I'm looking for a good RPG...I played a bit of DAII at a friends once, I enjoyed it but never bought it myself. Seeing as it's dirt cheap now I'd like to get into it...I have a few questions.

1.) I understand the max cap is 50...though you cannot even get close to that normally without XP glitching. Does the DLC add the ability to get to 50 (or at least close to it)

2.) Are all DLCs worth purchasing?

3.) Is the game actually "open-world" (I remember a map of some sort where you could select day or night...?)

4.) Is it a good long game (I remember Mass Effect was over 30 hours the first time I did it)

Thanks in advance!!!

Not really, they add a couple of levels but even so, you'll end up roughly @ level 24-27, depending on how thorough you are and if you have any XP boosting items. There are no respawning enemies, so you can't grind. In short, there simply isn't enough available XP to even get to 30.

IMO, yes. Some people are likely to disagree.

Not open-world in the sense TES games are. The game is divided into specific areas that you access via the map. Day and night sections for the same area are separate. For example, a quest might be available in the Docks during night, but not during day.

4.) Is it a good long game (I remember Mass Effect was over 30 hours the first time I did it)

DA2 is probably 25-40 hours in length.

Well I think Exiled Prince is least important but sebastian has a relationship to the head of the chantry. You also get a good knife and the best shield in the game and a good staff and also meet Leliana if that's important to you.

Legacy is the best dlc in my opinion. It's very fun on it's own.  Spoiler: you have to back track all the way back to get your money's worth when you find the orb.

Mark of the Assassin is also good but it has some optional puzzles and I'm bad at puzzles.

Regarding 4. DAII takes me much longer than ME1, but solid numbers are hard to give. For comparsion, I need 20 hours for ME1, 45 for DA:O, 35 for DAII (all DLCs inclusive)

I picked it up and I'm thoroughly enjoying it so far. I find the characters interesting and the story to be unique. I played DA:O and couldn't get into that one...the combat in this game is way better IMO. I understand DAII gets a lot of hate, but I think it's a very good game so far, 6 hours in.

DA2 loses some of its shine about mid-Act 1, when you realize you've seen the same cave two or three times and just about all the enemies the game will throw at you. Your opinion may also change depending on how you react to some story elements in Act 2 and 3.

But overall, it is a pretty fun game.
