I think Rhys could have to many similarities with Vivienne. He's a former - Orlaisian - circle mage, Senior Enchanter and now the representative of the Aequitarian fraction, has a rather moderate point of view (did support mage freedom, but not at all costs) and will probably continue to play a big role for the mages, perhaps as a leader. IMO he's more likely to be a possible ally for our Inquisitor rather than a companion.
