Hello Everyone,
I am a huge fan of Batman and I absolutely Love the Dark Knight series. However, there is something that's been bugging me about them. This topic will be based on Batman's ONE RULE: He does not kill.
*** SPOILERS (although.... many of you should have watched the movies already.. but just in case...)***
Let's use the first movie for example. If that is his #1 rule, why did he "not save" Ra's al Ghul? In the comics, he would have still saved him, right? As for the second movie, he tackled Two-Face off the building to save Gordon's son. In the end, Two-face fell to his death... which refutes Batman's one and only rule. I mean, he threw Joker off the building.. but saved him... how about Two-Face? As for the third one, I don't think anyone really died by his hand.
Do these events really contradict the comics? Or are these merely "accidents" that occurred in the movie? What do you all think?

Killing =/= Refusing and/or Unable to rescue

Hollywood logic.
Because in real life, the mobster he strapped to the search light in the beginning of the first movie would have suffered pretty bad burns and potentionally died from infested wounds after parts of of clothes would have more or less fused with his flesh due to excessive heat.

The Joker wins in The Dark Knight. Everything he sets out to accomplish he does. He tells the mob he'll get rid of Batman and by moives end he does. He tells Batman he's going to make him break his one rule and he does as he 1. Kills Dent and 2. Fails to save Rachel as Joker lied about her location.
In the comics Batman kills Joker at the end of the Killing Joke (that's how I interpret anyway)

He says in the first movie that he wont kill Ra's but he wont save him either. Train goes off the tracks.

Yeah, but because he had a chance to prevent it, wouldn't he somewhat be responsible?

If you make the choice to not save someone when you're capable, that makes you responsible for their death. So yeah, Nolan's Batman has killed, albeit indirectly by inaction.

I guess you could make the argument that Ducard/Ra should have already been dead. Bruce saved him from the exploding League of Shadows building. He was just putting everything right by not saving him again.ChowMan wrote...

With the killing of Two Face, he was saving Gordons kid. By saving the kid, Dent died, but it wasnt Batman physically 'killing' him it was just a byproduct of saving an innocent child. Its fuzzy logic
