Why Blood Mages need to bite peoples neck to suck blood if they can suck peoples blood 10 feet away?

I am not opposed to Vampires as long as they are more along the lines of old school vampires. scary, very tough a 'pain' to deal with.

I believe that Vampires in the DA setting are people possessed by hunger demons.

I would like to see some vampires in DA:I, hopefully they are more like the World of Darkness Vampires then the Twilight ones though.

Blood mages could take a few cues from vampire mythology, but I wouldn't want to see stuff like blood sucking.

Would someone who's possessed by hunger demon become a ravenous cannibal?

I would imagine that such a possibility could happen. I mean eating one's own species is 'exotic' maybe the hunger demon wants to expirience what people tast like.

There are previous threads about this.
shrugs.
Friends of Red Jenny may be vampires.
There may be other werewolves independent of the ones you could cure in DAO. Bigger spiders in DAI. Probably other monsters like the one in the Pax demo.
More and different demons/fade monsters .
That's all I know.

I envision Dragon Age vampires as being more like 30 Days of Night vamps. Bestial, ravenous and decidedly un-sexy.

A creature possessed by a hunger demon was described as a vampire on the wiki.

No the Red Jenny vampires wouldn't be beasts.
They would be sophisticated.

The Nosferatu vampires could most definatly work in the setting, but I think a nice little drop of Venture politics could work. Not so much vampires being sexy (I hate that troupe) but I don't see why a hunger possessed person; with an extended lifespan; couldn't maneuver to be a lord or some similar nobel.

I don't attribue the political macinations to be something that only Pride Demons are capable of; after all, it is much easier to feast if you have servants that can bring your food to you, and you have the political and economic power to clean up after yourself.

Forget the Nosferatu and Ventrue.
Tzimisce like vampires, where they can turn people into furniture through blood magic.

Hunger demons are suposed to be only slightly smarter than rage demons, who are pretty dumb

The lore states that, but the hunger demons we've encountered in Awakening and DA2 have been smart enough to plan ambushes and strike deals.

No thanks. I would rather have something original if Bioware is to add new species/creatures.They are creative enough to make something that fits the universe and is interesting.

I think that vampires; or Hunger Demon possesed people if you like; can still be original and new to the setting.

Dragon Age already supports its own twist on Werewolves, Tree Ents, Golems, Goblins/orcs/ogres, dragons, wizards, undead, etc. I would be very interested to see how a vampire could be teated in the setting.

And creepy as all hell.  I could imagine the little girl who was laughing at the end of the quest being found playing in the entrails of someone she killed, or something equally as disturbing - especially given some of the disturbing imagery Bioware has given us in the past, in regards to some of their monsters.

Yeah, I'd love to see vampires in DA.  I don't really mind waiting on that, though.

Creepy, decidedly non-sexy (but not necessarily bestial) vampires would fit right in with DA. However, I think it would be interesting if rather than being demon-possessed, they were a new strain of darkspawn.

We already know that darkspawn eat humanoids. What if a new strain, possibly tied to the Disciples, came into being that drank blood because of an unexpected side effect of drinking Warden blood? They acquire a more "human" appearance, but the Taint they spread is DA specific kind of vampirism.

I also think seeing fey-type creatures or giants would be nice. Fey could be a new development... Rather than "angelic" spirits who attempt to embody the best in the humanoid races or demons that represent the worst traits, fey would be amoral (and unsettling, if not necessarily evil) spirits that represent nature. Sort of like the Sylvans, except more varied. Giants could almost be the same thing, except they form from things like hillsides and huge rock formations.

In the end, we just need more varied monsters.

Well the Fey could be like the World of Darkness: Changling the Lost Fey. Beings of unknowable motivations and goals, apart from the 'game' they play with each other; real Cuthulu stuff.

As for the Vampires, I personally always liked the World of Darkness ritualistic method of siring a new vampire vs. a mortal that is bitten and then becomes a vampire; too much like zombies in that respect.
