Please, please, please. no vampires. :(
I've had enough of them being everywhere in the last few years, especially in stories they had nothing to do with, I can't stand them anymore.
Anything, but no vampires.

Pfft. You might be sick of vampires, but I'm more sick of zombies. Good God, zombies have been the "hot" thing more than vampires in recent years.

Hmm. I wonder if a zombie vampire is possible. That way, Bioware could tick off folks who are tired of either or both archtypes.

Elven vampire zombie.

Vampires already have pointy ears so what would happen to an elf becoming a vampire? Would their ears grow even longer?

Apparently...

Sweet image! And definitely something I wouldn't really want to run into in the dark. Also, s/he appears to be a messy eater. How uncivilized!

well it's up to Bioware not us. Things should be pretty much locked in stone by now absent technical difficulties . So either we already got vampires aka Friends of Red Jenny, real vampires and not that possessed hunger demon nonsense, or there are none.

Introducing characters would be a problem because when you do that, you need to make room for them in the already-built lore of Dragon Age.

You can't just decide that the world of thedas suddenly has vampires in it. They need enough background so their existence makes sense.

I'm all for variety in mobs, but that could be easier said than done.

Thedas does have vampires in it actually, we just haven't seen them in the series yet.

I'm playing through DAO again and one of the codex entries mentions vampires. They are one of the forms of abominations created by hunger demons possessing a living person. (as a opposed to a corpse, in which case they just become flesh-eating zombies)

Yup, that's the one.

I get tired of repeatedly posting that one codex entry, makes me wonder if I'm the only one who reads them sometimes.... in fact I have posted that in this thread already. and I'm not the only one.

Holy necromancy!  Why didn't you just start a new thread?  Necromancy is a mage spec, not something you guys should be doing to threads that haven't seen the light of day since November.  <_<

sorry but this one annoyes me more then any other...

it's the only commonly recurring one that is just plain wrong. there are vampires in the lore. their old school monsters not twilight whiny emo teenagers.

if you don't like it cope twilight didn't invent vampires... ok I'm done, sorry for any hurt feeling or inconvenience.

uh. He was complaining about necro'ing the thread which you did. Not about vampires possibly being in the game. Although they may be more like vampirism in the real world rather than the typical fanged vampire. As to the codex entry, I remember it now.

I hope you weren't addressing me.  I never read Twlight (never saw the movies either,) started on Anne Rice when I was 10, and saw Lost Boys when I was 8 (when it first hit the theatres.)  As far as I'm concerned, the creatures in Twilight aren't vampires, they are Unseelie court fae, among which do include blood drinkers (the demi-fae.)

Great idea for a thread. I'd love to see the Dragon Age team take inspiration from Canadian and American folklore. Suggestions? Bigfoot, Mothman and Hodag would be a great place to start!

I don't mind vampires. I don't mind if a hunger demon abomination appears as one. I actually like the way that plays into the lore.

I just hope its more "Nosferatu" and less pale pretty boy diva.

My vote for a mythological creature would probably be for a type of abomination based on the Gorgons.

Wasn't the girl in A Maiden in Distress a Vampire/Hunger Demon? (Awakening)

Gorgon would be neat, though I think any kind of Drakaina would be cool. A Lamia type creature would be interesting.

I think it is one of the best fantasy films ever made.

Its sad how inferior the remake was.

Wendigo would be interesting too, but it would still fall under the realm of Hunger Demon. Bigfoot and Hodag would probably just be a creature/monster, Mothman could be a spirit- depending on your interpretation of the myth.

I would guess they don't want vampires in Inquisition.  Or at least the more traditional ones, not just corpses possessed by hunger demons, which is what we've seen so far in Thedas.

I doubt there would ever be playable vampire characters because that would require the player character become a victim of demonic possession.

So in that I think you are safe. Any vampires in DA game are likely to be monsters that you can kill.

was explaining why I posted in a nercoed thread in my last post...

also bioware please label the vampires in DA: I as vampires... in fact beat people over the head with the fact they have always been there. so we stop getting these.
