I'm really tired of vampires and werewolves. Plenty of other creatures out there.

I envision Dragon Age vampires as being more like 30 Days of Night vamps. Bestial, ravenous and decidedly un-sexy.

The only form of Vampire I'll accept these days.

Reminds me of Soul Reaver's vampires. Especially Melciah's brood.

Yes! This! Cold calculating predators that kill with total efficiency. But if done well I would not mind a Dracula-esqu type of Vampire..So long as of course Bioware stays away from whiny Sparkle freaks, I'll take a more cvilized Vampire...but if Not. ^^^^^^^^^^^^^ This!

Keep that Legacy of Kain out of my Dragon Age.

Also, vampires, when they were first invisioned for stories, were never meant to be super wierd monsters that always stand out when you see them.

I prefer Kate Beckinsdale as a vampire myself.
That black outfit she wore.
Sigh.
Oh, anything like that is out the window .
Not part of the lore.
So...

'Let the right one in' had the best vision of Vampires I've ever seen, traditional, but darker. Best Vampire film I've ever seen. If DA gets Vampires I'd like them like this as opposed to what we see lately.

DA doesn't need Vampires really, but I'm fine with them if done right. Dragon age takes classic monsters and adds its own twist to it,  I mean the Desire Demons are basically just a DA version of a Succubus.

I'd prefer it if they made more original monsters, like the varterral.

if they must delve into folklore for inspiration, I'll take anything BUT vampires.

Aren't Blood mages already fulfilling this role?

Hah, that's the point I was going to make. Blood Mages are Thedas's vampires.

Meh.  People make similar comments all the time.  Thedas' vampires are already named as hunger demons that possess corpses.  This at least make sense.  But blood mages are not undead monsters and they do not consume blood for sustenance, so no, they are not Thedas' vampires, no more so than a medic using leeches to bleed someone would be.

Hunger demons are not vampires.
Blood mages are not vampires.
Demons are evil and can possess the living and the dead, but they're not vampires .
Blood mages aren't vampires .
They're blood mages by choice .
As it is Laidlaw is astute enough to know that and as someone else reported vampires are not part of the lore.
shrugs.

Living people possessed by hunger demons, actually.

Don't the dead possessed by hunger demons turn into the typical zombie?

I really don't see the problem, so long as they're not Twilight Vampires it's fine. If Bioware do them they'll add their own twist to them. I mean we have every other fantasy cliche in the game; dragons, elves, dwarfs, mages, zombies, demons, werewolves ...why not Vampires? Even the Dark Spawn resemble Orcs and Goblins and desire demons are succubus. The only unique thing I can think of are the Qunari. And I still love the game despite the fantasy cliches.

Your implications goes against what Laidlaw reportedly said Stormrunner.
If you want to claim Laidlaw is wrong, then be my guest and do so.

Uh...yes...they were...

Mainstream stories, bro. Not the ones from Eastern Europe that are used to scare little boys into not sucking their thumbs.

Lol. No. They were meant to mingle with humans and live in the shadows without being spotted as vampires.

Says who?  Hollywood and the modern literary tradition perhaps, but not actual folklore about vampires.

Meh, i prefer some deviation from eastern European folklore or their Hollywood counterparts.
