What's 'fairly damning' is a failure to realize that small touches are important and add up.

I miss nameless Cerberus shuttle pilot #4506. All I had to do was hit the door and he'd get the idea to fly faster.

Haha, yes, they add up all right.

They add up to "we could literally have given all of Steve's shuttle dialog to EDI using Space Bluetooth and changed nothing".

Supporting characters in a story could have been reduced or folded into other characters. Is that a revelation for you of sorts? It's true, in the crude sense of 'the narrative would still function.' It also indicates nothing, since it's true for pretty much any story in existence. It's particularly true for video games such as Mass Effect which offer squadmates who aren't directly involved in the plot, in order to provide for the player making choices about them.

Adaptations create composite characters all the time. Often times they manage to do it very well, such as the highly syncretist way Excalibur treats its source material. But something is nonetheless lost when you do that, -if- it originally served a purpose.

Make Steve just a regular Normandy crew member, working on the bridge. Make the shuttle piloted by an AI that can relay ground information. What is changed? Nothing at all. Steve's story proceeds business as usual.

That's what makes it so laughable when you try and claim that "he's given dialog before almost every mission" (it's actually more like half), as if it actually means something that he is the one to tell you that a landing zone is crawling with husks.

At the risk of being ignorant, are there actualy people dreaming of getting together with a transvestite? Or somehow fancying it?

Or people who wants to play as a transvestite rather thsn the prefered gender? I'm not trying to offend anyone or anything. It's just thst I've never heard of such a preferencd.

I for sure don't, but that'd be a lot more normal than going for robots...

*cough*Joker*cough*

Robot love would be as excentric as taking a Quarian to bed. The human can get some kind of alergic reaction, the Quarian could get a serious reaction, perhaps even die worst case scenario. They can't have children together. I think that is just as unnatural.
I try not to judge but some of the Talimancer fanfiction outther is kind of creepy and disgusting.
A lot creepier than anything Joker says or does in the official content.

Transvestites are a lot different than Transgender...

That said, I've always thought xeno-human relationships and robot-human relationships were screwy ideas. Mostly seems to me like the rule 34 of life. Thank Star Trek for that. Making it ok to bang aliens n' stuff...

An argument between which is less odd, wanting to bang robots, quarians or transvestites? This will end well.

I'm going to kick myself for getting involved in this discussion at all.

But is wanting to have sex with a sentient robot any different than, say, wanting to bang major kusanagi from ghost in the shell?

End of line.
