I'm not on a side really, but I was going to get a PS4 for the price tag.

Then I couldn't even afford the price tag.

So neither now.

Basically, when the consoles were revealed I spoke about both of them evenly. Even mentioning the X1 without saying something negative about it was enough for me to get hounded EVERYWHERE by people trying to make me get a PS4. It got to the point where I asked myself if I'd want to game with people like that- I don't. And since they're all headed in one direction, I went the other.

That's....not why you should buy a console.

PS4. Just about everything the Xbox has is worse than what the PS4 has.

I like how xbone is more expensive yet nothing shows why it needs to be at such a high price.

I think the built in Kinect jacks up the price. Could be wrong though.

It does help that I game on a 360 already, and enjoy Kinect. Before that I had a PS2 which was my absolute favorite console of all time.

But yes, that was why I made my decision.

It is true. The Xbox 1 is pretty much the red headed stepchild of the gaming community. They actually have an underdog dynamic now. Since I see both companies eventually switching over to a DRM/Completely digital mindset, I consider both of them equals at this point. However, the first (I'm going to be bold here) two years of a console usually are not anywhere near as good as the remaining years. Developers are still learning what these machines are made of, so any launch buyer should expect a plethora of buggy and overpriced games. Think what we are getting now except shiner and worse.

Anyway, someone can buy a console for whatever reason they want.

If someone likes slanted boxes over even boxes they can get a PS4.

If someone likes bigger boxes over smaller boxes they can get an X1.

Seriously, who cares.

Because making a decision based on the look or because other people were making justified criticism towards one

Is poor decision making

I just hope people ****READ**** Sony's policies and do research before they think that they are going to get a good ol' console that will never switch over to online DRM.

Neither and I think people should stop putting Sony on a pedestal, they're not the great benevolent company everyone seems to think they are. Has everyone forgotten how they behaved with the PS3? Besides, Sony only did what it did, because M$ was dumb enough to slip up, had no one complained about anything then they would've done the same. Better yet, had Sony done what M$ done, then everyone would be calling Sony the Devil and M$, the great savior, the loyal and faithful and the "benevolent company that cares about gamers".

The fact is that neither company gives a damn, they just care about what makes money. I'll stick to PC, Let the console overlords fight each other all they want.

If I were to buy a console at launch I'd go PS4, but since I'm not doing that I'll take the wait a see approach for now.

Sorry, justified criticism isn't making a fuss anytime someone mentions they are open to getting either console.

It also isn't justified criticism when this very exchange we're having right now wouldn't be happening if I said I was getting the other console because of the same reason.

I think you're madder than your username suggests if you think that either Sony or MS will force always-online mid-generation. That's not something you do to an established install base. It's business suicide.

Any major policy changes to the definition of game and console ownership would have to be introduced in a new generation.

Oh I think they're both capable of that. I can see that happening easily without the introduction of a new gen.

Xbox One.

No ishts given.

This.

The amount of ignorance in this thread is astounding, but let's just forget about fanboyism for a minute and recognize that we're all gamers and allowed to like what we like. That sound good? It does to me.

No point judging each other. Both consoles are top-of-the-line as far as game consoles go and will rock the next generation just as PS3 and 360 did.

That's not to say that it won't be incredibly easy for them to build their consoles to allow game developers to do so if they choose to do it. And really, other than CDPR, what major game company has come out and said that they will actively fight always-on DRM. This is a copy-cat industry, and if it ends up working for EA, and if Sony and Microsoft provide developers with the means to do so, then many game companies will switch to these policies with little or no blame placed on Sony and Microsoft. That's not to say that both will actively seek this, but they can create policies that are either vague enough or changeable enough to allow for such practices to be easily used.

Its a business, they'll do whats best for them. Or what they think is best for them. They'll weigh pros and cons and if in their mind its worth it, they'll do it whenever it suits them.

Basically, this. Everyone's a winner regardless of what they sink their money into.

At any rate, if the consoles are worth buying, then I am buying the one that the majority of my friends are buying. Gaming is more fun with friends.

Because said thing is being done via a patch, a patch can be undone anytime. There is nothing stopping M$ from returning to their dream when they have what they want.
