Not looking for tech support so much as moral support.  I have paid for my ME2 CE pre-order but can't currently afford to replace the xbox.  I am seriously crushed right now!  Looks like my CE will remain a paperweight until next month.  Time for a very large glass of wine...  *sigh*.

Well you should have an extended warranty with that unless you tampered with the Xbox in which case there is a way you can fix it, and its not as difficult or as complicated as you think ,,,

It does work, but it doesn't last very long. It could last a day, maybe a week at best.

I am deeply sorry for your loss. Try the towel trick. If that does not work, borrow an xbox from a friend for a week or two and give him something in return or buy ME2 for the PC.

I'm not entirely sure why rat-tailing your x-box would help. Could be fun though.

Sorry to hear about that btw Omega :( I remember mine died last xmas...fortunately, I don't remember there being any particularly decent releases at the time, and I do most of my gaming on a pc anyway :D

I know that feeling, I have been through 3 Xboxs....First one died in Iraq...too much sand and dust I think. Jammed up the CD drive so it wouldn't let me take out the cd. The Second one was stole in my barracks, by my old roommate. the 3rd one I had long enough to RROD. Which I replaced 3 months ago. So yes I know your pain. I had to replace it because it was stolen in the mail, after Microsoft sent it back. Some mail sorter grabed it, got caught shortly afterwards, but Xbox was in peices. So Microsoft sent me a coupon for 150 dollars off my next Xbox.

Towel trick is pretty much a bad idea, unless you've given up all hope of fixing your 360 and are resigned to replacing it, in which case... it couldn't hurt. Aside from that...

Very sorry to hear the news. I had a similar experience with RE5, but I dealt with it. Had it been ME2, I'd have been pretty well crushed.

If for any reason you cant go back to microsoft, theres actually a kit you can order online to open the X-box to remove the X-clamp , also i would advise to remove the heat sink and clean the graphics chip and processor chip and re-applying heat transfer compund the most difficult part is removing the X-clamp, but once you disasembled it putting it back together is easy theres actually a vid on youtube with a female doing it, its really not that hard you just have to be careful because it is electronics

Ahhhh the red ring of death.... I would reccomend that you could brrow a lown and while the 1-2 months wait for your xbox repair.. you might wanna pay back that lown.

It would take one day of repair for since I know how to fix it. Lol

Man, that stinks. Though if you send it in theres a good chance you'll get it back before the 26th. i got the red ring back in october. they got it back to me in like 5 days.

But yeah, I had my box since the first year they were out, no problems while all my friends were getting the red ring. Then comes october 2009. The day Borderlands came out. 5 day weekend from school. Got back from Best Buy, opened my disk tray and find the red ring of death waiting for me. I was crushed.

My only fear is that my box will red ring again before i get a chance to play through me2 at least once.

Towel trick really does work. At first it'll work for about 5 days, but once you've done it alot, it only last about 1.5 days. I should have sent my Xbox off a while ago. Instead i'm forced to do this whole towel trick thing over and over until I beat ME2.

Is it just me or do a lot of Xboxes break just before a lot of game releases?

Are they really that bad because it seem to happen a lot ? Sort of makes me glad I don't own one. ^_^

Oh well, I hope it works out well in the end. It'd be a real downer to miss out on such a good game.

I feel for ya. My last PC died on me smack dab in the middle of Bioshock's campaign. Had to wait until I could afford a new comp to finish the story. D:

My condolences, sell your spleen on the BlackMarket to buy a new 360. The game is worth the sacrifice!

Does it really take that long? As I said, I had mine back within a week.

When my 360 got the ring it took about 3 months for them to send it back :( Trust me, you should just sell your spleen and buy a new 360, it's worth the pain

Thanks for the commiseration. I seem to have lost my proof of purchase but I will still try the warranty route. I live in a small town in northern Alberta so I think turnaround will be a little more than 5 days though.

I am normally not squeamish about cracking open a computer, or a car for that matter and figuring things out, but I have heard some bad stories about xbox hack jobs so I would be leery. I would tackle a carburetor over a motherboard any day.
