I'm really hoping so, because with everything they could do, only 3 LIs is such a rip off and I think Samara would be great as an option, as long as it wasn't her or a human again. She does have the justicar things going, which is something they haven't done in ME yet, so that's different.

I think as a writer, you'd be stupid NOT to make Samara a LI.  She's a justicar that has given up all earthly posessions in the pursuit of justice and is on (what looks to be) a revenge mission for something tragic that happened in her past.  She's the classic case of damaged goods, that's romance gold for a writer.

That's kind of precisely why I don't want her to be a love interest. It really has been done before. However, I am certain that whichever way they decide to go with her, she'll be one of the most interesting characters in the game. I look forward to meeting her. And of course, the fact that it's been done before doesn't mean it can't be done better. Still, I'm a sceptic by nature. :)

I'm no boy. I'm a girl, and so is my Shep. But your point is a valid one. I see what you mean. :D

On an unrelated note, this could be a more interesting F/F option. Liara never really did it for me, so I always ended up going for Kaidan. While Liara was certainly endearing enough (from time to time she was heartbreakingly cute), she just wasn't quite interesting enough for me to take the time to romance her properly more than once.
Samara seems to be a very interesting character. If she is a romance option, the time may have finally come for my FemShep to broaden her romantic horizon.

Still, I think that it would be somehow more enjoyable to get to know Samara without getting past the "sexual tension" first. Since she seems to be so complex, I think I would prefer to have my PC befriend her without necesarily having something else in mind. From what I've observed, it tends to be easier for people to open up to someone with whom they are physically intimate, and I suppose that I'm hoping that Samara will not be romanceable because I don't want it to be easy to earn her trust. Things tend to seem more precious when you've actually been forced to work for them, no? :)

I'm really more interested in Samara's personality than in her boobs (though I will not deny that they are nice boobs).

Also, why are so many people in the group of "I hope she's not romancable"? Would it hurt your playthrough if she was?

No, but it'd cheapen my perspective of the character. Her theme, her trailer, everything I've seen about her implies to me that she has The Boss (ala Metal Gear Solid 3) levels of bad-ass. Making her a romantic interest for Shepard cheapens that for me. She just seems like more of a motherly/matriarchal figure for him than an equal.

If she dated Captain Anderson that'd be freaking awesome. But Shepard? Not so much.

Samara is pretty great but she's 600 years old and a Justicar and given that every other female companion is between a billion(SZ) and a trillion(Tali) times more amazing. Being so far in the fourth place....or sixth place if you count the two romance ladies from ME1....she really is nothing that desirable.

Maybe to you she isn't. I'd take her over Miranda, Tali, and Subject Zero anyday.

Isn't Ocelot The Boss' kid?

So Samara does do sex! But only with emo Shepard.

I wouldn't say it's necessarily true based off of that... I mean the video was entirely archival footage that was available prior to it's release. It could be the G4 producers making leaps. Though that is unlikely.

Yeah, but my point wasn't that Samara couldn't/shouldn't have children or romance. It was that I wouldn't like it if she had a personal/romantic relationship with a man that is at Shepard's stage of life.

Well, to each's own, if she is a LI (I'm 90% sure she is) then just don't romance her.  The same logic could be applied to once again a m/m LI as I could say that wouldn't mesh with my idea of what Shepard is, but I really wouldn't care if there was one, ME is about having a unique experiance and playing your own game, making your own choices and befriending/romancing who you want. (90% of my playthroughs I have no LI, it just didn't gel with how I saw Shep.)

So basically, if she turns out to be a LI just imagine she isn't and pick the right options in the dialogue tree to avoid it.  I can't stand the idea of romancing Tali but if she is she is, that's fine, I'll just keep my belief that she's kinda my little sister and remove myself from the knowledge that her and shep can get down and dirty *shivers*

I really don't get why old asari have to show off their breasts. Benezia? And now Samara? Hello? Have you women ever heard of covering up? And isn't Samara a justicar and thus refuses to have children? Shouldn't that mean that she'll go out of her way to AVOID attracting sexual attention rather than garner more of it by spilling her breats everywhere?

I'm hoping I'll have the option to ask her this in-game.

Yes I did.  It's extremely suggestive towards a Samara Romance.  :wizard:

Ermm...since when does sex automatically = having children? Maybe you missed the part in ME1 where Liara specifically said Asari can choose if they want to become pregnant or not. Not those exact words, but it's what she said.

Perhaps she uses them in her Justicar work, lol  ya know, getting info, seducing etc...  Asari have full control over either having or not having children mentally so really she isn't in any danger of getting pregnant no matter who she sexes up.

*edit* - damn you beat me to it

Hehe, doubt it. Pretty sure Bioware oversaw what was going to be shown and approved it. I'm 99% sure of that.

I don't see that as inevitable, actually. Both Tali and Samara showed up in that video, and if I remember correctly, we've been told that there will be three love interests for each gender. Samara, Tali, Suze, Miranda = 4 love interests. That's one too much. And aren't SuZe and Miranda already sort of confirmed? Or am I mistaken? Either way, that seems to suggest to me that only one of the two (Tali or Samara) will be romanceable. Which one it is still remains to be seen.

Or did I perhaps miss something?

No really. Tali has a nice personality that is relatable to Shepard on a maturity level. Hence many people liking her and many wanting her to be in a romance. With Samara, they just want her ******.
