Do you expect DA:I to mention DLC?

Abd Tallis (if I recall correctly) hinted that she would be back some way.
And the Architect from dragon age awakening. I let him give darkspawn warden blood. I don't know if that was a good choice yet.

They can't make DLC too important, lest they want to anger those who didn't get it.

Yes, OP, they will mention the previous dlc, however it is very unlikely that any of them will be recruitable.
Oh, thanks. I was worried it may be completely forgotten , since as they have said there are so many characters that it would be nearly impossible to see them all , and it seems like dlc characters would be easy to just say they "can't write in to the game."
And it is unlikely, but maybe Sebastian in da2 was an introduction to a definite party member in da:I. (If Anders living is canon, whether he witnessed the chantry exploding or not, he probably knows about it and wants to kill Anders by then)
Or the same for Tallis . I would say Shale, but she seems happy with Wynn, so I wouldn't want to put her through a whole new game.

I don't understand this logic -- how would it anger those who didn't get it? All they have to do is have a default canon from past DLCs that they want to reference in future titles.
Saying they can't make them important is like saying that they can't make events from DA 2 important because not everyone played it. Why would someone who didn't play it get angry or even care exactly?

Gah..your right...my apologies...just awoke from a nap..still rather groggy. To refer to the OP. Yeah, I'm sure will get some sort of build up or resolution to that whole situation. At the very least a refference. Hearing about Sebastian sacking Kirkwall.

I understand your point, but to some people its profiting over something that is important, look at the debates from Mass Effect 3's DLC From Ashes, there were a lot of people saying it was BioWare trying to rip them off because the companion you get was a Prothean, therefore a key part of the story and should have been included in the main game.
Its basically a no-win situation.

It's Highly Probable, yes. I may not actually end up buying it myself, but chances are extremely strong to see upcoming expanded content.Do you expect DA:I to mention DLC?

That being said, I have said I think a great way to drum up support for an upcoming game (in this case, DA:I) would be to have all DLC from the previous game given away for free a few months before the release of the game. This would allow more people to play this content (let's face it - if someone hasn't bought your DLC two years after release, it ain't gonna happen), it would increase interest in the previous games again (resulting in a small spike of sales for a product long past its prime), it would decrease barriers of entry to the series, since people now have a good reason to buy your previous games and it gets people back into the game world and excited right before your new product comes out.
Of course, I've yet to see any game company do this, so what do I know...

With the introduction of the Dragon Keep, it makes it much more easy to allow players who didn't even buy or play the DLCs to register their decisions about it. In that light, it may open the doors for Bioware to reference events that happen in these extra segments, despite only small segments of the fanbase actually playing them.

Technically EA has given away their DLC for free when they removed the Online Pass, all that content is available for free now, BioWare has also given all the promotional tie-in DLC for Dragon Age: Origins and Dragon Age 2 away for free as well.

Not story DLC. So not really the scope of this discussion.

How would they know?
Also remember ME3 where the main events of the DLCs still happened just without Shepard.

Not really giving any myself expectations that it'll happen, but there's a lot of unfinished stories to be told with Sebastian's choices and I'd be happy to see him again to settle some of those what ifs.

The game could operate on a default scenerio that presumes that the DLC was never played. So, for instance, Tallis infiltrated Chateau Haine without Hawke.
If you have and played the DLC, then your canon for that worldstate overrides the default.
Not sure how that would work with Awakening et al though.
