What if rockets didn't deplete the wave budget or count for points?

I like this idea but I can see both benefits and disadvantages with it. Still, the idea itself is not bad but could use some modification.

That would mean no speedruns. This is a stupid idea, no thanks.

No-rocket speedruns are still speedruns.

I must have done at least 2000 organised speed runs on Jade with 4 people using armoured compartments, if not more. That was how I maxed out my manifest in 600 hours. Wouldn't have been possible without armoured compartments and missiles taking up the wave budget. So this whole idea is just absolutely terrible I must say, probably the worst idea I have ever heard of. The thread starter may have only been thinking about regular team games. I'm not interested in doing any other kind of speedruns that take longer than 10 minutes. So, no thanks.

I would welcome this idea if grinding credits didn't play such a huge part. But it does. And I don't deal with hypothetical BS scenarios.

Rockets are absolutely fine in normal play, where players use them to help with buying time for objectives, assassinating VIP's, rescuing teammates, wiping the occasional mass gathering of enemies for killstreaks, ETC.

The annoyances only occur when spawn nuking with armoured compartments and/or 2 or more players all spawn nuking, being able to use 20-32 instakills in one game trivialises even platinum if used to instakill spawns in this fashion.

It's not really a big problem to be honest, since it requires a concerted effort to do this, one triggerhappy fool only gets 9 rockets at max, and you can see if a player equips armoured compartments in the lobby, and just quit.

An alternative option would be to have multiple types of heavy weapon available in the next ME game:

One would allow the instakill of any boss, but have minimal AoE to prevent spawn-nuking, like a HEAT missile thats designed to deliver massive damage in a tightly focused area.

One would have AoE but less damage, gaining spawn weakening capabilities at the expense of boss killing effectiveness, like a rocket launcher equipped with lots of micro-warheads (MKII cobra).

One would have AoE and massive damage, but can only be used once or twice due to ammo limitations (Cain M920).

Others could have different traits, like the ME2 heavy weapons.
Having the M-622 Avalanche return as a gun that inflicted a massive debuff on it's targets and a larger amount of ammo than the more conventional heavy weapons would be an interesting option.

Basically, make it so that a player cannot have AoE and massive damage and decent ammo levels in one package, they have to choose which one of the three traits to sacrifice, or sacrifice all three options to take a more non-conventional heavy weapon.

A good team could get down to around 10-12 minutes even without using rockets on Platinum, as always it depends on the RNG with objectives.

So you spent about half of your first 600 hours doing speedruns? That sounds incredibly boring. I just played the game for fun and maxed my manifest in about 800 hours.

Also, what's with all the hostility? I thought you were actually a nice guy, no?

He is, it's just because it's BSN you know. I tend to be the same way here because I find it interesting how people react

I'm nowhere near the skill level to be able to do that. Jade speed runs with armoured compartments are extremely easy and relaxed, I just sit there for like 6 hours on my laptop, surfing the net, while keeping my eye on the screen to check the game and make sure I'm in the right position for each wave. All I have to do is deliver a few missiles on my allocated waves and that's it. Job done. Very efficient, no mess no fuss, I don't even have to concentrate. Grinding, not playing.

I was making an effort to be nice. Then he goes and puts kookpartments in his opening post. Now I'm not the sensitive type, but I've been nice to him this whole time. I'm done being nice. I'm too easily provoked. I'm in a very bad mood right now. Period-blood-all-over-kitchen-floor kind of bad mood.

I spent most of my time doing speedruns until I maxed out my manifest. It was a little bit boring at times, but I didn't mind it. I continued to do speedruns for a very long time after that, didn't stop even after maxing my manifest. Easy credits, I find platinum really frustrating. Some people can play platinum normally and not have too much trouble. But I found speedruns so much easier.

Different opinions I guess. I would never do something like that and I have never done something like that, simply because I would find it incredibly boring and not fun at all. But I'm not going to judge anyone else for doing it though since it is up to each and every player to decide how they want to play the game.

I wouldn't mind if they awarded no points.

If they didn't cut the spawn budget, I'd be pretty miffed....

What does it say about me? I like the manipulating game because I learn a lot about human nature by observing how people react to certain things. It's like performing science for my own personal interests and I find it intriguing.

Or he would just mod the game so he would do 10000000% extra damage with every weapon in the game.

Hope you enjoy my 12 minute clutch because I can't use rockets. Sure it would be nice to do it in 2 so you all can get back in the game, but the elite BSNers have spoken and your time is less valuable than their egos.

Hope you enjoy failing games because I can't make it without missiles if I'm ever in a position where I need to clutch! :(

Don't care if other people nuke spawns. Most PUGs don't anyway. And if they did, it would make the match go faster anyway which is always good.

Rockets don't trivialize the game. At least not more than anything else. If 4 players got together in a lobby, they could use 0 rockets and make Platinum a cakewalk.
