Leliana seems to have a default mode of romance from the start. I went to the Pearl quite early in the game in the hopes of picking up some er... information. I has hardly talked to Lel and he approval was not that high but when I tried propositioning the duelist woman she suddenly came out with her what about us line.
It's impossible not to romance Leiliana!

I always thought the "Morrigan is a lucky girl..." conversation was about her being jealous anyway, except she denies it and isn't all sincere when she wishes you luck.

I've had no luck romancing either Morrigan or Leiliana, despite having 100 approvals with both and going through both their quests. The game seems to want to encourage me to romance Alistair, but even in gameplay I'm just not into guys.

The key to not romancing Leliana is to say the line: "I think you have the wrong idea" or something like that. She will kind of stammer like she doesn't know what you are talking about but secretly she gets the message that there is not going to be any romance with you. I went through all the things above too. I wanted to get her at 100 for the bonus to cunning without romancing her. I said the words about just being friends but it takes more than that. Talk to her frequently at camp and at some point you can cut her off without taking a disapproval hit. Conversely, if you are at 100 with her and no romance yet but want to, you are going to have to lose approval with her somehow to get the romance conversations.

It's just that you're a raving schizophreniac. You've been secretly romancing her behind your own back and you just think she's friendly. In fact, you've bedded her and you don't remember. Oh, and she has your babies. Even if you're female.

I had to get Leliana off my back in my first playthrough, where I romanced Morrigan. Right now, though, my dwarven noble, Carlos Aeducan, is banging both Leliana and Zevran, and neither of them seem to notice or care.
Will one of them make me choose eventually?

Yes. Once you get to a certain point in both romances, neither will share -- Zevran has to like you a little bit more.

Yes. Once you get to a certain point in both romances, neither will share -- Zevran has to like you a little bit more.
Which makes me miss Jade Empire =(

All right, good to know. I could always just break it off early, but I don't see why I shouldn't stretch it out as much as possible.
As for Jade Empire, that was... interesting. Saved me from making a decision, in any case, although the PC/Isabela/Leliana/Zevran thing in Dragon Age beats it out for sheer numbers.

Ok I finally got to the romancce with leiliana. Wasn't easy. Somehow, even though I tried liek heck to avoid it, Alistair ended up givig me a rose and getting all moon-eyed and in love. Then I got crap about it from both Morrigan and Leiliana. Then Wynne got all motherly about not hurting him. Bleeeccchhh. So I did my best to let Alistair down easy without crushing him (Lost 13 points approval), then scored with Leilianna. When Morrigan then acted all disgusted about my character and Leilianna, I accused her of being jealous. And Alistair felt the need to know what was going on with my character and Leilianna. Follwing all that camp drama, Zevran then starts hitting on my character! Maybe I'm glad I never got Oghern in my group. that would be all I'd need is a drunken dwarf trying to score with me too.
