May be alone on this but I feel the aim-assist in the ME games actual makes my aiming worse.
In ME1 I think there was an option to turn it off but in 2 and 3 it was auto on and there was no way to turn it off even in the Xbox game preferences.
In 2 it liked to follow a foot in front of the enemies while I followed them and if I just slightly moved the curser towards my target it jumped like 10 feet to the left or right. This mostly was and issue with enemies moving left and right. Also when targeting a enemy who is behind another the game likes takes priority on the closer enemy like Swarmers in ME3 instead of the bigger threats.

Anyone who really wants a test on how the aim-assist can screw you over go back to ME2 and play Grunt's recruit mission. You'll get to a area with 2 Turains, 2 Batarians, and 2 rocket troopes in the back. Try to target the rocket troopers first and see how much the game tells you to go after the other 4 guys first and moves your aim for you.

I want it optional so those who do want it can still keep while those who don't need not worry.

There was no Aim assist on the PC.

One of the reasons I prefered the PC and mouse/keyboard.

Hah , i see someone misses the Aim Assist from Mass Effect 1 :)

It's perfectly fine for those who aren't fans of shooters and only play them casual.
