It's called a Stirling Engine. It was invented a long time ago in 1816

When air in the lower chamber is heated it pushed the displacer up and that cranks the piston till the heat source outside the engine stops or dies down.
Conversely if you put it on a block of ice the heat from the top of the chamber pushes the displacer down and it reverses direction due to the bottom being cold
