Sending it in is a silly process anyway all they do is send you another refurb, its not like they actually repair it ......

Thanks for the commiseration. I seem to have lost my proof of purchase but I will still try the warranty route. I live in a small town in northern Alberta so I think turnaround will be a little more than 5 days though.

I am normally not squeamish about cracking open a computer, or a car for that matter and figuring things out, but I have heard some bad stories about xbox hack jobs so I would be leery. I would tackle a carburetor over a motherboard any day.

To bad cars have motherboards now  instead of  carburetors.

I too feel your pain, I posted elswhere that my HDD burnt out on New years day sending shivers down my spine at all the lost data. My first reaction was "But ME2! I need those ME1 SAVES!".

I promise if I win the X-box at the opening event you can have the spoils. Which I suppose is as likely to help you out as the we towel manuever.

Best of Luck.

What do you mean your HDD burnt out? HDD's can burn out? I'm scared.

If your warranty is kaput, I would seriously try this fix.

I've heard great things about this helping many people. Even if it doesn't work for you, it's definitely worth a try...

Yeah, I'm in Toronto so I doubt mine left the city. Heck, they'd probably ship yours down here anyways, and that would take a while.

That's rough. Man, it's crazy how bad the failure rate is on these things.

umm as long as you registered your console don't need proof of purchase. Microsoft tracks the warrant y time for you.

The turnaround time is a bit longer for us canucks though :) Call in and let them check (they ask serial # I believe).

I'm not in as bad of boat, but I'm kinda taking my chances right now. My 360 barely reads games anymore (1 out of 30 or so, though once it starts to read, it reads till you turn it off), and I in fact have a return policy with Best Buy... I just don't want to lose my saves this close to launch. So I'll probably get the game play it through 1, maybe 2 play throughs, then return my system and start going games from 1 to 2 for every class.

But yeah, RROD is the suck. I've been fortunite enough to never get it, though I've gone through 2 boxes

Not looking for tech support so much as moral support.  I have paid for my ME2 CE pre-order but can't currently afford to replace the xbox.  I am seriously crushed right now!  Looks like my CE will remain a paperweight until next month.  Time for a very large glass of wine...  *sigh*.

Your XBox got Red Ring of Death? Looks like it ate too much chilli LOLOLOLOLOLOLOL.

But seriously I feel your pain, same thing happened to me when I first picked up the original Mass Effect. Seriously as soon as I turned the Xbox on and put the disc in the disc tray. I was lucky however and it was still under warranty so it diddnt cost me anything to get fixed.

However I think Bioware games must be cursed because when I tried to install Dragon Age on my computer it died. At the moment I am waiting for the latest GFX card to drop in price (A friend of mine says it should be soon) before I build a new computer. Luckily I am getting ME2 on Xbox, hopefully it doesnt die again when I try to play it.

Well I don't think that's the technical term, but yes the X-Box booted with one red ring, and an error code saying that my hard drive was causing a problem, HDD comes out X-Box boots fine.

It was sad, I was sad, there was sadness luckily it happened giving me enough time to churn through ME1 a few times again in prep for 2.

This happened to me, but I sent it in because I had my warranty. Here is a website where you can order a book on how to fix it. If you have a credit card that is.

It's just that you referred to her as "the female". I know if I was referred to as the male it would be dehumanizing  to me.

I think he is refering to the fact that you use the term "female".  Comes off as a bit ... clinical.  Some folks might also take offense to the fact that you felt the need to specify that it was a woman.  It is often easy to be misunderstood in text, so I give you the benefit of the doubt on that one. :)

Trust me it was a generalization it was not intended as a slanderous or disrespectful comment , i would have said Guy if it was male, so me saying female was simply stating what sex the person was, it was not intended as a derogatory comment.

I have a way for you to fix it but it requires you open your Xbox 360 and void your warranty. Well I'll copy/paste it right now.

Not fun at all... I'm on pins and needles with mine... and I just got it from MS a few weeks ago (brand new).  The towel trick only works temporarily, if at all.  I feel your pain and hope you find a way to play on or near release.

I find it interesting the you would refer to a man as guy and a woman as female.
