Okay...so you are saying they get continuous drug supply after retirement? So...they all end their life as...hardcore drug addicts
So you condemn them for hypothetically cutting them off and now you're condemning them for supplying them with the thing that stops them from collapsing into a wreck. Stop trying to grasp at straws.
I think they're being condemned for addicting them in the first place. Which is a fair grounds for criticism, even if there are reasons for doing it..
I understand that but that'd be an entirely different argument.

I use "brain damage" as softer word than the harsher word

If taking DA:O, Templar don't really need lyrium to learn Templar talents, we can say that Chantry is evil bad organization for making Templars drug addicts to control them
But...well...that point is lessen by the retcons

While I generally don't agree with most of your ideas, I just found the lack of supporters odd since BSN has a tendency for being contrary for contrast's sake

The elves started the war by considering themselves better than the humans when the humans arrived in Thedas. The humans wanted... EQUALITY! Yeah!
Then, Tevinter was born - mages. Tons of evil horribad mages EVERYWHERE!
Then, Andraste got her period and threw a world class tantrum and thrashed Tevinter but good. Yeah normal folks! YEAH world altering religiosity!
And so - here we are...
And we've learned that elves were to blame, but in our new Dalish Pride world - it's unacceptable to blame elves.... which leaves, mages. Horribad, evil to the core... blood lusting... desire demon whoring mages.

He's where you're wrong on my standing.
I'm not against mages nor am I for Templar's.
I merely recognize big dangers mages are, even if they choose and try their best not to be.
It's a tragedy, but mages need to be watched up on and strictly educated.
Otherwise non-mages and mages are doomed, as rogue mages can cause huge devastation.
Whatever you are Andrestian or not, too. The Elven pantheons, Paragons, Qun, other religious affiliates, agnostics and atheists are also gonna be doomed by rogue mages.
That's why we need the Circle or any other system similar to it. Mages need strict education and watched not to fall under demons and blood magic.
And yes, Templar's have a lot of problems too with lyrium addiction, zealotry, totalitarian behavior, too rigid and often not held responsible for crimes they commit.
Hell, they're the reason why I sided the mages with my main Hawke.
However this issues can be corrected withing the Templar's. And if not, replaced by another organization that will take their job but should have many key differences.

It seems the Chantry more or less contain it, not a lot of Samson around or old brain dead templars.
But of course now it seems templars are sniffing the red dust , and some turn to Behemoth.
It's a bit ironic really , the Chantry set the path to create monster probably as destructive as abominations.

Mages vote, templars murder. Which side was more aggressive is quite clear. Especially since they seceded from the Chantry, not the templars, which were controlled by the Chantry; the templars created an entirely new faction just to declare war.The mages' vote started the war, so technically the mages started it.
The templars.Wait, what side?

Information we get from characters is just what they personally know, so I wouldn't call that a retcon, just incomplete information. The bit about all templar's having to take lyrium to use their abilities appears to be a genuine retcon.

Wasn't the mage vote rigged by Adrian murdering Pharamond and pinning the blame on one of the other mages?

No, on several levels. First, Pharamond outright begged for death. Second, the templars used it as an excuse to arrest Rhys, but that wasn't being used to change votes.EJ107 wrote...
