Why is Gold more fun than Plat?

I would like to know what BSN thinks (god help us all) as to why Gold is more fun than platinum. If you think the reverse is true, that's fine, feel free to share why.
One reason I prefer gold is because I like to fight groups of mixed mooks and bosses.

Tbh I haven't been having fun in gold anymore lately. The waves end so fast and its not enough enemies to do anything. I'm thinking about making platinum my prefered difficulty
You must be playing with some really good pugs.

While I consider every character and a majority of weapons to be usable on Plat, I (and most BSNers, I'm sure, despite the bravado) would have difficulty carrying a scrubfest pug group with a lot of builds if things go completely sideways in 8 of the 11 waves.
Unless I'm playing with friends -- which is a rarity these days since most of them have moved on to other games -- I don't feel nearly the freedom to experiment on Plat since there's always a high probability it'll turn into an impromptu solo (but worse, since the spawns will already be hopelessly jacked up by the time everyone bleeds out or ragequits). I don't exactly feel like I'm handcuffed to the 12 most minmaxed builds or anything so dramatic, but I'm also not gonna be running a melee Volguard or Locust QMS.

That means things like crowd control and burst damage actually matter, and not everything is about how much gun DPS you can do against boss level Armor.

Add to that the fact that you aren't essentially being spammed by bosses.Simba501 wrote...

Platinum almost requires squeezing maximum boss/mook killing potential, preferably with some form of aoe and/or stagger out of any given character. Reduces build diversity as has been said and necessitates high dps weapons.
On gold you can mostly play anything and have fun - you can mostly avoid bosses and toy with the mooks - it's with the mooks where most of the fun is to be had. What's more fun - taking down an atlas, or playing with a marauder and two husks?
Boss killing is nothing but filler, boring filler at that - sponges designed to pad out the waves so that we can't break them with powers like lift grenades.

I guess because its enough challenge to be fun but not so much as to make me punch babies.

This is what I saw when I read your post.

I still primarily play gold. The main reason for me is, carrying a group is not particularly stressful on gold. Whereas needing to carry a platinum game can become extremely drawn out and is overly stressful.

Although most good players can make any kit do well on platinum, I think the average platinum player tends to lean on a few select kits. Which becomes redundant.

Any kit is Plat viable... But your choices of weapons will be even more gimped.
Plat is as simple as adding a PPR, Typhoon, Talon, Hurrdurrcane, Claymore, Reegar etc. to any given class.

I can play like a suicidal maniac on gold, charging into spawns etc and not get downed in 0.0001 seconds. I don't care if I die more often, it's more fun to rush the enemy than to play safe and stick to cover and distance. (Always been that way, even in Halo I prefer to run around and find the enemies rather than stay in an area of relative safety/advantage)
CQC FTW.
Truth.
That's also why I hate soloing. I hate kiting/moving backwards/hiding behind a RHA corner.
