Well, my Xbox 360 just recently got the "open tray" error, and then it decides its not going to turn on. I'm not sending it in, because that would take too long; and I wouldn't be able to acquire Mass Effect 2 and play it on release.

So, I'm probably going to get an Arcade in a few days; and I had some questions.

As long as my ME save data is on the same hard drive it was created on, I should be able to import, right?

I was playing ME while I was waiting for ME2, but now that I don't have a 360, are the books worth reading?

Don't quote me or anything but, I think I heard (read) that the saves are connected to the 360 itself. Again I could be totally wrong and you're fine.

Aannd I haven't read the books.

Thanks, that helps.

Anyways, does anyone know if the books are any good?

Yep. Your solution is fine. Also, do send your 360 in if it's still warrantied, even if you are buying an Arcade. It's always nice to have a spare.

DLC is connected to the console itself. saves are linked to the hard drive

So unless you tend to play your DLC offline alot or want to. you are going to have to recover the licenses for them on the new xbox.

Yeah, I got it at the end of '07, so the only thing covered is the Red Ring of Death and E74, and I don't have those...

Thus why PC's are better. More reliable and you pay the same price for when a single part goes bad. And it is easier to see/fix what the problem is. And you have more customization, more space, and better graphics :-P

I suggest we don't turn this topic into the whole "PC is better! No X-Box! No...PS3...but we dont get Mass Effect QQ" bull ****. Keep your fanboyism to yourself

I have a gaming PC, but it isn't as wonderfully ready to play games as it used to be. Plus, I already pre-ordered the 360 CE through Amazon.

And, I know I have to transfer licenses, It is Lupus. I forgot about that process, though. Thanks for the reminder.

I actually just had this happen to my xbox at the begining of the month. Sent it around the 7th and should be getting it back this Friday. I was able to get a little extra playtime out of the xbox by quickly closing the disktray or by downloading games to the hard drive. Microsoft didn't charge me for the repair as they only need to replace the disk drive and not send you an entirely new console. If you're skilled with electronics you can buy the specific drive you need through ebay and just replace it yourself.

I replaced my Xbox a few months back and still had all the save files from my harddrive, you'll be fine.

I feel your pain, it was new years day when my X-Box HDD blew a gasket. I could have almost shed a tear. Some of those Mass Effect playthroughs were 6th run on the character. At least I had enough time to make a few more run throughs and get ready for ME 2.
