I didn't realize someone needed an argument against Synthesis, it implies there can be an argument made to support synthesis.

No argument is necessary, Xilizhra. Synthesis is an utter abomination, end of.

I don't believe in abominations, so you may need to try harder.

They're real, fun to explode them on teammates in MP.

I don't need to try at all.  The OP made a statement; I'm agreeing with it.  You and your fanciful headcanon don't even factor into the equation, so to put it simply - get over yourself.

Shepard Considers Synthesis

C: ...It is not something that can be forced. You are ready, and you may chose it.

S: I get it. It's about love.

C: Yes, it's about... wait, what?

S: I love the galaxy. Everyone. Liara and her scaley delicate features; Ashley with those full pouting lips; Tali and her fantastic curves; Hackett and his strong commanding voice; Jacob and those sculpted protective pecks; Miranda... well... do I really need to elaborate on Miranda?

With Synthesis, I can finally show them all how I feel at once. I'll allow the Crucible's energy to enter me, to fill every fiber of myself with its power, and then at the climax of our sick debased energetic union I'll explode all over the universe.

Huh... I just realised, the entire Asari race!

In one glorious act, I can blast my... "organic energy"... all over THAT!

Yeah, my body is ready, but is my mind...? I just don't know.

C: Well, there's also the Yagh, the Batarian, the Rachni, the ...

S: I don't care if they watch. Where's that damn beam? This is going to be fantastic for everybody!

C: Look, I made a mistake. Clearly Organics are not ready. You showing up here in the chamber -  it was just dumb luck. Maybe you should step away...

Minutes later, Krogans inspect weird green crap covering themselves and think, "WTF?"

Commander Shepard... first name Barney?

Come to think of it, that's quite appropriate and shows exactly what is wrong with Synthesis:  Shepard decides to forego protection.

He effectively gives the entire galaxy a really nasty veneral disease.  "We've all got scale itch now..."

People who dislike Synthesis are merely afraid of change.

if you cannot convince Xilizhra, then clearly you are wrong;)

Indeed.  Hanar clearly doesn't realise that choosing DESTROY requires the greatest change - as it will be the first time in billions of years that the Reapers and the Catalyst do not actively decide and control the fate of galactic civilisation.

Well, genocide is against the law, so in this particular instance, my opinion actually is law. Pleasantly enough.

Clearly, changing the overall makeup of everyone's genes and biology is a much bigger change than destroying the reapers. Destroying the Reapers returns galatic society back to the state that it was at before they arrived.

Genocide is against the law, reapers committed genocide. How would you punish the reapers?

That's sort of like punishing physical concentration camps and not the people running them. And the Catalyst is gone now.

That's odd, I must have missed it when forcibly and irreversibly modifying a person's entire genetic structure became legal.

Try finding that on the books.

Of course, if it's still too much for you, I'm quite certain that uploading oneself into a computer is not illegal.

Try a much more minor alteration to someone's body against their will and see where that lands you. As for uploading yourself, that isn't, but such utter recklessness as is required to do it in those cicrumstances probably is.

I'm sorry, are you now changing your original (flawed) premise to base it on degree of change, rather than change as a whole?

In any case:  LOL, no.  Synthesis is a Reaper idea and a Reaper construct.  The galaxy has been forced to follow Reaper ideas and Reaper constructs for billions of years.  Breaking that cycle is a bigger change than accepting it.

Dude, I was saying that Destroy is hardly a change at all. It's restoring the galaxy to it's previous state. You gotta read closer.

The state where, free from the Reapers' iron thumb, the galaxy can make its own changes in a sea of endless possibility.

I'm hearing tones that seem to boil down to "change for the sake of change", usually a position taken by people who screw up perfectly decent things for no good reason.

i never brought up genocide. I was talking about your opinion on abominations not being real.

Which you have teh right to your opinion but it doesn't make you right. Of course that is my opinion ;)
However, it doesn't hurt to be open to another persons opinion.
