Why do so many not rate Ashley as high as the other girls?

Oh, on the topic of women in Mass Effect:

Traynor - a dog person. I hate dogs. No go.

Jack - very cool to have as a friend. I wouldn't risk my friendship with her by taking it one step further - for the sake of self preservation.

Tali - can't accomplish anything without Shepard's help. And even with Shepard's help always manages to let most of her squad (and at the end her entire species if you don't intervene) die. Wanted to wipe out an entire sentient species.

Ashley - likes her job and promotion more than Shepard. Hates aliens whom Shepard cavorts with. Undergoes plastic surgeries. Irreconciliable differences.

Kasumi - awesome in every way possible. Particularly good sense of humor. But she's just not into Shepard. Ah well. Still an awesome friend to have.

Miranda - awesome in every way possible except she has no sense of humor. Needs to lighten up. Perfect woman for people who are serious all the time. I can be very serious, but not all the time. Scratch that she's just perfect. With the exception that she does not share Liara's plot armor.

Samara - perfect for bad boys and girls who like to be bent over and punished. Except the punishment here is a swift death. Thanks, but no thanks. I know I've been bad but I want to live.

Liara - awesome in every way possible. But unlike Kasumi is so extremely loyal to Shepard that even death cannot shake her devotion. Also has IMO the best body among ME women.

Taking down the Shadow Broker wasn't just about revenge, or even a rescue of Feron, although both were factors. The Shadow Broker had also been an ally of the Collectors, and by extension, the Reapers.

There were pragmatic reasons for bringing him down as well as the personal ones. With the exception of the stakes involved, it isn't much different from Shepard's pursuit of Saren.

I believe he wasn't necessarily an ally of the Collectors and Reapers so much as he was trying to guarantee himself some kind of safety or reprieve from them.

I figure that if he could be convinced to help with information, he'd be a much more valuable broker than Liara.

Vasir, I have no idea why the game makes you hate her. The only real reason I guess is because she's trying to kill you. Same with Liara. Until I find out why she's trying to kill Liara... in which case I'd prefer to say "have at it, make sure the Broker's ready for the Reapers."

Granted, you'd think she'd be a bit more clean with her killing. Way too much evidence to successfully be taken seriously.

Hey, it's a post I mostly agree with. Except that I give Tali more credit, and Samara has a softer side. You can even have a romance with her sort of successfully in Citadel.

That's not true, unless they're standing for Collectors abducting everyone while the Alliance's hands are politically tied. Cerberus' goals are against what they stand for (Kaidan, anyway; Ashley always seemed to be protesting too much), but Shepard working for them is not.

Cerberus now has one objective that the VS can agree with them on. It's still not enough reason to jump ship and follow Shepard or abandon the Alliance that they have sworn their own loyalty to. Everyone is already in agreement that these human colonies had no business forming in the locations they were in to begin with.

If one of my friends did do something that odd, I'd certainly want to know more about why they thought so, what the circumstances are, how things might have changed, etc. Not just blow them off.

For others, joining such an organization would be a major dealbreaker.

Wrex stuck a gun in Shepard's face. Liara blew Shepard off for a while.

True, I actually forgot about him, he's actually one of the very few that will check Shepard.

As for Liara, no comment.

Liara's a damn Mary sue at the least a writes pet. Let us see:

Powerful biotic rivaling if not surpasing asari commandos only 109 years old check
Will never leave shepards side check
no one dislikes her in game check
nerdbait check
exotic check
prothean expert check
finds the DEM (crucible) check

What irks me is the first one. Lets say the asari "equivalent" of human 18 is 40 yrs old if we were to assume what that illium asari said is true. Liara goes to college and majors in prothean studies and still finds the time to train her biotics in a heavy combat focused way that rivals like 100+ year old asari commandos who have dedicated their lives to it i mean cmon!!! thats crazy its like studying to become an archeologist getting your doctrate and having the combat skills of a navy seal who's spent like 3+ years on the team seriously? its crap.

The books are better anyway.

Well, game Geralt is better than book Geralt as a character because you get to decide what he thinks. But I don't want to be Geralt, game or book.

Her neuroticism and shyness is very offputting. I'd wish I had a chance to instill some actual discipline and confidence. It's rather annoying. Not a fan.

Jack - very cool to have as a friend. I wouldn't risk my friendship with her by taking it one step further - for the sake of self preservation.

Unattractive to me. Her personality is too unstable, and she has too much of a moral guide (believe it or not).

Tali - can't accomplish anything without Shepard's help. And even with Shepard's help always manages to let most of her squad (and at the end her species if you don't intervene) die. Wanted to wipe out an entire sentient species.

"Shepard, you caaaaannn't let my people die for the Gettttthhhh!"

She's a useful engineer. Beyond that, she's a pathetic bug.

Ashley - likes her job and promotion more than Shepard. Hates aliens whom Shepard cavorts with. Undergoes plastic surgeries. Irreconciliable differences.

Way too much of a moral absolutionist. I can't stand her. Otherwise yeah, same issues. It's not that I dislike her questioning Shepard. It's more that she comes off as a person unwilling to accept things she doesn't like.

Kasumi - awesome in every way possible. Particularly good sense of humor. But she's just not into Shepard. Ah well. Still an awesome friend to have.

It's fine, I'm not much into her either. She's a very useful talent to have.

Miranda - awesome in every way possible except she has no sense of humor. Needs to lighten up. Perfect woman for people who are serious all the time. I can be very serious, but not all the time.

She has a sardonic, dry sense of humor. It's very black, very dark, but it's there. We may not see absolutely eye-to-eye on every possible detail, but we understand our philosophies. We're both unfettered: to us, victory/goals are the only thing that matter. We achieve them all the same. Perfect for my Shepard.

Samara - perfect for bad boys and girls who like to be bent over and punished. Except the punishment here is a swift death. Thanks, but no thanks. I know I've been bad but I want to live.

I admire how she's fettered to a moral code that follows a blue and orange morality system. She's perfectly fine doing what she needs to do to get the job done. The only limiting factor is her code's rigidity, though it's not really easy to know what the limitations to her code are, since it definitely does not seem to be based on standard morality.

Liara - awesome in every way possible. But unlike Kasumi is so extremely loyal to Shepard that even death cannot shake her devotion. Also has IMO the best body among ME women.

Not awesome. Obnoxious and annoying. Her loyalty is not reciprocated. In fact, it's very creepy. I never saw her as more than the Asari who stayed on the ship long past the point of her usefulness in the first game. I see her again in the second game, and she treats it like a big deal, while my Shepard is internally asking himself "who were you again, and why should I care?"

Otherwise, I'd simply say, "go back to Thessia, the grown-ups are working".

i've never seen that said anywhere. But back to the topic at hand, Ashley and Kaidan defintely deserved better than what they got in ME3, but definitely in ME2.

Nah, AR is OP, even by Soldier standards.

Back on topic a bit, I wish I could be more confrontational with Ashley in ME3. I wanted things to be so poor between them that it would eventually end with Ashley's death. I wanted to give her a reason-you-suck speech about her virtually blind devotion to the alliance, and how it cost her so much. The bullet she got was more than she deserved.

"I hope the Reapers send you to hell!"

I know plenty of people who are neurotic and shy. Never a problem because I can easily make them liven up and relax.

Jack
Unattractive to me. Her personality is too unstable, and she has too much of a moral guide (believe it or not).

I think it's part of the fun. I like befriending people who are very different. And Jack is fine as long as you don't get too close - she even tells you that herself.

"Shepard, you caaaaannn't let my people die for the Gettttthhhh!"

"... Watch me."

She's a useful engineer. Beyond that, she's a pathetic bug.

Well, she has a rather attractive voice and figure. But other than that, yeah a typical worthless damsel-in-distress.

Ashley

Way too much of a moral absolutionist. I can't stand her. Otherwise yeah, same issues. It's not that I dislike her questioning Shepard. It's more that she comes off as a person unwilling to accept things she doesn't like.

Exactly. Imagine the arguments you will have every hour if you are to live together.

Miranda

She has a sardonic, dry sense of humor. It's very black, very dark, but it's there.

o__O I don't see it.

Ah. If only everyone else would think like this!

Seriously though. Only those who have never been betrayed do not know the value of loyalty. And those who have never been betrayed are simply not worth betraying. So, good for you.
