[The Last]

 Scenario: London/Geth/Gold

Once upon a time i entered into a lobby, the leader messaged me saying "equipment or out" . Before you ask he was talking about the Armor, Ammo, and Weapon bonus consumables. I tend to not use those since i top scoreboards anyways and only go with the permanent gear equipment as i dont care for the others. I do put it on when asked however so i did.

So we start the game, the person who asked me to put the consumables on died within a minute of us spawning and then rage quit, afterwards everyone  else died and left, while im left fending for myself against the geth, i didnt care for soloing them so i was both the last one alive and the last one to go, basically wasting 3 consumables within a minute of spawning with no credits gained.

While I understand that some people want others to wear consumable equipment, instances like this is why people don't use consumable equipment on pugs. Demand equipment and don't deliver their end of the bargin which is "seeing/making it to the extraction". 

There are 3 types of players: 

1: Players who don't trust randoms in their squads unless they put on consumables 
2: Players who don't trust randoms enough to wear their consumables
3: Players who just want to play the game and don't care either way about consumables

All 3 types of players have their different experiences with pugs

Personally I am number 3 and more likely to wear equipment in platinum games with people with mics, because in my eyes the only way to see comittment is in the match itself, so if we play a few games and you solid, yeah i'll put on all my shiz so we run em down. I don't care if you wear consumables or not, but you bet i will be looking at your loadout, because in Gold+ the weapon is more of a gamebreaker than the consumable gears are, so no avengers allowed.

My question is, which type of player are you and why?

Consumables or no, I don't trust anybody unless I know they're from BSN.

Avenger is deadly on full-auto though.

Also, I tend to try to not waste consumables if I'm comfortable with the setup or don't feel like trusting the PUGs. So the most i put on for PUG golds is Lvl 1 consumables.

That said, if the PUG loadouts look at least decent and they load up, I'll at least go up to Lvl 2 gear.

I don't care about other using consumables in Gold, but you're deluding yourself if you think they don't make a difference on the scoreboard, or that they don't speed the match up.

Especially an ammo mod ... you should always use one. Almost no one can top a scoreboard without consumables.

BTW, while Geth/London is a b!tch of a matchup, if you are dying on wave 1, then you aren't as good as you think you are

Well I would have to say I'm a player who doesnt trust teammates with no permenant gear or wrong consumables equipt (you have a Harrier. I dont think your SMG rail amp III will help you).

I tend to use consumables most matches whether Gold silver or even bronze (I have 10 lvl1 disrupter rounds why not use them).

imo, if a PUG doesn't put on equipment, it shows a lack of commitment, or a lack of resources.

If you don't think you're going to win, or you lack the tools to succeed, it means you are expecting someone else to pay your way, and that isn't going to be me. If you at least show you're putting real effort into winning, even if you lack the skills to do so, i'll carry you as best as I can. If you expect to just coast off my coattails i'm not going to waste my time with you.

At least on gold, silver is pretty much anything goes.

1: i never said they dont make a diff on the scoreboard, you score a "bit" higher

2: you dont need an ammo mod and I easily top scoreboards w/o consumables, and i never said i died on wave 1, i said the other guys did and i left.

I did say 'almost no one' .. as I am aware there are players who can top score easily without, although I have yet to see anyone with that skill level deliberately not use consumables. They all understand the value and have tons of stuff .. so why intentionally gimp yourself?

And what weapon and mods are you using on your SI that aren't going to benefit from a sizeable damage bonus, or piercing, or debuffing?

Almost every person who has come on this forum and claimed dominant status w/o consumables has been found wanting.

Fair enough .. hey I didn't mean to attack you, PS3 pool is getting small, we could bump into each other sometime.

With the current state of PS3 Gold PUGging (probably the worst ever), I have no doubt you can top scoreboards. But consumables make a far greater difference than a 'bit', and carrying 3 players who are there for the ride takes forever if you aren't equipped.

Also, if you are in a group with good players, you will be outscored significantly if you don't use good consumables

I have 4 accounts and have played many matches with no consumables; try using a Hurricane with an extended barrel and an extended clip with no ammo mod to kill an Atlas, then try the same thing but add an AP mod .. then tells me there's little difference.  (FYI, 1 way I had to visit an ammo box twice, completely emptied my gun 3 times, the other way took 1.5 clips)

BW V with clip and barrel. I never said i couldn't do better with them, just that they are not necessary.  Also, most of the time i do have at least lvl 1 consumables on. That example was just a day when i was being forgetful lol.

OT: I always use consumables (because I've got far more than I could ever possibly use) but I don't care if no-one else in my game uses them. Although my revive priority tends to go to those who equipped something.

Unless having maxed out ammo consumables means that I get a bonus in ME4, why would I save them? And yeah I have way too many to be worried if I don't like the game.

I don't trust people in my plat games who don't put on consumables. I know you don't need them to do well, but with pugs, how can I know that they are committed to the game if they don't put on equipment? If they are too cheap to use anything then they will most likely be too cheap to use medi gels in the game.

Personally, I always equip. It'd be nice if everyone did as well but if they don't it's up to them. The caveat is that there are going to be times when they go down they're going to have to pick themselves up with a medigel because I'm not a very good ambulance service. Fall down in front of me, sure. Fall down in the middle of a Charlie Foxtrot? Well, you should've equipped a consumable.

Yeah, I dropped in on a Jade match with you just the other day. i was using a Quarian Infiltrator with the Raptor

All good man, no offense taken.

Well today I was in a group of good players, all lvl 4 consumables on, me with none, at the end of the match i outscored them, but it was close with second at around 150k and the others had around 120k points, i only outscored second by about 200 points.

No doubt i wuda had higher with consumables, but again, i wuda had a "bit" higher prolly around 10-20k, but that wouldnt change my payout, as well as finding a good team is....rare to say the least. Besides dont really compete for first place, im happy when people manage outscoring me, that means theres less dying and more killing.

As well as, its coop, i shouldn't be carrying 3 people along for the ride in the first place. In that instance consumables would be making a slow run less slow but itd still be slow and it wouldnt be worth it or fun anyways. 

Wave 6 payout is the same as wave 10 payout so if it looks hopeless, may as well cash in at wave 6, if its wave 8, i will start clutching because if the team makes it that far, they are serious as well as i want the payout.

I always use consumables, though the level of them I use is dependent on a few things. If I'm searching for a pug I put on lower end gear in case I drop into a game mid match (I have more than enough gear lying around). I'll switch over to higher end stuff if I actually get into the lobby screen though.

I won't initiate a kick for the lack of consumables (actually anything barring missile glitching and annoying background noise), but I will assume said player isn't fully committed to the match. I won't be going as out of my way to pick them up as I would a player with consumables.

Interesting that the really good players don't spout this kind of BS. I've played with some of them before and every single one use consumables.
