Try your local kijiji or something, anyway find some means to get someone to fix it. People post those kind of ad on kijiji. They come to your house and fix it for like 30 dollors.

I would lend mine to you if you live in southern ontario. I'm getting all the games on PC now and I barely use my 360. Anyway sorry for you and good luck on solving the problem.

know how to make MS fix this absurd problem?

first of all, they should have either done a recall or made the warranties unlimited in time.

they didnt.

so the only way to get MS attention is to stop giving them money for a product that is poor quality.

somehow i have had my 360 for 3-4 years with no problems. but my brother is on his 3rd as well as my friend. how is this acceptable?

im turned off from MS just from the nickel and dime xbox live, i cant imagine what i would do if my 400$ system (yes thats how much i paid) bricked...

so im just about to trade in my 360 and stick with my PC as per usual and keep the PS3 as a sidekick.

so sorry to hear about your luck but im beyond surprised when i hear about these 360s anymore. but somehow im still surprised that MS does nothing about it.

maybe down the road it will come back to bite them when people like me wont put up with their BS business ethics just to play fable and halo. oh and lets not forget how much we love buying fake money to buy overpriced wallpapers and tiny 1" pictures to try and figure out what they are...

odd how any time i purchased MS money i always had some left over. ultimately theyre getting us to pay more than the piece of the overpriced piece of ****e...

rant over, for now.

:crying:Aww. Do you have any nearby friends with Xboxes? I had the same problem twice already but Microsoft fixed it free.

Actually, Mass Effect is pretty much the only thing keeping me from getting a PS3. I have a macbook for computing and it just doesn't make sense for me to sink money into a PC right now, so I guess I am stuck for the time being. Of course, if the beef is with Microsoft, switching to PC really doesn't change much as far as protest goes, unless you are running linux or something other than Windows.

Ouch. I feel your pain. I had RROD when I played Oblivion for the first time last year.... and yes, couldn't replay ME1 or anything.

Could you try to get ME2 for PC?

dont know about the solder part of that link but the fix the female used in the vid is the same one i did.....

Way, to dehumanize her.

what is that supposed to mean

It just that you referred to her as "the female". I know if i was referred to as the male it would be dehumanizing  to me.

Trust me it was a generalization it was not intended as a slanderous or disrespectful comment , i would have said Guy if it was male, so me saying female was simply stating what sex the person was, it was not intended as a derogatory comment.

I find it interesting the you would refer to a man as guy and a woman as female.

Well in the mean time write a love song about it and move on, because i only brandish my club and pull women by the hair to my cave on weekends

Challenge accepted !!!!!!!!

The was a woman I didn’t know

She saved an X-box for the red rings glow

A boy from the future did taint her honor

Most people here would say why bother

I felt the need to set him strait

I got out of this not even a date

The boy from the future give woman a bonk

And drags the home by grabbing there locks

But only on the weekends he says to me

Then give me a challenge I  accepted with glee

Image IPB

So take that

RROD Warranty lasts 3 years. It's a special program. Call their number and tell them you have RROD.

They'll email you a shipping Label. All you'll have to pay is $8 shipping.

It takes about 2 weeks for me to come back, and they'll give you a free month of Xbox Live.

So are you saying a woman is not a female? On top of that is it not possible for a human to be female? A man is indeed a guy. I find it funny that so many people get upset when someone is referred to as their gender when we don't know their name... Or is it that someone would rather be called 'woman' as opposed to 'female'? Either way it is an equivalent word and I do not understand where the issue arises... I would personally be happy if someone called me a male, because at least then I would know they were at least paying enough attention to notice I was indeed a male...

As far as the RROD goes... my condolences... I have been lucky myself, though I barely play mine so I'm sure that has something to do with my 'luck'. However, I know many who have not been as lucky as me... It is quite ridiculous... Definitely wish I had put the money spent on my 360 into my PC instead to make it that much better... Will never buy a console ever again myself.

I
got it somewhere in my last semester of university but the purchase
date is somewhat hazy...  which puts it at just about 3 years,
thereabouts.  Until I posted on this forum, I didn't know that warranty extended beyond 1 year, so I am pleasantly surprised in that regard.  I am guessing by the D:, that this is a long life for an XBox, but I was out of the country for a year, so that may have had something to do with it.

On a different note, I would just like to thank everyone for their sympathies.  I really didn't expect to get much of a response; I just needed an outlet, since cursing loudly and scaring the neighbors wasn't very productive.  Cheers!

Definitely worth it for you to check out on the support site. Just throw in your serial number and you'll know itf it's still in warranty. Had a buddy of mine realize his was like weeks away from the full 3 years. He got it back and sold it for a couple hundred bucks.

Of course... my boss should know my name... Now if some random person on the street said "Excuse me male, where is the closest post office?" I would just think they are a tad bit strange, but not feel dehumanized in the slightest... I am indeed a male :)

I suppose I am a very hard person to insult?

Regardless of  if you felt dehumanized
It is dehumanizing. Man and woman  are terms specific for humans. Male and female however can refer to all animal and even some plant . So by definition calling someone  the male or the female is dehumanizing.

I feel for you mine right now is doing the "Open Tray" error where it doesn't read DVDs anymore. I fixed it once already but after that the heat sink has been working over drive.

So I guess I'll just open it back up again this week. Fortunately I can get disks to work enough to play Bayonetta and finish my last play through on ME 1.

Total Xbox noob here so excuse me in advance. What is the red ring? and what is its cause? I was considering an Xbox until i heard about the red ring and since i build my own PCs which are easily repaired by a visit to Best Buy or the local Computer store i have just built gaming PCs and not bothered with Xbox. In all fairness i first started gaming on the consoles when Atari 2600 was brand new lol.

It's a hardware malfunction. Microsoft is cheap and uses sticky pads, instead of metal, or something to absorb the heat to cover the chips. The chips overheat due to improper protection, and always seem to happen at the most imoprotune times.

Red Ring of Death (RROD is basically a system failure, named for the red lights that appear around the power button to alert you to the error.  I have heard various reasons for this including simple a simple soldering problem, with various fixes shown on youtube.  The old xbox motherboard is prone to a failure rate of about 25%.  However, Xbox has recognized this problem and offers an extended 3 year warranty for this specific issue (error 74).  Newer xboxes apparently have a different motherboard and are much less prone to this problem, or so I am told.

Sending it in is a silly process anyway all they do is send you another refurb, its not like they actually repair it ......

I recommend you buy a time machine and go back to the moment you were going to put money down on a 360 and instead get yourself a nice PC.

In all seriousness though RROD sucks **** though i wouldn't know hehehe....
