Maybe we'll give the devs ideas.
What do you want the next Mass Effect game to be about?

And no excessive cruel anticipation and expectation build up by the PR team would be great! If it's a flop we won't have far to fall...

plot elements with rational solutions
Maybe with a lead writer who isn't Karpyshyn or Walters, this might actually happen.
Smaller-scale antagonists (not villains), rational politics, consistent characters, and sensible story conclusions.

Make most of the dominant races be almost the same as the ones in our own cycle and many players might not notice the difference.

Also, space battles. Playable space battles.

Well, now that you mention it.

It's one thing about the Revelation novel I really liked. They really went into all the political intrigue that is going on between the species. Unfortunately in the games, the council mostly behaves rather stupidly. I'd like to see a game where we get between the fronts of political tensions between the races. E.g. how they all struggle to rebuild after the war and - given that all the major powers suffered heavy losses - everyone is now trying to carve out their little piece of the post war galaxy. It would be the perfect setup for it. Outwardly everyone works together to rebuild but behind the scenes, the rivalries between the species bring the galaxy to the edge of another war. You could play some sort of spy-like character who is involved or a completely unrelated guy who just gets into these scenes by accident.
However, if they did that, they'd definitely have to improve the way they display politicians and leaders in the game. They'd have to come across as competent, not as just a stumbling stone for the player (like the council did in the trilogy).

Also, let us have a 15 minute conversation at the start basically outlining what decision shepard made at the end of the trilogy..if you choose green or blue, go directly to "you win!" and prompt end credits
PS: I would have a hard time convincing myself to buy a prequel, but I suppose it wouldn't have to be a well-documented scenario (e.g. contact war). I'm sure there were some pretty compelling storylines that never reached news stands..
PSS: Alternate Universe is very 'meh' in my mind, but "benefit of the doubt", etc.

Task: Preparing for something.... Something Big. Locate an "anomaly" and investigate the "Shepard Incident".
After all.
There is no war. ONLY the harvest.
