Could the hardsuit be feasible? (scientifically)

You know the game, we see the modern-day suits that astronauts wear and they look like deep-sea
diving suits; bulky and vulnerable. What I'm wondering could the hardsuit in
the ME series be a feasible option for astronauts to wear? This would replace
that big cloth bubble that they currently wear.

I'm sure the modern-day space suit has its practical uses, but wouldn’t you think a
hardsuit would be better?

And just to clarify, I'm referring more to the suit that Shepard wears at the beginning of ME1.

It's a start. No armored plating, but that will probably come once space travel becomes more common.

The Mars suit is rated for a much less hostile environment than the old suits. Mars isn't quite as hostil as the Vacum of space or the moons atmosphereless highradiation environment.

But I expect suits to get far more "comfortable" allow better movement as each layer is made thinner.
The important part of a space suits function commes from multiple layers. Miniturization is the path forward.

Actually I would disagree with this.   Mars is likely to be a much more hostile environment for suits.   There isn't really much more atmosphere on Mars than on the moon to be honest.  The atmospheric pressure of mars is only 0.7% of Earths.   That's less than 1%.    The radiations levels are going to be nearly as high as open space since Mars has no real magnetic field to block it.  

On top of that you will have frequent duststorms blowing sand at top speeds of 180 mph.   That requires a bit more protection than just going to the moon.

The concepts for space suits in some sci-fi are based upon real world concepts and such.

I especially like the idea of a skintight suit, it works by creating the vacuum proof layer while the wearer's skin works as the heat diffusion system. Seems like the way to go.

Radiation will be lower on and around Mars due to it being further away from the sun than our moon.

Also, that's still a lot more atmosphere than in space or on the moon, which also provides some additional protection even if it's limited.

I think people will stay inside during such massive sandstorms.

If we find some EEZO on the moon or on Mars or anywhere in our SOL System then sure why not. In the game , the space suits you see are made out of the Element Zero and therefore are lighter than any other material and 100 times stronger. I'll let you know next time we find EEZO and if that's possible!

As advanced as we feel scientifically/technologically...funny to think we are barely scratching at the surface of the future. those links remind me of some of the codex entries from me1 and me2 on the beginnings of humanity in outer space.
