^^ x2

And no excessive cruel anticipation and expectation build up by the PR team would be great! If it's a flop we won't have far to fall...

Mystery, but with a good amount of resolution enough to finish it and feel as victorious as the end of ME1 or ME2.

Maybe with a lead writer who isn't Karpyshyn or Walters, this might actually happen.

Smaller-scale antagonists (not villains), rational politics, consistent characters, and sensible story conclusions.

A story that keeps the character focus in a story where the stakes aren't so big.

I personally would like to see a Crucible creation story from many cycles ago.

Make most of the dominant races be almost the same as the ones in our own cycle and many players might not notice the difference.

I want to play as Dirty Harry/Takeshi Kovacs/Heisenberg/Han Solo in the Mass Effect universe. I saved the galaxy and became the legend known as The Shepard, now I want to meddle in the unsavory world of crime and conspiracy. Having my own ship, trying to make a living and get by as best I can.

Also, space battles. Playable space battles. B)

Put outstanding feats/badassery on a pedestal for a change. Not sacrifice. Not loss. WW2 consisted of more than just storming the Normandy beaches. There's more to a soldier's life than just bleeding out or watching friends bleed out. Badassery definitely already exists in the gameplay, but when it comes to the big story moments, it isn't out there much. Leviathan DLC kind of stands out though. I'd love to see more fearlessness and insanity like that. I get tired of all of the pain and drama. I want to see a badass, successful, psychotic action hero. In space. :D And I don't think Shepard was that.. except in gameplay. There was always a moment when writers put an end to the fun and tried to force some situation that made you feel "sad". Just quit it already. Write a motherfrackin action story /rantoff

One word: Politics!
It's one thing about the Revelation novel I really liked. They really went into all the political intrigue that is going on between the species. Unfortunately in the games, the council mostly behaves rather stupidly. I'd like to see a game where we get between the fronts of political tensions between the races. E.g. how they all struggle to rebuild after the war and - given that all the major powers suffered heavy losses - everyone is now trying to carve out their little piece of the post war galaxy. It would be the perfect setup for it. Outwardly everyone works together to rebuild but behind the scenes, the rivalries between the species bring the galaxy to the edge of another war. You could play some sort of spy-like character who is involved or a completely unrelated guy who just gets into these scenes by accident.
However, if they did that, they'd definitely have to improve the way they display politicians and leaders in the game. They'd have to come across as competent, not as just a stumbling stone for the player (like the council did in the trilogy).

And no secret, convient, superweapons found in the back corners of one of earths closest colonies.

I'm with you. It's time we played a non-soldier.

I want to investigate the "dark energy" that was mentioned...let it be some sinister sign of an ancient master race coming out of hibernation since the reaper threat is no more..maybe this race designed the crucible to send a signal telling them to wake up once the reapers were crushed -- of course this would probably have to allude to Shepard so I don't think I'll get what I want.

Also, let us have a 15 minute conversation at the start basically outlining what decision shepard made at the end of the trilogy..if you choose green or blue, go directly to "you win!" and prompt end credits :wizard:

PS: I would have a hard time convincing myself to buy a prequel, but I suppose it wouldn't have to be a well-documented scenario (e.g. contact war). I'm sure there were some pretty compelling storylines that never reached news stands..

PSS: Alternate Universe is very 'meh' in my mind, but "benefit of the doubt", etc.

Massive jump in time. Say around 50,000 years after the events of ME3.

Task: Preparing for something.... Something Big. Locate an "anomaly" and investigate the "Shepard Incident".

After all.

There is no war. ONLY the harvest.
