Ok. I am super excited to see this movie. It looks just great. I think it will be the best of the X-Men movies.
My favorite so far was First Class, then X1, then tie between X-2 and the Wolverine, then tie between X-3 and Origins Wolverine.

What's Marvel doing? I'm mostly a DC fan comic-wise. Is this their often-suggested plan that they're marginalizing the X-Men since they don't have the movie IP?

Not really, they are also putting X-Men in other comics and even mixed Avenger - X men team (besides Wolverine, that is). Sadly writing is plot dependant, so to move it forward character writing is pathetic. Rogue for instance has joined the "that person is too dangerous to live" ideology and applied it. Current writer is Remender, who thinks deaths left and right are the way to go and from what I´ve read of him also shills characters he likes to the Stu level.

Nowadays I read mostly independents and manga, just 1 Marvel and 3 DC comics. Doesn´t look it´ll change in the near future.

Ah, I see. Cross-overs tend to be wonky in general. I'm a big fan personally of everyone being in their own separate universe and that's that, and that if you're going to have a cross-over universe, it should also be its own thing. So to use a DC example, the JL should have its own continuity where all the super heroes exist in that world, and all the other single hero comics should be standalones with no one else but them being heroes in their world.
