OK so I've been thorough to make sure I save everyone in the suicide mission.  I've just recruited my last squadmate, Tali (except for Legion obviously) and I've done every side mission I can.  The only missions in my Journal are 'Reaper IFF' and 'Stop the Collectors'. Now, The only loyalty mission I have left to do is Talis, but the game isn't giving me the option to do it yet, presumably because I need to complete at least one mission first, but I can't because I've done them all.  

So, if I go on the derelict reaper mission to get the IFF, will the countdown automatically start? Or does it only start once it's fitted? I want to do both Legion's and Tali's loyalty missions before I fit it. I want to do everything so that once I activate the IFF, I can go immediately to teh suicide mission and save everyone.

Obviously, you should have gotten Tali earlier so you could do a mission to advance her dialogue.

Here are some options:

a) if you have Kasumi, use her in the vents. Leave Tali and Legion behind at the Hold the Line segment and be sure to leave at least two of Grunt, Garrus and Zaeed behind as well. Everyone makes it out alive and you can do their loyalty missions afterwards.

Do the Reaper IFF and then talk to Tali. This will give you her loyalty mission. This will delay the kidnapping. Also talk to Legion before talking to Tali. This should give you his loyalty mission. If it does, then you can do Legion's loyalty mission followed by Tali's loyalty mission and you can even bring Legion along. Makes for a very, very different experience. If, for some reason, Legion does not give you his loyalty mission, do Tali's then go talk to Legion.

VERY IMPORTANT: do not use that galaxy map before you pick up a loyalty quest!

As long as you have loyalty quests active you can do two missions between the Reaper IFF and the kidnapping. So pick up the loyalty quests (either or both Tali's and Legion's) before trying to use the galaxy map.

Make sure you do Tali's mission before Legion's. Going to Heretic Station will trigger the crew abduction afterwards.

Ah, didn't know that Legion's mission would force the kidnapping.

Here is a third option that I think would work: if you have the SR1 DLC, go to Alchera and place the monument there again. This should count as a mission and let you pick up Tali's loyalty mission before doing the Reaper IFF.
