My impression has always been that ANY character who doesn't put the player first above their own desires is betraying them. Those characters should realize the player is saving the world, or otherwise simply deserving of getting what they want, because the player can rationalize it.

In other words, it's another case of "I don't think that word means what you think it means." Calling it "betrayal" certainly makes it sound objectively worse than "they made me angry", however.

Most of those situations in game also coincide with "Oh and kill Hawke to get it". Like the Feynriel quest. Those were certainly betrayals.

and yet of course companions can turn against the Inquisitor and kill him/her too. Laidlaw has hinted as much in interviews, Varric hinted as much with his abandon Crestwood complaints in the pax video. Playing as a bad dude or allowing innocents to be slaughtered might bring on a turn against scenario , but maybe it's not betrayal if the Inquisitor betrays the trust of his party.

Oh yes, turning on the inquisitor can be justified, but let the inquisitor turn on companions as well. If the group dynamic doesn't work, why wait for the knife in the dark?  Why not weild it yourself.

Why does the BSN want tot kill or romance everyone

I'm not sure which is more creepy, to be honest, the inevitable "will I get to romance them?" when any character is mentioned or the vaguely psychopathic "this character annoyed me at some point so I want to be able to slaughter them, even if it's with a new character who would know nothing about it".

We had a guy in a tabletop I was once in who did that. He'd roll a new character specifically to kill another party member who, in his mind, was responsible for his previous character's death. He was kind of a dick.

Anyway, yeah. Ultimately, the chances I would allow a character to be killed solely because the player might have some lingering grudge from two games ago? Nil. If it makes sense in the current story? Absolutely. If it doesn't make sense, will accusations of "plot armor" arise? Sure, and yet.

I will just be honest I just cant stand people like that. Your right it is very psychotic. killing a character because I got a little annoyed instead of just leaving them be. But wanting to kill morrigan 2 games latter just because of so stuff she did in the first game is childish. ill never understand the obsession that people have will killing of their most of their followers just because they had a funny look. DO they have any idea of the content they might be loosing.

Re the bolded: Uh I personally don't care about losing content with characters that aggravate me. So it's not an issue.

More than likely a direct challenge , like Sten does if he feels you don't show leadership in DAO, or like Leliana does if you pollute the ashes. They're not the murder knife types.

I'd say swearing to help the Warden and then abandoning them on the eve before the final battle counts as a betrayal.

In what cutscene did she swear alligiance to The Warden? I'm serious, I honestly want to know. Because from my experience, Morrigan volunteered (or rather, was pushed by her mother) to join the Warden on their quest. That means that she can leave whenever she wants. The only people who are under oath are Zevran and Alistair, Zev because of his vow and Alistair because of his oath to the Grey Wardens. Now, they can betray you. Not Morrigan.

She also tells you that you'll regret romancing or befriending her several times. Especially if you romance her. She misled and deceived you. Not betrayed. I'm not saying it was right, but she did warn you. She stabbed you in the front, not the back. It was kind of obvious she wanted something from you, even if she ended up liking you. Your Warden was foolish for trusting her. Mine are guilty of it too, especially my male because he fell in love with her. I was more hurt when she left than angry, but different strokes for different folks.

Morrigan isn't just some misunderstood person who people
don't like because she's not kissing up to you; she's  sadistic,
manipulative and power hungry, and the world would be better off if the
Inquisitor could stick a sword in her gut. We've killed characters for
far less.

That's your opinion of her. I don't see where she would be considered sadistic. Harsh and cold, yes. But sadistic? Nah. You may have a grudge against her because she "betrayed" your Warden, but she has no beef with the Inquisitor. We shouldn't be able to kill her unless she does something wrong (not wrong like leaving when you refuse her offer either - like really wrong, like attempt to take over the world or kill innocent people or something.)

So what she decided join to me if you join the army there is no im volunteer i m get out of here see ya it still desertion she joined to my party where i command so she need shut her mouth and listen to me if she don't like it she shouldn't join to me. Of course im not loyal person and not that i wouldn't betray someone but still she betrayed us.

She wasn't a Grey Warden. You had no authority over her. She went with us because her mother told her to for the whole OGB if she didn't get what was sent for why stay?

So what she joined to my party and im leader i have authority over her and to betray you don't be be bond only by law so...

Faulty logic.  The Grey Warden's merry band of misfits can't be compared to a RL army setting.  You're not actually in command of anyone while you're traipsing about the countryside and trying to drum up support against the Blight.  Everyone who follows you accepts your leadership of the group but that's not at all the same thing as swearing fealty to you as their commander.  You clearly don't LIKE it when Morrigan decides to go her own way, but that's not at all the same thing as her definitively betraying you.

don't like billo.
Morrigan is suppose to be different in dai.Whether it's because she's a mom and had to do motherly things, or maybe she's in love with another npc. That would be rich, morrigan in love with some chevalier and being fearful for him and wanting to help the inquisitor, and all her haters would melt away. rotfl.

I hope we do get to 'kill' her again. Then for her to reappear in the next installment, making a comment to the next protagonist: "Ah another 'important' figurehead, that will soon be a fading memory to their closest companions and make a vain attempt to slay me." Something like that, but better written.

To be fair to your former tabletop party member, sometimes that can be warranted..

Like the mage in our party who hamstrung the paladin (and only tank) because he was in her way and she couldn't get an attack in...

Even farther back was when my fighter killed everyone because they let his war elephant die the week I missed for family stuff.  He really loved that elephant.

*Reads topic about killing characters..

Spoiler
I resurrected the thread and i don't care since it's not even so old and i was not even around when it was created.
I always share my thought regardless of what some folk believe of the timeline of a topic, which i find a stupid argument unless the topic is old of several years and the character is not in others games of the franchise,so couldn't care less and never cared of those arguments about necro.
Unless that was a feeble attempt from the part of the Morrigan fans to avoid a "disturbing argument that may harm their feelings" about their virtual love interest,if so i honestly couldn't care less
As for killing Morrigan yes,i would like to have the realistic scenario in the Dlc and not Gaider plot armor,,the Warden guts her and push her through the mirror instead to finish her, plus that mirror was perfectly fine and my warden would have never letting her go,Wh meant REVENGE for me..
As for the whole betrayal thing sure she is a traitor and deserve to die.
Points that are facts and not opinions
1)She lie from the start
2)She used my Warden against Flemeth and lied when i ask to her as for why Flemeth sent her ,under the specific question
"why your mother sent you here if she intend to possess your body like you claim?
3)She suggested to kill all of my family the city elves
4)She gave her words to help my warden against the blight in return for the first grimoire located on the circle of mage quest
under the voice personal quest
specific quesion
n1
Useful in what way?
her answer?
Morrigan "useful in the sense that will help me to aid you better against the blight"
and yet she did not maintained those words, she broke the deal when she left at Redcliffe, she is a traitor..
If she survived at the Wh encounter is because of plot armor in no realistic scenario my warden would have pushed her into that mirror to step back later and not finish her, while that eluvian was perfectly intact to pursue her and finish her.
She is traitor when the ritual is refused, which is my canon.
ps
to lord rajin or whatever
i don't care about Alistair i didn't even had him in redclieffe, she is a traitor because she betrayed the warden in this scenario

FOR THE LOVE OF MYTHAL, WHY!?

As long as there's a good story behind it, I think it works. The DAO poster for Dallish always struck me as a Morrigan stabber. :P

"It is heartwarming, truly, to see that there are yet humans willing to risk a slow and torturous death in pursuit of our most sacred treasures."
