The Xbone came out today. I was not surprised when it came with an external power supply. Just like the 360 and the "real" Xbox One, its a friggin box!!! The PS4 looks amazing and a lot more different than the PS3. The Xbox One's launch titles are better than the PS4's in my opinion, but the PS4 has a lot more freedom and versatility for developers, especially independent developers. The PS4 is more centered around games, the Xbox One is centered around entertainment and your TV. In the end, what do you buy a GAMING CONSOLE for? To play video games, not multitask and watch reruns of House while playing a game.

Apparently the Xbone is having issues.

So far, mine isn't having issues. But yeah, the Xbox One is having a few issues at launch for some folks, much like its PS4 brother.

So far, too early to tell if anything's a big deal for either side. It seems any issues/errors are small time things that are few and far between, nothing on the scale of the Red Ring of last gen.

Anyway, as for the power brick being outside- I like that. If my console's power supply had to die, I'd rather it be outside the console than in it. One less thing to worry about.

None of the two. I'm happy with my PC.

The only issue I've heard the PS4 has is a metal prong is sticking out and needs bending back, the Xbox One is having issues where users have to send it off for repair, disk not reading etc.

So definitely not like its PS4 brother.

You haven't heard of all the PS4 issues then, :P. People have had to send that back to Sony too.

I don't think the PS4 has any disk read issues, though what it had was the problem of simply not starting up at all, not restarting after the update, the metal prong, and a few other things.

Again, all small time. But lets not pretend people haven't been sending that back too.

As a matter of fact, the first report that came out about a PS4 failure ended up being resolved by the guy having to send his PS4 back to Sony so they could repair it- the issue being that he was one of those lucky few who won a console pre-launch day and wouldn't be able to play it until post-launch day.

Its pretty equal across the board as far as we know.

I'll give my two stepbrothers your best regards. :D

Also if they have anything to say about the console I'll post their thoughts here.

Cool, please do that!

I'm really interested in hearing about first hand experiences with the PS4. And the X1, actually, although I doubt I'll ever want to get one. I just hope everyone who got a next-gen console is able to have a good time with it, and that there are no bigger problems with either of them.

Lemme say this then-

So far, both are happy with their PS4s. There are things they feel could've been done better, but neither is throwing his arms around freaking out about something.

Same with me, though I haven't had a week with my console yet. I have my criticisms, but so far I'm diggin it.

We all need time to get used to change.

Normally, I'd be more willing to support MS than Sony. However:
I think MS is on a very long, decade long, streak of screwing things up. Possibly they have hired marketing people from the same school as EA gets theirs?
Anyway, the PS4 is more optimized for the kind of interesting gaming that I'm looking for. It does have better graphics and memory environment for instance.
The Ex-box Done is more optimized for TV (you should have done that 10 years ago, and with the Windows PC, you moro...), and believes the future of gaming is in jumping up and down and waving your arms. <curls lips in disgust> <spits>.

No. While I normally get both consoles, this time it'll take a long time before I eventually acquires a XBox.

t.l.dr.   I'll get the PS4.

I bought a PS4 because it's cheaper, but I'm getting an X1 by the time Titanfall comes out.

Probably going PS4 this time. Hardware aside, Sony tend to have exclusive games I want to play.
