I play with a lot of really good players so gold is actually really boring to me these days.

I have a maxed manifest, so are you all saying I should skip Gold and play Platinum once I've mastered Silver?

Because of missile glitchers coming into your lobby, and you always have that one pug who doesn't vote kick...

A bit less AIU, GJ, TGI and Flamer spammers and almost no MGers. It gets old pretty fast having always the same kits used by pugs.

Gold can actually be harder than plat

And after all this time, people still cling to this...

I've seen it said that gold's harder, but I've not heard any of the arguments for that viewpoint. It's not proven true in my (limited) experience.

Only like two waves could be considered harder, Cerberus wave 9,10,11 on gold is a real bastard if you don't have a good way to kill 4 phantoms at once all the time, but otherwise plat has higher overall difficulty, although gold collectors rival non collectors plat sometimes

Platinum is just boring for me and the boss spam is rather lame. Gold is a bit more lore friendly for me and has a good mix of mooks/bosses. Nevertheless this game is laughably easy on any difficulty.

I prefer the mixing of factions.

Now that's a good point, if there was a version of gold with all four factions working together, presumably 2 enemies from each faction, I'd give it a go, it could make for some interesting situations.

I've never had an issue with the mixed factions of platinum, in fact it's one of the few things about platinum I like, it's just the boss spam that kills the fun for me, I tend to run melee kits a lot, which means I rely on a decent number of mooks to be around to keep my melee synergy bonuses and blood rage going.

That and the reduced effectiveness of pure casters and the restriction on weapon selection due to platinum being a DPS race makes platinum a no-go, I've played gold with a melee speced predator pistol toting ExCGuard before, I couldn't do that on platinum, that's for sure.

You probably could, but you're clearly OP, biower nerf plz.:P

Hey now, lets not give him to much credit!

Platinum pigeon-holes you into using the stuff with the highest DPS. Gold is a little more relaxed, and you can fvck around more, therefore it is what I prefer.

I find platinum much more fun. Gold is much too relaxed, you're under very little pressure. Platinum can get quite hectic and you can easily find yourself under a lot of pressure even on the early waves, but with a strong team, you can have quick, smooth games, so I find it infinitely more enjoyable than gold.

Platinum, as a concept, sounds fun.

What it actually is, however, is a boring DPS race.

This game has too many cheap tricks that makes platinum a rage inducing experience. On Gold it could still happen but less so.

But as many have mentioned, plat is a dps race that is not fun.

The reason I said that is because on gold, you hardly ever have to worry about survival. You can just run wildly around the map destroying spawns with ease. Your only concern is to dish out all the damage that you can, whereas on platinum there is a much bigger emphasis on survival and watching your flanks and managing your medigels and ops packs, because enemies deal more damage on platinum.

I've finally reached a point where I can (pretty much) use all my favourite kits in Gold.

I only have about 5 or 6 kits that I can use well in Plat, and only about 3 or 4 others that I can passably support a team with. The experience lacks variety. for me.

I really think that it just all boils down to personal preference and, to quote Moby, comfort levels.

Platinum feels like a chore to me. Too many big, bullet sponge enemies, it feels like they went for "more challenge" but only ended up with "more grind." And there's less latitude for experimenting around with different weapons, play styles and builds. But that's just my opinion and it's not like I don't occasionally enjoy a bit of plat, it's just that at the end of the day, gold is far less annoying.

Because platinum is a poorly designed mess that pretty much makes all factions identical, thus removing variety, while also making anything that isn't mad deepees pretty much worthless, encouraging you to stay away from suboptimal setups, reducing variety even further.

Platinum only has regular unshielded mooks on wave 1 and then it's all elites and bosses, making things like crowd control utterly useless, blegh.

Worse, it's not even really harder than gold, so as far as actually challenging the players who found gold too easy, it's a big fail too.

The game isn't hard on gold nor platinum, but at least on gold it can be fun.
