gold is boring? I like the challenge of plat.

It's only a challenge if you don't take top tier builds/guns... Even then it's just more kiting/RHA. If you rock infiltrators/grenades and level X URs... Plat is no challenge at all.

Running the melee Human Adept and getting 50 melee kills is far more fun than say... Black Widow/Harrier/grenade spam.

is fun not subjective? so when I have a maxed manifest I'm not supposed to use it? some people like different things.

and claymore>every ur

Your perspective will change in time. I used to think the same as you... Plat all the time, Gold is boring, min/max builds or bust. Then it dawned on me that Plat had become Gold with those builds/weapons, with even less variety.

Then I had more fun doing the HeroicMass style gaming... Making builds/loadouts so terribad, with such huge flaws that it was almost offensive... Then making them work and inducing much lolz in the process. Things like... The Reave-less Justicar, the Warp-less Valkyrie, Cloakless infiltrators, no fitness self detonating Novaguard, etc.

You gotta do something to keep 10 wave horde mode fresh... ROFLstomping gets old after awhile too.

While it takes longer to find a good pug Plat lobby, once you do those players tend to be far more capable.

But... isn't there even MORE noobs in Plat PUG than in Gold?

There are some, yes. However there are also many max or near max manifest players in Plat too. While there are some in Gold, most Gold pugs are still newer players biting off a bit more than they can chew in the chase for more credits.   Usually if you a diligent you will land in a real Plat lobby, it is just not as quick to find those games. I have actually found that I use far more gear trying to play Gold than Plat. This is due to most legit Plat players being more capable, and thus not leaving me in precarious situations as often. Like I said, skill wise, I can solo whatever difficulty I want if I actually enjoyed soloing, but I don't play this game to solo.  I play it to have fun, which I don't particularly consider soloing to be fun.

I prefer Platinum because Gold is to simple. I can carry gold with any kit no problem. It is a challenge to carry 3 PUGs on Platinum.

Gold is usually faster paced, I enjoy mook slayage more than boss killing, I don't like that the gates have almost no duration on Platinum, and Platinum is fiercely imbalanced in terms of character effectiveness while Gold is just pretty imbalanced. Personally, I feel like there's more variety in playstyles I can successfully adopt in Gold.

...of course, I haven't played in quite a while, so this is all just memory.

I can play like a suicidal maniac on gold, charging into spawns etc and not get downed in 0.0001 seconds. I don't care if I die more often, it's more fun to rush the enemy than to play safe and stick to cover and distance. (Always been that way, even in Halo I prefer to run around and find the enemies rather than stay in an area of relative safety/advantage)

CQC FTW.

Absolutely! Where's the fun if you're not skillfully dodging and weaving while doing the business in cqc!

No, your both just scrubs that wear the botb banner and think is cool to camp near the box of shame... if you think is fun doing it on gold- imagine how much more fun it is, doing it against a bunch that can sync kill you. Plat is not just about DPS, the dread that comes from 3 primes at once.

Megabeast, you pleasantly keep surprising me ;D.

I prefer gold more since platinum sums up to taking more damage in fewer hits and enemies having more health.

Obviously, gold's more fun because then you can play with me. I'm not skilled enough for platinum yet :(

I don't have botb, never will. ;)

Also never done the box of shame - when I play I do it properly. And it does devolve into a dps fest, no matter the character - if you can't take things down fast enough you're in trouble, so there's no playing around. Too much armour on most waves. Even the health enemies are beefed up more than is necessary.

3 primes - yeah, hide behind a wall and kite them to death. Personally no fun in that at all.

Health is where the fun is at - you know, so you can play around with effects of powers like pull, cryo blast, lash, singularity and so on.

Edit: Mixed factions is the only fun thing about platinum.

Indeed, I camp the box of shame with my Novaguard and spitfire. My SotS (Scrubbiest of the Scrubs)  banner is MUCH better than that lame old BotB. (The banner depicts Conrad Verner pointing his gun) To get SotS one must complete 200 waves without leaving the box of shame on platinum.

On a more serious note, I really, really  hope that you can fight off a sync kill in the next ME. If it wasn't for insta-kills banshees would be pathetic, I personally find that sync kills make the game artificially more difficult instead of more difficult in a more meaningful, fun way. For example, if I already have my missiles out, why the hell can I not blow that banshee to bits when she grabs me? Why can't a QFI cast Sabotage when she gets grabbed by an Atlas?

There's gotta be a better way to make boss units scary tough without giving them a cheap insta-kill,or a bullet sponge.

Gold's more fun for me 'cause I play the PUG lottery and without 3 strong players to help with plat it's a fail for me. In gold, I'm ok with only one player that looks strong. But, I have less practice in plat -- maybe at some point I'll feel different.

People always tell me that my perspective will change in time... and they are usually wrong. We might just enjoy different things, and that's ok. People have different views.

I like to carry on platinum. It isn't a roflstomp if you pug, as you should know.

That was somewhat of a joke; i joined a lobby and a guy was wearing BotB banner... then he loads up rio, and games starts. For some reason all 3 of them were waiting all the way at the end of the map, waiting for the enemy to come to them from alll the way from across the other side of the map. I was mad because, comon- thats a 40+ min game.

Gold can actually be harder than plat, atleast if it is not agiasnt reapers and you are using a really squishy kit. Guns kill poeple and aliens.

It's pretty hard not to have a good time trying some of these stupid ideas.

I've seen it said that gold's harder, but I've not heard any of the arguments for that viewpoint. It's not proven true in my (limited) experience.

Because there aren't any. Platinum is harder, period. It's a matter of numbers.
