What if rockets didn't deplete the wave budget or count for points?

What would you think?
*No Missile Glitching
*No Spawn Nuking
*No Trivializing the Difficult Waves
*Minimized FTLing
*KookCompartments become irrelevant

Rockets would simply be an oh chit button to bail the team out of wiping, save a teammate, etc.

It'd be nice, but only PC people might be able to do it.

I like this idea. They should consider it for ME4 (if there is going to be something like rockets at all).

Would also make speedrunning a lot more interesting/ skill based than it is now.

They have their place in the game, If you get overwhelmed you need them. That doesn't mean you are a bad team/ bad players.
I don't think you should take away the points. It's a strategy to using missiles effective and they do balance the game.

Go watch a decent plat speedrun video on youtube and see if you can say that "missiles are balanced" with a straight face...

Don't tell the glitcher a Banshee or a Phantom is about to kill them, or just hold on to the objective and they can't do crap about it. Be a jug as you can't take it off unless you go down.

So what is wrong with speed runs ? It's just a strategy that some teams apply. I didn't notice any abuse of missiles in PUGs except the missile glitch 2 or 3 times.
It doesn't take away from the fun,it ads to it , and that's all that matters in a video game.

It's an interesting idea. It eliminates rocketing for scorewh0ring, and missile glitching which I would pay money for.

I think in a team game this works great, but for solos they should work as currently instituted. I ain't doing a platinum solo without rocketing a few spawns.

Alot less people being able to solo, More strategic missiles, No more reliance on missiles to outscore, missile glitching would never have existed, Armored Compartments would be less valued, etc

Glitchers solo Platinums by getting a group of friends to help them to Wave 11, and then they all bail and let that person extract alone. Which I think is total B.S.

Most speed runners I believe would tell you no rocket runs are the most fun. Posting a sick time with rockets is fun but the rocketless runs take more skill, coordination, and have a lot of lulz moments in them.

There is nothing wrong with speedrunning as a concept. The fact that the most effective way to speedrun in me3 is to stand around blocking spawns while other spawns get nuked is lame and not fun in the least. How would this idea take away from the fun of normal missile use in a normal team game?

What if thermal clips removed 100% of damage rather than adding 100% damage?

Believe me it doesn't work that way. I've had a friend ninja join and not fire a single shot and I still lost that solo. You have to solo the whole game.

People running around nuking every spawn in sight isn't fun for everyone.

It only works if you're not the host, because the game is re-adjusted. So if you're not host, and you invite people and they all bail including the host, you can extract alone on Wave 11 and get your Platinum Solo Medal. I had a situation where the host had to "take one for the team" and got out. When the match resumed, the other two people were gone, and so I had to extract alone, thus, getting my first Plat. Medal. Of course, I had to redeem myself for that, and so, I went to go do a Platinum Solo(I already made a thread about it last week, I believe)with my Geth Trooper.

I understand your points, but I do believe that missiles are necesary since most PUG players are not so good, so you need a safety mechanism. Even with a good team you can get overwhelmed.

And some waves are just ridiculous and nuking is necesary. Platinum Geth on wave 2 is just one example.

And I didn't see nuke abuse more than 2 times in 2000 games that I played ( that being one person nuking every spawn) . This is on PC, I don't know how it works on console.

Actually, I think you're wrong about that Nuke. Crimson got both her gold solos when all three other players disconnected after a host migration but she stayed in the game and completed the last wave or two on her own. Maybe the host migration is key.

OT: I like your idea, it'd be nice to see in ME:Next if it's at all relevant.

Again you still have the rockets to bail you out of a fail situation BUT you still have to face the budget legitly.

Yeah Geth Plat wave 2 is ridiculous compared to some other waves but legitimate balancing of the game can take place if there isn't a cheap tactic in place like nuking your way through a wave.
