Anyone have an idea if there's a review embargo for major reviewers like IGN, Gamespy, GamesRadar, Gamespot, etc.? I'm DYING to read some new reviews. I'm especially interested in IGN's.

So does anyone have an idea when they'll be posted?

Much appreciated!

I'd figure closer to release or even on the day of release. Thats what seems to happen IMO. But I am not exactly and avid searcher, so perhaps I am wrong.

IGN almost always post their big game reviews almost on release day anyway.

I don't see why Bioware would embargo only some companies so close to the release date, and allow others to go about their business.

Chances are the bigger sites and magazines don't really have to worry about drawing in readers at this point, and as such aren't rushing to write reviews on the material until they are good and ready. (Or until right before release.)

teamxbox (part of IGN) said yesterday their review would be up next week so probably early on in the week, they usually do big games a few days before theyre out

The online embargo will be lifted on Jan. 26th in Europe according to a gaming magazine. But the game will be released 2-3 days later here, so I would guess the U.S. online reviews will up during the weekend or on Monday.

We share something in common. I like IGN's reviews for some reason. I also like Game Informer. It doesn;t look like GI will do theirs until the march issue. I have the Feb issue and a review is no where is sight. You might be right on the embargo thing. But we have to wait and see. I suspect IGN's will be up by the weekend, but don't quote me.

Well GI's method might not be useful for those basing a purchase decision off of release date reviews, but it's indicative of the time given to the reviewers to actually play through the game and make a better more thorough review for it (whatever most people might think of their number rating system or gamestop, GI has great reviews and is a great publication, EGM was my favorite before they died and since GI's re-design they've improved by a lot.).

Anytime a magazine has an "exclusive review" there will be an embargo. This gives the magazine time to sell copies. OXM has an exclusive review, so U.S. sites have an embargo. They will probably go up on Sunday or Monday.

Gonna be tough going IGN review-less until Monday. Damn. Ah well. I hope they clear things up by doing an article about when the review will be up, like they did with Fable 2 and a few other games.

Thanks for the replies, guys.
