That would be correct if BBCing was a moral choice. However it isn't. Deciding to cheat however is one. And I will criticise people for being all to eager to cheat, especially if their "gotta catch 'em all" mentality is the sole reason for it. It's cheating for immaterial materialism's sake. Having "all the things" is not an express goal of this, or any game. It's to have fun, getting that 100% completion rate is to motivate people to play the game.
There is no reason anyone has to get 100%. You play for as long as you have fun. Because I feel I have to emphasize that part: a game is about "FUN". And if you believe getting everything is fun, good on you, then play the game and get everything.
But cheating is plain wrong. And the reason I criticize people for it is because cheating is a mindset. People that cheat in one game are extremely likely to cheat on other games too. Games where the cheat isn't just beneficial to yourself, but detrimental for other gamers because they have an unfair advantage. My critizism is about fairplay, not about telling people how to enjoy a game.
I don't quite agree. What I consider "fun" in a game is not necessarily the same as you. You might find it fun to do the grind to get all the weapons and get a certain sense of accomplishment from that. I don't...
If I were to visit the empire state building and wanting to get a view from the top. I don't need to take the stairs rather than the elevator for the "proper" enjoyment of the view.
Same with me3. I couldn't care less about the unlocking of weapons to lvl X, it holds no interest for me nor is there any "sport" in it. My enjoyment comes from stuff like doing the perfect twitch headshot, or saving teammates and whatever the gameplay itself entails. I care so little about unlocking that I cannot be arsed to cheat in this game, even if I can.
I cheat in pretty much all my singleplayer games and some multiplayer ones too (though there I play versus bots). It gives me no unfair advantage against other players and is only there to let me have my fun my way.
Cheating and different kinds of cheating might be "wrong" from a certain subjective morale perspektive. One could easily put on another subjective morale perspective and argue that spending hundreds or thousands of hours unlocking stuff the "right" way in a computer game is hundreds of times more morally wrong. Since that time could have been spent working, then donating to charity and thus saving hundreds of lives in the 3rd world.
Though I agree that in a competitive setting cheating is wrong, to me there is very little of this in me3 mp, except for the leaderboards, which in essence could be equally replaced by measuring ones penis with others in the gym showers.
