So with all the incoming info over the end of Summer, this new silence on the subject of Dragon Age is just, augh. Please Bioware, just like, show us a face of a new companion. Don't tell us a thing about them, just bam, face.

And watch as the board booms with speculation. Seriously, it's so quiet lately. D:

They're trying not to hit the levels of hype that ME3 and, to a lesser extent, DA2. They learned their lesson.

The ME team meanwhile still hasn't...

And after a wave of information and then radio silence, you don't think that in itself isn't hype? Because I won't deny I'm stoaked for this game. Ugh.

GG Bioware, GG.

Or maybe people here need to do/play something else? Just saying that there's still one whole year before the game's release, and no amount of information will satisfy the ones focusing only on this game.

In fact, too much information will just spoil it for you. I also agree with others who say that they are limiting the amount of hype they raise for the game, so as not to set the bar too high. We all know how "emotional" fans can get if you let them.

Tell that to all the games I've wanted that aren't coming out/have been delayed until 2014. :crying:

The game is a year away from release. They shouldn't be releasing information, IMO. If something isn't cemented in stone then they shouldn't utter a word on it.

Too many games get killed by the hype they try to generate. They proclaim all these great things that they are going to put into a game. Most of which is just "hope" they will fit into the game. Then when crunch time hits half of that stuff is left on the cutting room floor, only to be leave fans asking "where was all that stuff they talked about?"

Nope, I would much rather they remain silent until they start the marketing push a month or so before release.

It won't be that long I expect some more information soon probably at the end of the year and then again in probably February when they might decide to reveal the companions+whose romancable, but after that I don't expect much until they get closer to launch.

They could always try a different approach to information release so there isn't periods of quiet (which I personally don't mind); they can start releasing ONE work a day, ONE single word and when you assemble ALL the words together it will reveal something super impressive about the game!

I wonder if we'll get a little flash game to play before release, as we did prior to DA:O or a download of the character creator as with DA:O and DA2. Probably awhile off still, if either are to occur, but I'd especially like to see them do the character creator as an early release again.

I think we will get a bit of info during the Scandinavian conventions in November, maybe a concept art or a screenshot.

Same here. Except maybe mechanics or other gameplay discussion. Leave the story a mystery.

There is the "Heroes of Dragon Age" mobile game coming out in 2014. I believe that is designed to lead into the game, just like the Dragon Age: Legends social game did for DA2.

I expect more info to start coming out next E3 as they unleash whatever marketing strategy they have cooked up.

I don't mind leaving the story a mystery. I just want to see some new pictures of the world we'll explore. And maybe some more character art, at the very least of characters we already know of.

Heroes of Dragon Age is out now. (Edit) I think its probably the poorest of the three "social games" for Dragon Age, but I doubt I am the intented audience.

My stance on why we have been given all the information we have isn't because they wanted to really give it, but because they had those dates booked for when the game was to be released in Fall 2013, so they went around the con circuit talking about what they could, now that all those obligations are done they are back working on getting the rest of the systems working.

Well, I personally don't want to know ANYTHING about our companions if it can be at all helped.

Knowing who is going to be in your party spoils a lot of the first playthrough in my eyes. If you didn't know Zevran was a companion in DA:O, would it have been a more difficult choice to kill him when you first found him? Would the Viscount's son have been more intriguing if you thought he might be a companion the first time in DA2? Would Daveth, or Jory, or Jowan, or Tamlen been as interesting if foreknowledge hadn't indicated that they weren't "real" companions?

And, in regards to already known companions in DA:I, I believe that is still just Varric and. Cassandra at this point. Yes, we have seen indicators of a Dalish elf (possibly Sera), a Gray Warden (possibly Shroud), the rumored Iron Bull as well as the constant rumors of Cole or Cullen... but I'd like to keep those rumors as rumors if at all possible, regardless of the game's high or low chance of having these characters. Ambiguity before the reveal heightens the mind's perception of what could be possible. And I'd rather find these things out along the way.

There are three confirmed companions and there is a little know about each, but I am not going to talk about the third. With Varic and Cassandra they really haven't even talked much about them.  The reason why we even know as much about them as we do is because the community is bridging the motivations for the characters from Dragon Age 2 and applying it to Dragon Age Inquisition, from what I have seen we have had a little party banter and not much else.  I like the fact they haven't really talked about the new companions either for it helps increase the sense of discovery instead of "oh, I know you you are going to be part of my party soon".
