Tough. Overall...Red Dead Redemption.

Great storytelling, beautiful scenery, amazing atmosphere, beautiful soundtrack, brilliantly acted, a protagonist I really clung to, gameplay, loads of content, and more. Pretty much everything that makes a game great to me was there. Tie that all together with one of my favourite settings, and bam.

I don't know. I guess I'll go with Fallout 3, since if it wasn't for that game I wouldn't even be here.

Elder Scrolls: Oblivion. Truly magical, my first 360 game and I was addicted to it, the open-world graphics, the setting was surreal.

Nothing tops my in-game hours in Oblivion, the music was beautiful and the Shivering Isle's will always be the best dlc I've ever played. I can still remember looking into the sky and seeing all sorts such as galaxies, star formations and more.

Taking nostalgia into account, Mass Effect.

Not taking that into account, I don't think I can pick a fav. There were many great games I played.

Fallout: New Vegas or Mass Effect 2.

Honourable mentions are:
Saints Row 2
Grand Theft Auto V
Deus Ex: Human Revolution
EDIT: Bioshock, first current gen game I played.

Ugh, too difficult. Probably Monster Hunter Tri on the Wii.

With a group of friends online, co-op was just the best. And it had such a brilliant community.

Well.. In my day.....  Actually at that time I wasn't much of a gamer at all, I would play Hitman: Blood Money on occasion but that was about it. My brother who was notorious for buying games based of televison trailers and had bought Fallout 3 because.. I don't even know. I remember laughing when he first played it, he was so pissed.

So Fallout collected dust on the shelf for many months until at one point I guess do to boredom I decided to try the game out, at that point having never played an RPG previously. At first I was just playing out of boredom but eventually I got hooked. And it was this discovery of Fallout 3 that led me to other games not necesarily RPG's but highly regarded like Bioshock, and yes Mass Effect. And that's why I say I wouldn't even be here without Fallout.

It'll still be a few years before this generation is completely finished.

The last PS2 game was only made last November.

That said, Mass Effect 2 is my favorite game of this generation.

The Last of Us. A lot of this generation left a lot to be desired though.

LOL You're doing it wrong.

My favorite game of this console generation may have been Big Bumpin'.

Yeah, I said it. Come at me, bro.

Oh man...

Multiplayer = Black Ops. Had so much fun playing that with friends when it came out. Also the first game I owned when I bought my own Xbox.

Single Player = Dragon Age: Origins. It's such a long game with so much replayability. I know people will hate on this game, but I had a really fun time with it. It's probably not the best game of this gen, but it was definitely my favorite.

There's no way I can pick just one, man. No bloody way!

So, in no particular order:

Red Dead Redemption
TES: Skyrim
Fallout: New Vegas
The Last of Us
Saints Row II
DA:O
Dragon's Dogma

And a lot more I can't think of right now.

Origins does not get hate. Not enough to say that people will hate on it.

Its DA2 that gets that level of hate.

Well, I just meant in terms of what I said. Replayability and game-length.

I think its agreed upon generally enough that DAO had above average replayability. And its hard to deny it had significant game length.

Okay. I was just saying. Just in case anybody did bring it up. People are critical of Bioware games in these parts. Noooow let's not spend too much time being stuck on this.

Generations in gaming are highly subjective at this point. At any rate:

TW2
FO3
Oblivion
SSF4
ME1
ME2
Hard Reset
Arkham City

edit- I simply had to add one of the Arkham games.
