I really don't see the problem, so long as they're not Twilight Vampires it's fine. If Bioware do them they'll add their own twist to them. I mean we have every other fantasy cliche in the game; dragons, elves, dwarfs, mages, zombies, demons, werewolves ...why not Vampires? Even the Dark Spawn resemble Orcs and Goblins and desire demons are succubus. The only unique thing I can think of are the Qunari. And I still love the game despite the fantasy cliches.
Yup, and you can add some Trolls and Chimeras to the mix too.

Actually that depends. The titular vampire of Carmilla (Predating Dracula by a good few decades) was indeed beautiful and seductive, not to mention a lesbian that bit young girl's breasts instead of their necks. She didn't have super strength, but she could drain all the strength from your body with a touch. Also, she loved hot chocolate.Br3ad wrote...
Mainstream stories, bro. Not the ones from Eastern Europe that are used to scare little boys into not sucking their thumbs.Myrkale wrote...

Also, vampires, when they were first invisioned for stories, were never meant to be super wierd monsters that always stand out when you see them.
Uh...yes...they were...
I tend to prefer something more like Dracula though, a creature that appears nominally human but strains the border with the monstrous with his disquieting features. He actually bore more resemblance to the myth, being pale and gaunt with white hair but obtained a facade of youth and a rosy pallor when he fed.
And neither of them burned in sunlight, a tradition owed entirely film.
EDIT: I think I would prefer them to be more on the monstrous side in DA. Most abominations seem to end up like that.

Hats off to the man that brought up the 30 Days of Night demons. Can easily envisage hunger demon vamps just like that.

If they can have werewolves, then they definitely can have vampires.

Next are the demons of hunger. In a living host they become cannibals and vampires, and within the dead they feed upon the living. Theirs are the powers of draining, both of life force and of mana.

Wait. Doesn't that mean there are at least stories of vampires since that's what their basing demons of hunger off of?The Ethereal Writer Redux wrote...
A vampire in DA is just a living non-mage possessed by a Hunger Demon.

You mean like within the lore of the game/Thedas itself?
Well; maybe after all they are drawing a distinction between just straight up cannibals/possessed humans and vampire/possessed humans.
Though they only feed apon the living within dead hosts? Seems vaguely paradoxical there unless I'm misinterpreting it. Or Vampires mean something somewhat different than we normally think of here....

and let me raise him into this

Please ! I will call him Fawkes and I promise I won't feed him with darkspawn meat. He will have a healthy died made from nugs and spring water and I promise I will put my soldiers to clean him at an interval of three days.

Like I said in the Story Prediction thread, I hope there is a side quest that leads the Inquisition to the discovery of the last griffons in Thedas and unlocks griffon mounts for the party.

I wonder if eating darkspawn meat has any effect on a Grey Warden beyond making htem queasy. Apparently animals can undergo the Joining too so you could probably feed a griffon darkspawn :L

I think it makes them gassy and they might face a severe case of indigestion... AND YOU STAY AWAY FROM MY FAWKS, YOU LITTLE EVIL DWARF !!!
You want to experiment with wild animals and The Taint ? Here, take Sir Sigmund Freud.

I think that BW did a very good job with his kind and I believe that he and his cousins are betters suited for fighting darkspawn when there's no Blight + he can go with you in The Deep Roads and scale walls.
I might add that Sigmund is very rude to the soldiers and he even tried to eat Bianca.Varric kinda wants him gone...

I think most of the fantasical monsters proposed, could be introduced into the world simply by explaining it as various demons possessing various more common animals (like lions, wolves, deers etc.).
Pride demon infused jungle cat equals manticore? I could totally get down with that.
Perhaps templars abilities could be particularly potent against such creatures.
