Lol. Allan, why are you taking out cops and sneaking around in the precinct building in part 9? Did you forget that Haas let you in so you're not considered a trespasser?

I couldn't be sure they'd be so keen on my hacking things.

No need. I hacked them just for the early XP without taking anything and
still got the mails complaining about some thief in the offices.

I understand.  Just roleplaying.

I'm also inputting in passcodes instead of hacking, despite it being suboptimal for me to do so.

I'm pretty sure you can only get second screen features with the WiiU or Playstation version (with the Vita). Don't see an option on PC.

Intel Screen Control.

DE:HR is supposed to be compatible and linked to in the article. App available soon. ;)

If you get into the morgue without talking to Haas, do we get to meet him later on?

Oh, Ok. That makes sense. I think, however, that as long as they don't see you in the act,  they won't become hostile to you (if Haas lets you in).

In my very first playthrough of the game back in 2011, I didn't speak to Haas at all. I don't remember ever running into him later in the game either.

yeah, it was more just precautionary so that they couldn't spot me. They definitely do get upset if you are fiddling around.

But but ... the police station is one of the best firefights you can have in this game. Nevermind that the firefight ambient music for the police station is AWESOME!

Allan, y u no wantonly massacre?

Lol yeah, in my Psycho Jensen playthrough I wiped the police station clean. The combat music in that area is indeed awesome.

Barret must be an homage to Barret from Final Fantasy 7. The arm for a gun? Both characters are big and muscular?Square Enix being the publisher of both the FF series and DE:HR?

Anyway, it's just a thought :)

Edit: Wow. And just watching the cinematic, entering Hengsha, I notifced how similar it looks to the city of Midgar from Final Fantasy 7. The single tall tower in the center of the city and the suspended plate that separates the city into a lower and upper half.

I can't believe I didn't notice all of this when I first placed the game.

To be fair I didn't really make the association either, but it does seem awfully coincidental (especially Barrett).

I could see the concept for Barrett existing well enough on his own, but a definitely nod to Final Fantasy by actually naming him Barrett.

Exactly. When I first played this game I was so blown away by pretty much everything. I didn't even know at the time that Square Enix was the publisher of the game - which makes the Final Fantasy XXVII poster more hilarious since Eidos was poking a little fun at their publisher, Square.

The name Barrett is what got me to start thinking about FF7. Using the name alone isn't enough proof in my mind that Eidos was paying homage, but after realizing that their Barrett also had a gun as an arm (that was unique to Barrett in FF7), both characters were about the same size and had the same musclely build, both have the same haircut, and both use a sort of lower class way of speaking, it hit me.

Hengsha being an homage to Midgar is a little more tenuous, but enough specific characteristics of Midgar are in their Hengsha that I think it is another homage.

Aw, I restarted another playthrough but when I came to the Barret mission I rage-uninstalled the whole game. It was almost as frustrating as the final Bioshock Infinite mission, brrr.
The DC version looks like a BIG improvement.

I've played those parts. Can't say I see much of a difference. Maybe in the first fight where you can hack the turrets to kill Barrett.

There isn't any difference besides the orginal first three bosses have added turrets or drones that can be activated by a hackable object. The AI was also slightly tweaked to the version that Missing Link used, but it never seemed extremely different.
