As you say you can look at a guy with consumables and say he is committed

Go in the game and he could turn out the complete opposite of what you believed. In my experience ive had both successful games with people who use and don't use consumables which is why i don't mind.  Basically no matter what you believe you are still taking a chance with that said person in the match.

I don't think that's exactly what Koenig meant.

He wrote that every really good player he has played with used consumables. That's not the same as stating you have to use consumables to be considered really good.

My experience is also similar to Koenig's in that regard, by the way. No excellent players I've met ever skimped on consumables.

Yeah, I dropped in on a Jade match with you just the other day. i was using a Quarian Infiltrator with the Raptor

Lol thanks, I swear i had carpal tunnel after just that one match though. I really enjoy using the CSR on her though. we should play again sometime

I don't think that's exactly what Koenig meant.

He wrote that every really good player he has played with used consumables. That's not the same as stating you have to use consumables to be considered really good.

My experience is also similar to Koenig's in that regard, by the way. No excellent players I've met ever skimped on consumables.



What you said is as i said, a difference in experience with pugs, for example u met people who always use consumables whom happen to be very good, and i met people who don't use consumables happen to be very good.

As well as i said, the people who tend to be good, has a good loadout first, so i look at that. It isnt really the consumables I worry about if im looking at a Reegar X.

If I see no consumables, I assume they won't gel/missile when needed. It's only an assumption, not a fact. I've seen N7 1 people keep themselves alive on platinum, just as I've seen high N7/CP people with consumables do terrible. They only thing I have to go off of pre match is the loadout screen though (unless I wanted to check N7HQ, which I don't). As the match progresses I'll see first hand who can hold their own, and reevaluate. If two people get downed at the same time at separate parts of the map, I have to prioritize one of them. I'm gonna pick the one that appears the most competent at the time.

It doesn't matter how good you are, since consumables have no drawbacks you will always do better with them equipped. The only reasons to not use consumables is because you feel like they are going to waste or you're trying to prove something by not using them. Both suggest a tremendous ego, depending on the difficulty.

A great gun. Very easily manageable, but it's pretty overrated. I'm still a No-Scorpion Club Member. And I hate not having every gun....

If the leader, the host, left the game and you receive a host migration, I'm pretty sure you didn't lose any consumables.

As for myself, I am/was an avid gold player that I can carry players. I use top tier equipment since I have an over abundance that's almost difficult to run out. To be honest, I'm a little annoyed when more experienced players don't use their consumables, but I don't say anything of it to them.

I once had a player calling me out for using equipment since he felt I should "Impress him" by not using or relying on crutch gear.

Also, points are iffy in this game :\\

You are typing out of rage, someone cleared it up for ya, lemme say this, no i don't need them, and i don't think im all badass, but i do top scoreboards without them often, which is why if they end up doing good in the match, im happy i have someone to have my back, just as a person without consumables has an equal chance to do good. With consumables or not you are still flipping a coin with that person in question. If your really good players you talk about are your friends, you already know their skill level hence, no suspicion.

Difficulty level of gold varies by the person, i always use consumables on platinum, cuz platinum is a badass difficulty lol. But gold is just meh, brute <  2 BE's = dead

EDIT: The whole thing about they dont put on consumable = they dont gel is just a false assumption that is placed on people, they can gel more than the person that even slapped on consumables before the match.
