You posted in a public forum. I expressed a desire to understand your work a little more, and my reactions to it. As is common in a forum. I got no explanation - instead I got "if you don't get it, you don't get it." which is a reaction I've heard more than once from "artists" and frankly I've come to learn that it means "I just made stuff and I haven't put enough thought into it to defend it against critics, so let me pull out an excuse that dismisses all questions." the icing on the cake was the thinly veiled hostility towards anyone who questions your "artwork'.



If you don't want reactions, don't post in a public forum.

Public criticism isn't always easy to take but do try to take it with grace. I didn't find humor but irony in the work. Alistair just screamed Captain Obvious to me =)

And yes--I suppose he IS playing captain obvious. And as for the criticism--if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all. Em's posting became irrelevant after he/she made his/her post about how he/she didn't get it. I don't expect you to get it, nor do I at all care if you do or do not.

This is the internet! This is possibly the only place you /can/ say something not nice and get away with it.

And not getting it doesn't make her opinion irrelevant. It just lies on you, the creator, to explain your work. Because if we're going off of personal interpretation well, I honestly can't say that I disagree with... how unfunny it is. C'mon kiddo, stiffen up that upper lip.
