool, I respect you but still, lighten up and have some fun (here's an Excedrin)

3. Ashley: Welcome aboard, but check the attitude ma'am. This is Mass Effect, not Sass Effect. They're not human, but they are sapient, no better or worse than us. remember that we're the newcomers here.

4. Garrus: Cool it cowboy, while I agree with you on the red tape, we're not bounty hunters or mercenaries, Are you any better than the one's you catch if you stoop all the way to their level? Do what is best, not what you can.

5. Liara: Smart, awkward, but not really interesting. And no, I'm not interested...still

6. Wrex: Speaking of Mercenaries, we have one, working for us, for free...umm sure. sucks that your race is dying, but you want to help, I don't know enough about galactic history to really make these kinds of decisions...

7. Tali: Could you repeat page 4, article 3, paragraph 2 of Quarian leadership again?

Alright let's go!

Jenkins: That sounds promising. *Sees full name* Richard L. Jenkins...yeah...bye buddy.

Kaidan: I wonder what this guy has against joker. Better not cause me problems

Ashley: she..didn't seem to need my help that much. She's better than me.

Garrus: lawful neutral? I like this guy so day, and please don't be sarens brother

Wrex: he is good to have around...but I if this guy raises a gun at me...(but by virmire I loved him too much to kill him)

Tali: Cool, an information broker. Seems legit.

Liara: she kind if creeps me out. I have never met an Asari I trusted before and this one is kind of nuts. ( back in the ship) GET OUT OF MY HEAD! :'(

Jacob: this guy is the only one in Cerberus I can trust

Wilson: yeah...traitor

Miranda: uhh...at least she can handle herself.

Zaeed: old school (wannabe) hero? At least he is experienced and funny.

Mordin: Yes.

Grunt: Violent and Krogan. Good!

Jack: Really? I don't want her on my ship if I can't trust her, and has can't trust me.

Thane: EPIC (says he is dying) What? Noo! :(

Samara: huh. Still can't trust any Asari. Too by the code no matter what.

Morinth: right..she's worse

Kasumi: interesting...not sure if I trust her yet but for now, interesting

Legion: So they aren't all bad...that's great!

EDI:kinda..overdoing it there BW. But at least she is likeable still

Vega: is that Fred? I accept.

Javik: if Anyone has the motivation it's him.

OH everyone now? K I'll go on

Jacob: too good to be true, a competent black guy who's not stereotyped...I'll reserve judgement. *plays loyalty mission* oh. oh dear...*reads romance threads about ME3* well damn...

Miranda: I was going to take you on a mission, but I'm still waiting fo you to get dressed.

Garrus: I thought we talked about rules...and btw, leave the impossible odds to a pro

Thane: so, why do I need an assassin on this mission?

Jack: psychotic biotic? two can play that game.

Mordin: intelligent, spiritual, looks at all the options and recognizes that everything won't be pretty, but it can be right.

Samara: This is my wonder woman. I wouldn't normally go for an Asari, but her strength draws me to her.

Morinth: No. Just No

Grunt: I know a guy you should meet.

Kasumi: the best thief in the galaxy is an Asian human...hmm...and again, why do i need a thief for this mission?

Zaeed: My ship, my rules. You created the Blue Suns. Think about all the people that have been hurt/ killed by your hand.

Legion: Yes. Just all the Win

EDI: Wish I had Legion

Vega: *ahem* I think I need some water...

Javik: Angry(er) Sten

Tali: Oh, I like her. Wait, she's not a romance option? Dammit.

Garrus: Where can I get that awesome visor?

Liara: Oh btw, I just killed your mom.

Wrex: Woah, now those are some scars.

Kaidan: Oh you're Canadian? Are you an Arcade Fire fan too?

Ash: Why did you steal your name from Bruce Campbell?

Jacob: Where did you leave your personality?

Miranda: Why are you so cold? Did Morrigan freeze you?

Mordin: Caffeine overdose?

Legion: Whatever you are Geth, you're now official property of Cerberus. Farewell!

Thane: I want that coat.

Jack: Yo dawg, I heard you like tattoos...

Grunt: A blue eyed Krogan?

Vega: Oh you want to stay on Earth? Ok, have fun.

EDI: Great, another robot.

I played ME2 first (big regret right there), and can't remember my first impressions of most of them.

However:

Miranda: Oh dear, cheesy over-the-top tight outfit and big ******.

Tali: Codex says these people might be robots? Don't seem to be.

Garrus: Looks like I'm supposed to know him. Oh well. (Damn playing ME2 first!)

I honestly don't recall my first impressions of anyone else.

Garrus - seems like a cool character (but Nihlus made a better first impression...)
Wrex - I want you on my team...now!
Liara -
Kaidan - boring
Ashley - pink armor? (and the character went downhill from there)
Tali - Ok, Mission Vao with an annoying voice
Miranda - interesting outfit choice
Jacob - seems nice enough
Mordin - a salarian squadmate, yes!
Grunt - I miss Wrex (but he grew on me)
Zaeed - generic badass (he also grew on me)
Jack - crazy...but nice tattoos
Thane - Hey, I actually liked Nassana
Samara - Scary...hot though
Legion - A geth squadmate? Excellent! But why is he wearing part of my armor?
Kasumi - fun character (Just enter you password for a fabulous prize package worth millions of credits :D)
EDI (ME3) - Joker will be happy

Kudos, OP. This could be interesting.

Since my Mass Effect experience goes ME2-->ME1-->ME3, I'll tackle this accordingly.

Jacob -
1st: (don't remember)
Now: token black guy.

Miranda -
1st: dat ass.
Post-ME2: strong, admirable, worthy of respect... but criminally misused (daddy issues) and underutilized.

Mordin -
1st: kinda awesome.
Now: just plain awesome.

Garrus -
1st: (don't remember).
Post-ME2/ME1: Overrated.
Post-ME3: Finally got good.

Jack -
1st: oh God, help...
ME2, half-way: I have dat-ass on my ship, but this hot mess of a character is alluring me more. NO! Must... resist...
ME2 completed: ..... nopecan'tdoit! *romances Jack* <333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333

Grunt -
1st: YES! THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT I NEED! A LIVING BATTERING-RAM!!!
Post-ME2/ME1: Disappointing. Nothing to distinguish him from other krogan post-rite, other than youth.
Post-ME3: Had his moment, which impressed me. Still, just a run-of-the-mill krogan in this setting.

Thane -
1st: Ooh, cool... an assassin.
Now: meh, mostly cliched fangirl fodder.

Samara -
1st: (Don't remember)
Now: wretched character; do not recruit.

Tali -
1st: ugh, get that c*** outta your mouth and speak clear.
Now: she's grown on me; I got over the voice w/ time; I find her character weak from a writing-standpoint, though.

Legion -
1st: forgot to activate, LOL!
Now: some issues, but a great friend to my Shep overall.

Liara (ME2, Illium) -
1st: nice figure; little soft-spoken, but that's okay.
Post-ME1: no, not a fan of this general archetype.
Post-LotSB: hmm... I can dig the new Liara.
Post-ME3: ... what happened?? Oh, Samara's writer happened. SMH.

Ash (ME2, Horizon) -
1st: ... what was that all about??
Post-ME1: awesome character, but Kaidan deserves rescue on Virmire more.
Post-ME3: I'm so glad I saved Kaidan. This college sorority girl is not the Ash I grew to like.

Kaidan -
1st ME1 Play: oh, you're that guy I killed? Well, it figures: you're boring.
2nd/3rd ME1 Play: actually, more interesting than I gave credit for, and way more bro than Garrus. Alright, you'll live.
Now: proud to call a friend to my Shepard.

Wrex -
1st: oh, you're that other guy I killed? No clue why. Oh, red/blue dialogue here. Good thing I have it.
Now: Top-10 favorite for HYR.

James -
1st (vanilla ME3): interesting, at first, but gets stale after a while.
Post-DLC: much-needed limelight in Leviathan and Citadel helps keep him "fresh;" life of the party, gotta respect that.

EDI -
ME2 (start): ah hell, an AI? Those things go bad in movies all the time. SHUT IT DOWN!!
ME2 (end): I was wrong. EDI is stoopid loyal and helpful. #1 crewmate on the Normandy.
ME3: oh, so I can take her with me on missions now? Awesome!

(I may be one of the only people around here that completely embraced EDI as a squadmate).

Javik -
1st: >.< ... this is really pushing what I can believe!
Now: convenient discovery will always annoy me a bit, but Javik is aces in every other way. Top-5 companion.

Kaiden: Eh.
Jenkins: Total Redshirt. I mean L. Jenkins?
Ashley: Eh, this'll go well.
Liara: She's blue, but eh.
Garrus: Weird looking, but cool enough.
Tali: Okay, I guess.
Wrex: Badass. Only one in here who deserves this title.
Miranda: B*tch. Total b*tch. I like it.
Jacob: Who's Jacob?
Mordin: This guy! He'll be the funny one.
Grunt: Cargo hold paperweight.
Jack: Crazy ****. This'll be fun.
Samara: Oh look, another asari. This one with an even more boring personality.
Thane: Needs shades.
Kasumi: Creepy.
Zaeed: Badass. We needed another one.
Legion: Desklamp.
James: You are? Do I know you?
EDI: Dafuq?
Javik: Badass with poetic lines.

Shepard: Space Navy Seal. What's not to like?

Jenkins: Jynx. Unfortunately, his red-shirt type of dialogue showed he was a goner. I still levelled him up before the cutscene :)

Kaidan: first I head him talk, I thought: "Carth Onasi!". He's cool, I like all the Alliance military characters in the game. Together with Ashley, my most used squadmate in ME 1.

Ashley: Shepard's 'love' at first sight. Tough, bold, a real survivor. she calls it like she sees it. When she disagrees with a decision, she says so. Only LI though the trilogy. I wasn't a big fan of the Phoenix Armor. Most used squadmate throughout the trilogy. Thank you for your great work, Chris L'Etoile. The conversations and character development were amazing.

Garrus: Very interestingly designed race, the character showed potential from the get-go. I liked the fact he was eager to go after Saren, another turian, but Shepard has the chance to keep him from becoming the foe they're chasing. Second most used NPC throughout the trilogy. Dombrow improved his writing when he took over.

Wrex: Essentially, an exotic-looking Mandalorian, with a compelling backstory. The character is imposing and threatening, but it looks like you need this kind of help for the difficult mission ahead. His character is deeper than it seems at first.

Tali: Commander Shepard, Alliance Navy. We're here to  rescue you. Her lengthy explanations of the Quarian civilisation reminded me of the new Battlestar Galactica (2003).

Liara: Mass Effect version of twi'leks :) Although she sounds innocent enough, she is the daughter of one of Saren's agents. Great to have a prothean expert in the team.

-------------------------ME 2--------------------------------
Jacob: Former Alliance marine. I´ll trust you, but not the people you work for. He's a good guy.

Wilson: Yeah, I knew you had shot yourself from the beginning.

Miranda: First person Shepard sees after the space magic resurrection. Big contrast between this scene and the next time you see her, shooting Wilson in cold blood.

Zaeed: pretty much a Mandalorian bounty-hunter (a la Canderous Ordo). Liked the guy.

Mordin: One of the most interesting and best written characters in the trilogy. Kudos to Patrick Weekes.

Jack: She needs anger-management therapy. I wanted to say "you can trust me, the ship has the Cerberus logo but I am not part of this terrorist organization".

Grunt: Perfect krogan warrior, let's open the tank without a security detail, what could possibly go wrong ;)

Thane: Chris L'Etoile wrote this character and it shows. One of the greatest squadmate "stage entrances" from the trilogy.

Samara: for her, the righteous end justifies the means. Introduced like an asari samurai of sorts.

Morinth: Murderous monster.

Kasumi: Why do I need a thief once I'm past the Omega-4 relay? The character design was interesting at first and she had  good powers, but this is a western RPG. I didn't like her jumping in the air in the boss fight like it was Dragon Ball.

Legion: Another nice surprise, and an amazing story introduction when he snipes some husks. Legion's characterisation is superb (again, thank you Chris L'Etoile)

-------------ME 3--------------------------

EDI: Well, the body she takes control of belonged to an assassing cyborg (Eva Coré) who just killed a lot of good people in Mars and tried to murder Ashley Williams. I thought it was unnecesary to give EDI an infiltration platform, but if they did, it could have been something more subtle.

Vega: Comes into Shepard's room and salutes. Who are you, man? Essentially a human krogan.

Javik: such an important character for Mass Effect lore should have never been DLC.

Special mention to Anderson for the short time you control him: he´s a Bada*s.

Femshep player as I am female. :) This explains my reactions a lot of times.
Jenkins:
First: Gung ho, untrained, why is he here? Oh Red Shirt, he'll die quickly to show how serious this is. Bye!

Kaidan: Yummy! I want! Romance him now!  What? I keep getting the brush off except after main missions? Noooo!

Ash: Excuse me? Chain of command? Shut your mouth, you say nothing I want to hear. I am the Soldier here, you can stay in the cargo with the Mako... You don't have skills I want.

Garrus: Him, I like. C Sec, very useful! Good armor, good shot, good tech skills. My Buddy! Night out with the boys, you're on board with Kaidan and me!

Liara:
I like archeologists. (Indiana Jones fan) Seems young and - wow, biotic and techy! Nice! Girl's night out missions!

Tali:
Fab accent, I like her. I like underdogs... Good skills, another for Girls' night out!

Wrex:
Muscle! Redundant systems, a quad, yeah, tough guy for real. I'll take you, you'll be good in a melee and people fear Krogns!  Not me though.

Jacob:
First:Cerberus is my enemy, you are not someone I will trust, ever.
Post: Gimme a break and stop only giving me flirty options for this moron! Token black guy, stereotype.

Miranda:
First: Cerberus is my enemy, I owe you nothing. I don't trust you. And get a real outfit! Sexy outfits on women since I am female, only say how unsure you are and ****** me off with you.
Post: Bliss! Real armor for her character at last! Not that I take her anywhere...

Thane:
First: Cute alien, not my type. An Assassin isn't that good for what I think the missions will be. Interesting back story, fun to chat to on ship.
Post: I like him, but he's not that good in what the missions actually need in my opinion.

Jack:
First: WTF?? A girl?  What the hell is she ... wearing?? Well, I'll try her out. Mouthy but interesting.
Post: Dry hunmor, quite fun. Pity she doesn't live up to her cut scene powers in game..

Mordin:
First: Oh man! I love this guy! He can make and upgrade weapons. My buddy!
Post: LOVE this guy, Gilbert and Sullivan! Didn't use him much but adored his character and kept visiting him to chat.

Samara:
First: WTH is she wearing? Ooh, I hope, but doubt, her skills are the same as a team member as cut scenes. Hope she doesn't want to klill me for going along with Cerberus for now, or stealing creds from crates... and wall safes...
Post: Nah, she didn';t live up to it, but she was very interesting the missions I had to use her.

Morinth: No.

Grunt:
First: Spent 30 minutes thinking over if I should wake him then did. I loved Grunt! My own special Krogan people pis*er off!
Post: Always a source of fun and amusement throughout the game.

Kasumi:
First: Thief could be useful. Like her.
Post: Using her more often now on 6th playthrough as never did before. Her cloaking is very useful.

Zaeed:
First: Gnah, I do not like you at all.
Post: I still don't like you.

Legion:
First: Interesting and I wakened him cos of the cut scenes. Loved his humor over the armor pieces he wore.
Post: I wanted him to survive ME3! He was crew!

EDI: OK with her.

Vega:
First: Hell no, muscle bound jar head.
Post: Can I kill him now, please????

Javik:
First: Woah! Liara will love him! Depressing sob! Good source of lor history.
Post: Fun to hear his  "We ate you primitives in my time," comments around the Citadel!

Jenkins: Good night, sweet prince.

Kaidan: Uninteresting boyscout. Definitely proved me wrong, and glad to have him as a friend to femShep through the trilogy.

Ashley: Someone who's obviously good with a gun. Fair enough. Too bad she wasn't developed as well into ME3.

Garrus: Alien space cop. Standard issue friend material, though not much to him there. Finally shines in ME3.

Wrex: Smartass brute that takes sh*t from no one, not even the space police. Liked immediately.

Tali: Nice kid. Hope you don't die somehow. The Hitchhikers' Codex has this to say on the geth: avoid, if at all possible.

Liara: Nice alien girl. Hope you don't die somehow. Now default LI.

Jacob: Another uninteresting boyscout. Stayed that way all the way to the end though.

Wilson: Cerberus red shirt.

Miranda:
Posted Image
No nonsense operative with an attitude and an accent. Liked immediately. Needed more presence and more than just her sister arc for ME3 though. Would definitely be my default romance option, but since this isn't an option for femShep, I guess it's just going to continue with Liara through LotSB onward.

Zaeed: Gruff merc that definitely enjoys his work? I approve.

Mordin: Fast-talking scientist/doctor that apparently kills mercs. Liked immediately.

Jack: Backtalking biotic b*tch and a half that requires the most effort to get to know. Liked immensely. Really wanted to have a bigger presence, but probably had the best growth in exchange.

Grunt: A super-krogan? Sweet! No real development in ME3, but still liked.

Thane: Fantastic entrance, but not a whole lot beyond that. Probably not going to use him for much of anything other than a side mission.

Samara: I definitely do not like the justicar code.

Kasumi: Not sure what good she's going to be. If the entire game was about robbing a casino on Bekenstein, then she would definitely be my go-to, but this ain't Ocean's Eleven in space.

Morinth: Find embrace in the goddess, lol.

Legion: Finally a helpful geth! Approved.

James: Who is this joker? He proved to be much more likable than I expected, especially as a buddy pair with Cortez.

EDI: ME2: Please don't be HAL. Please don't be HAL. Please don't be HAL. Oh good, not HAL at all.
ME3: Sweet! New robot squad member, and definitely has one of my favorite personalities in ME3.

Javik: You ancient fatalist troll. I approve.

Jenkins: I figured, "hey, a newbie who promises to look up to me and allow to shape him in my deadly image", but alas Classic "Red Shirt."

Kaidan: I didn't know quite what to make of Kaidan. He was supposed to be my close friend. I got that. I didn't mind his looks, I didn't even mind his lines, but that voice.

Ashley: Cool, I like you, Ash. Strong female. Finally some heavy firepower. I'm an infiltrator. She has an attitude. She's a bit anti-alien, then I find out about the "Williams Curse".

Garrus: Garrus, my buddy. This guy, I like. I hate Turians.

Wrex: I wasn't that taken with this guy. I thought he was kind of a big brute. Not someone I'd want to ****** off

Liara: Why? Drew. Why did you have to use the classic "Damsel in distress" Trope with this one? She's trapped in the a force field and can't get out. Oh and "Dr. Livingstone I presume." Okay, Drew. Can we please get on with this? It was totally unnecessary. She's smart, attractive. If Asaris have nerds Liara is the defining character, but she's far from helpless. Uh, Kaidan, I saw her first.

Tali: Tali.... on pilgrimage.... who happens to have the information.... that makes her the most important character in the entire story because without Tali, Shepard remains a nobody and a laughing stock.

Miranda: What the? How did I get here? Are you always this b*tchy?

Jacob: A biotic you say? You work for Cerberus? That's where I am? How did I get here?

Jack: Jack! You're crazy. Do your job and there won't be any trouble. But what made you crazy? Hey, you know going pirate might be fun.

Grunt: Well, not the sharpest knife in the drawer, and that's an understatement.

Mordin: Quite the motor-mouth, in humorous kind of way. Probably best to just leave him on board.

Zaeed: A mercenary whose personal brutality seems to rival... me. Let's get this guy's contract out of the way so we can go about being big goddamn heroes.

Kasumi: LOL, you really know how to make a statement with a double-meaning with your advertisement. I really hope your as nice as you sound... Can we knock over a financial institution later?

Samara: Snapped her neck with your heel? Sexy. I haven't been getting along well with the Eclipse mercs on this trip. Justicar code? Don't like that so much.

Legion: Hmm... A Geth that wishes to talk, I'll keep it so it can do so.

Thane: I was busy talking with Nassana, that interruption was rude. I might have gotten some money out of her. You could have waited for a money transfer. Maybe some defenestration might have been in order after that, but I understand you had a contract to fulfill. As far as Nassana goes? Good riddance.

James: And you are....? Hey.

Javik: While think you're interesting don't expect me to kiss up to you.

EDI: Well aside from the 1956 Cadillac bumper bullets... if we ignore the "sexbot" stuff and go to the personality we have one of my favorite characters in the trilogy.

Ooh, this is fun. I played ME2 first, so...

Kaidan: Who is this guy and why is he angry at me?

Ashley: I guess this is the 'action lady', huh. That suit looks silly.

Garrus: That reveal would have been way cooler if I played the first game. I've never met this guy before, but he says we're mates and I like the cut of his jib.

Wrex: Burly space badass who's smarter than he looks. We're gonna get along just fine.

Tali: Yes, I am glad to be alive. Who are you again?

Liara: Blue-skinned space babe. Apparently her being really angry and cold is a big deal.

Jacob: A cool black man. You and me, we gonna be tight.

Miranda: Condescending b*tch.

Mordin: Too good to be true. Ruthless and logical, yet also benevolent and sensible. The complete package.

Jack: Clearly, she's got issues. I'm open-minded, let's give her a chance.

Grunt: Yet another burly krogan, weirdly eloquent for being a newborn. Also, voiced by Steve Blum.

Thane: Cool, deep and sexy. I want you inside me.

Samara: Eh. Fair enough.

Legion: Shame we had to get him so late, because he's interesting and seriously cool. No way am I letting you go to Cerberus.

Kasumi: I got her after realising I needed her to avoid the crappy moral choice in the hanar mission in 3. She seems alright, but a bit full of herself.

Zaeed: Generic tough guy with a cool accent.

James: I was keen on him after seeing that interview with Freddie Prinze Jr, but his initial attitude lost me a bit.

EDI: In ME2: Oh, it's the exposition computer, fair enough. In ME3: Ah, so this is the robot body. Looks a bit silly, but we'll see how we go.

Javik: Sexy accent, cool attitude, a **** you can also sympathise with. I'm gonna love this guy.

For pretty much all of them, my opinions warmed up as time went on and I got to know them better. The exception was Samara, who I still feel is pretty dull.

First impressions? I'll just do a couple.

Ashley: At first, I didn't like her too much. The pink armor and the whole 'space republican' thing wasn't my cup of tea. This character has grown on me a lot though; I think she may be the best of the bunch from the ME1 crowd.

Wrex: Won me over with his dry sense of humor. I would have probably dismissed him as simply another example of the 'gruff badass soldier' archetype otherwise.

Mordin: Loved all the eccentricities, and pretty much everything about the character (as one might guess from my avatar). The most fully realized character in the series.

Grunt: So this character has no backstory whatsoever beyond "images from the tank," whatever that means. Would have rather had Okeer, Wrex, or even no Krogan at all (fewer characters means less stuff to deal with in the suicide mission).

Legion: An instant favorite for me. Loved the whole idea of the consensus and all of that. I don't think the N7 armor thing was the most well-implemented part of his characterization, but still, I thought he was pretty awesome all-around.

Javik: Hate to say it, but I didn't really like him all that much. The whole "I am the embodiment of vengeance" business was so cheesy and on-the-nose it just damaged the character's credibility for me.

Jenkins-Didn't think much of him, wasn't really bugged when he bought the farm.

Kaidan-Came off immediately as a level head, wasn't particularly impressed by him.

Ashley-Cliched "tough as nails" "no nonsense", boooooooooring. She had some high moments with her racism but not enough to really invest me in her. Bought it on Virmire.

Garrus-After meeting with the Council and Pallin I liked that there was someone on our side. He kind fell into cliche territory "young rookie wants to change the world" blah blah, he got better over time.

Wrex-Liked him from the start

Tali-Came off better than the other squadmates with some actual interest from me, but she became a talking codex entry after that.

Liara- *yawn* she ninjamanced me so she goes down as negative

Miranda-Hello........

Jacob-Another cool head but otherwise uninteresting, had some potential with his Corsair background, but nothing came of it.

Mordin-I liked his mission a lot and he won me over with his dialogu and he only improved. 10/10

Jack-Why are we putting her on a smaller confined area? I liked her a lot more after some dialogue, but first impressions? meh

Grunt-Wrex wannabe who got better

Thane-Spiritual assassin? Dime a dozen, but I came to like him

Samara-Another asari I don't want who hates renegades......... no

Legion-Interesting perspective and added some complexity....then came ME3 he gets sold now.

Kasumi and Zaeed- I didn't pick them up for a long time but I like both of them well enough. Zaeed has interesting stories and Kasumi is a fun addition.

James-Our resident Krogan. He turned out better than I anticipated but not exactly a very memorable character.

EDI-No, get back into the ship

Javik-We are gonna get along fine also

I swear, the very first thing I thought as soon as I saw and heard Jenkins was: "This dude's going to die. Early."

 Jenkins:
First - I thought he was going to die. I didn't think he'd die the second we saw a recon drone. So....yay?

Kaidan:
First(ME1) - I thought he was all right, not great, but all right.
First(ME3) - He handled things in a mature fashion. He touched my heart, he really did. And his better gameplay-ness didn't hurt either: He and Garrus became the bro-squad (Note: Someone needs to make fanart of M!Shep/Kaidan/Garrus bro-fisting. Calibrations and biotics optional but strongly encouraged). Could have used a teaspoon more chatter with Garrus and Tali.
Now - He's my bestie

Ashley:
First(ME1) - She fought back, so I'll forgive the damsel in distress bit. Took her along for the most part because she was pretty much plug and play, you could let her go and kill things.
First(ME3) - Might catch some flak from this, but I didn't mind the officer's jacket and the hair down. Just wish she put it up for combat. Needed more ship banter. A lot more ship banter. And no glitched Marksman
Now - I don't take her unless I romance her, but it's not because I don't like her. But she needs a modder to show her (and Kaidan, but mostly her) some love with some banter packs. Cue that picture of Shepard, Ashley, and Kaidan passed out on Shepard's bed!

Garrus:
First(ME1) - Kinda badass intro, but I just brought him along because I managed to find a lot of turian armor and he could unlock the damn crates.
First(ME2) - Nice to see him again, but wasn't enthusiastic. Okay with, didn't like
Now - Over the games, he grew on me. A lot. He's so cool and doesn't overplay himself. But I never romance him, I thought that came out of nowhere.

Wrex
First(ME1) - Eh, a giant walking dinosaur. Kinda funny on the elevators, but not worth sitting through the elevator to hear him. Thought he was a putz on Virmire, but free reputation check to talk him down.
First(ME2) - Nothing really to see here. Liked his ideas though.
First(ME3) - My opinion went down faster than a sorority girl and free beer. The morally vague, but necessary genophage became nothing more then cliche racism stories with Wrex around. And the Citadel DLC just made it worse.
Now: Wrex is swamp food on any playthrough I do. Unless I don't pick him up.

Tali
First(ME1) - A badass intro that disappeared into a faceless walker the second I put her in the party. At least she could also open the crates. Still, love that voice.
First(ME2) - I admit it, I can never refuse that hug. Even if the Renegade interrupt is grabbing her butt...And her voice...
First(ME3) - She's fun to have around.
Now - I have a file where I romance her, but I like it better when I don't. She's just a cool friend.

Liara
First(ME1) - Thought she was going to be nothing more than the designated love interest. That's pretty much what I got.
First(ME2) - What the hell was that "flay you" line. Benezia gave it in an awesome way, you just sound like you're trying to hard. And why am I hugging you, we barely spoke before. I know it's a fancy loading screen, but do we still have that decon when you go back on the Normandy from the first game? And I feel nothing from the Lair of the Shadow Broker, I don't even know why I'm there.
First(ME3) - Okay, you're back. At least you're not pretending to be a badass when you're not. You can benchwarm...why are you inviting yourself up to my cabin?
Now: I go right from Thessia to Sanctuary so I don't have to mope around. And why can't I have an option where I tell Javik that my pretend-2nd in command is acting like a 3 year old, rather then just say "She's having a bad day" Why the hell couldn't I blow this one up on Virmire? I'm pretty sure she could walk a nuke down a ramp and then get shot at by geth.

Not a squadmate but should be:

Kirrahe
First(ME1) - That speech of his was so corny and so hammy that it actually looped around and became something great. And you're a cool and awesome soldier.
First(ME3) - I want a Scorpion pistol. I want you in my squad. How many dalatrasses do I have to cut in two to get you on the Normandy? (Hint: seven)

Miranda
First(ME2) - I get it, we could plan the Omega 4 relay assault off of her ass, stop showing it to me. Even in the name of progress, people can do crappy things. But thanks for the scanner, planet scanning is annoying!
First(ME3) - You're a lot calmer, and ran off from Cerberus.  You're helping out, you're...oh my god, do I have to go back and romance you?
Now: She's fun. I always save her, no exceptions.

Jacob
First(ME2) - Don't I already have a Kaidan? The original model came with turian neck-snapping biotic-fu grip. What else do we....Daddy issues. Great, the only without daddy issues on my squad is the salarian and the ax-crazy biotic...wait, Mordin, you have a crazy student who looked up to...gah! Oh wait, Jacob. Huh...I got nothing.
First(ME3) - Nice to see a few badass scenes at least. Please keep your shirt on...good. Okay, nice cameo, thanks for introducing me to Brynn. My mind will now go somewhere dirty.
Now: Once Grunt wakes up and you give me that ship plating, there's nothing left for him for me. I level him up when I go grocery shopping on Omega.

Mordin
First(ME2) - You are the most (redacted swear) crazy guy I have ever met in my entire life. Why the hell weren't you in the first game?
First(ME3) - The funniest character in the game has the most tragic moment. I felt more for you than I did for all the asari on Thessia. Wait a minute, if I kill Eve and Wrex, I get you instead. Got do new playthroughs, brb!
Now: Why can't he come out to the Armax Arensal Arena? Or to my party?

Grunt
First(ME2) - I simultaneously want to hug you and watch you blow things apart with a shotgun. Probably in that order. Wait, I'm laughing too, and gameplay wise, you rock. I'm sold, you're awesome.
First(ME3) - I did not think you were coming out of that hole. Let's get the medigel, and a hose.
Now: I love you, Grunt

Samara
First(ME2) - She's looks like a queen, word chosen intentionally. Although how are your feet not in constant pain from those super-heels? She also feels the most alien, and we're in a sci-fi game, so bonus.
First(ME3) - I think I hit the paragon interrupt before I even noticed it. The reactions she had and the way she acted felt so real. Combination of writing, voice acting, and emotion, I was hooked.
Now: Sometimes I do the romance scene with her. Sometimes I don't. Either way, she always lives with Falere at the end of the war

Thane
First(ME2) - I figured he'd be the new female love interest, and so I soured initially. His profoundness shocked me. Still, sometimes have that glitch where the camera just stays on his face after you talk to him. As far as introducing a new race, I'm cool with drell
First(ME3) - I hated Shepard's line after Thane died. Everything about Thane, I loved. I wish more characters could have talked at his memorial.
Now: I can't get around Thane's death, and it makes me sad.

Legion
First(ME2) - Just like Samara, he felt very alien. His way of speaking, his actions. I figured a geth would join the party, but it was richer to have been Legion.
First(ME3) - I do wish I could have done more on the ship with him.
Now - He's not mentioned on the Citadel DLC. That's not right.

Zaeed-
First(ME2) - Let's just do this loyalty mission early and...I need a Paragon score to get your loyalty if I decide not to let you go insane? Well, at least you have good weapon damage and cool power.
First(ME3) - You grew up, I liked that. Citadel DLC, I laughed, and was sad when I knew it was Robin Sach's last tole. RIP
Now: I use him more in ME2.

Kasumi -
First(ME2) - A little too fun at the first introduction, but she grew on me. It's nice when everyone isn't so doom and gloom dour. I couldn't have gotten through Insanity without her cloaking and changing enemy targeting.
First(ME3) - this mission was a great way to involve her. And she was fun to boot.
Now: More Kasumi, please.

Vega
First(ME3) - Big meathead soldier who serves as the info dump for people who never played the game. Okay, I understand why. Hey wait, he's actually a little fun. Not to much, but fun
Now: I use him. Gameplay wise he works without any maintenance, and Freddie Prinze did a remarkably better job voicing him than I thought he would. But no Citadel DLC with him and Wrex, the shilling of the krogan drives me crazy

Javik
First - I thought he was a jerk, a really bad jerk who was just dillusioned and cynical Then I took him with me and saw the desperation, and the fact that even if he thinks we'll lose, he doesn't give up. And he tells off Liara, always aces in my book.
Now - He and Kaidan, biotic dream squad. And the Citadel DLC? For him, perfect.

You should play "Hidden and Dangerous", its especially fun on Co-Op mode.

Just checked the game you recommended, its deluxe version is offered for free by the publisher :)

The Deluxe Edition is a combination of both the Original game and its Expansion pack. It was re-released for free to celebrate the release of the game's sequel, Hidden and Dangerous 2.
