EDIT: Hacking the mp-manifest is sad and anyone who has done it should feel bad. You all suck you lowsy cheaters.

Disagreed. I already have 600 hours on one platform, I'm not spending another 600 just to get up to speed on another one where ...alternative methods exist.

Well, we'll just have to agree to disagree.

I don't care if people hack their singleplayer-games, that affects only them. When you hack a multiplayer-account, it affects me aswell. I'm nowhere near maxed out manifest, but I have no desire to cheat my way there. The people that have maxed their manifest have done it with hard work or cash and either way deserve the nice toys they have.

I still don't have a Typhoon and every time I see one on the field I get all excited like "one day, oh yes, one day it will be mine." And it'll be mine because I earned it, not because I sold my tv-show to a huge corporation that turned it into an arcade-commercial! Well you get the point. Or don't. I don't care. That's why I wrote this whole pots. Because I don't care.

Aren't both the paying customers and the chating players still subject to the RNG?

Who says I don't agree with your sentiment? The point is everytime I see you post, you're always crying and writing essays no one cares to read, and reporting posts and stuff. This is the first time I've called you up on it.

Well, you obviously felt the need to call me out for my "always crying and writing essays no one cares to read, and reports and stuff" (I am curious about that no one cares to read bit, obviously you did read it after all). If it's not about disagreeing, then its about you being weary of my way of approaching certain situations.

On that account, actually you'd be hardpressed to find much of me complaining/crying/whining/reporting/whatever if you looked through my forum history (if there was one random people could check and assuming you'd go through thousands and thousands of posts, which I, frankly, doubt).

Either way, the simple fact that you thought it necessary to speak out means you have an issue with me.

So I'm suggested we henceforth just ignore each other and thus spare ourselves any sort of confrontation in the future.

I doubt i'll ever max my manifest, but I question the value of doing so anyway. If it's something that happens naturally while you're enjoying the game, that's great.

Pay to win/Grind to Win are both terrible reward systems for a video game. You have to grind in RL that's a given. Why would a space mercenary go to a shop and roll a dice only to not get the gun they wanted. You acquire the hardware for the job.

Grinders can happily get all the guns and experiment and all that fun stuff. People with busy lives that want to enjoy the game and experience its content all the same can watch the youtube vids of grinders using guns and pick the ones they want.

If you pay for loot, then you're just perpetuating a system that runs contrary to good gaming. It's like, there's enough good game to keep people playing, it's just, why put butt sauce on a tasty sandwich.

Bingo! Yup, there's no "value" in maxing your manifest ... you get to kill stuff a bit quicker to get more credits to... erm, hang on... invest in JEPs I guess?

I maxed my manifest ages ago just by blowing the credits I'd got through playing (I think I bought a few packs to use up leftover Bioware Points from buying DLC) - and I still play ME3MP. If you're grinding for credits to max your manifest you're not really playing for fun - so, odds are, you'll quit as soon as you've completed your manifest as "there's nothing left to do" *shrugs*

That being said, with regards to the OP - he said he's got $300 a month entertainment budget (we call it "silly money" in our house) to just blow on any old random crap you feel like... there's nothing wrong with blowing it on random packs for ME3MP, that's what it's set aside for, even though you can just hack the coalesced file to give you a gazillion credits per bronze game.

I grinded out my manifest, and surprise... I had FUN doing it. Had a maxed manifest since the middle of August and I have stilled played the ever living bejeezus out of this game.

I think that the anti-hacking crowd are making a false assumption that one only wants a maxed manifest to have and not actually use the guns. Not that I am ok with hacking, but FFS maxing your manifest takes a stupid long time just to be able to use some guns. There have always been ways to circumvent actually having to unlock things legit, from passwords to having your friends powerlevel you etc. You can still have fun playing the game.

And no, I don't blame the guy for paying for his packs, I applaud him. It's his choice what he wants to do with his money. Purchasable packs were a big (if not the only) reason for the free DLC, so obviously if no one buys them we might not have free DLC next time around.

Ah, BSN.

I could absolutely see putting some money in at the beginning, especially since with SPs and PSPs you're guaranteed Rare items. Guaranteed utility from the game without the grind. But having maxed out everything but UR weapons, I'm not in a position where it would do me any good. What is it, ~8% UR drop rate? Uh-uh.

As for hax... I don't care if people hack any more than whether or not they download music. But trying to make folks feel bad for NOT hacking? C'mon folks. Also know that hacking is most likely against the EUL agreements we all agreed to when buying the game. So if you're ever caught EA could very well decide to go RCAA on your ****.

That would be correct if BBCing was a moral choice. However it isn't. Deciding to cheat however is one. And I will criticise people for being all to eager to cheat, especially if their "gotta catch 'em all" mentality is the sole reason for it. It's cheating for immaterial materialism's sake. Having "all the things" is not an express goal of this, or any game. It's to have fun, getting that 100% completion rate is to motivate people to play the game.

There is no reason anyone has to get 100%. You play for as long as you have fun. Because I feel I have to emphasize that part: a game is about "FUN". And if you believe getting everything is fun, good on you, then play the game and get everything.

I don't quite agree. What I consider "fun" in a game is not necessarily the same as you. You might find it fun to do the grind to get all the weapons and get a certain sense of accomplishment from that. I don't...

If I were to visit the empire state building and wanting to get a view from the top. I don't need to take the stairs rather than the elevator for the "proper" enjoyment of the view.

Same with me3. I couldn't care less about the unlocking of weapons to lvl X, it holds no interest for me nor is there any "sport" in it. My enjoyment comes from stuff like doing the perfect twitch headshot, or saving teammates and whatever the gameplay itself entails. I care so little about unlocking that I cannot be arsed to cheat in this game, even if I can.

I cheat in pretty much all my singleplayer games and some multiplayer ones too (though there I play versus bots). It gives me no unfair advantage against other players and is only there to let me have my fun my way.

Cheating and different kinds of cheating might be "wrong" from a certain subjective morale perspektive. One could easily put on another subjective morale perspective and argue that spending hundreds or thousands of hours unlocking stuff the "right" way in a computer game is hundreds of times more morally wrong. Since that time could have been spent working, then donating to charity and thus saving hundreds of lives in the 3rd world.

Though I agree that in a competitive setting cheating is wrong, to me there is very little of this in me3 mp, except for the leaderboards, which in essence could be equally replaced by measuring ones penis with others in the gym showers.

I think that if I ever max my manifest I'll feel less motivated to play the game, at least after the initial novelty has worn off. No matter how frustrating the RNG store can be, the advancement aspect of the game is one of the things that makes me enjoy it. Hell, I even enjoy the self-imposed advancement I get from promoting and levelling characters.

I've bought SP DLC but never used real money to get MP packs. At most I might have been tempted to get one or two things if there'd been a way to purchase what I wanted, not what the RNG saw fit to give to me. However I don't see anything wrong with what the OP did and if people are still spending money at the store I expect it'll encourage BioWare to invest more time and effort in future multiplayer projects.

Even taking the advancement reward feelings out of the equation I reckon that I'm far too Lawful Netural in my outlook to cheat in a multiplayer game. Given how many people here **** about missile glitching and the like I'm surprised at the numbers who consider credit hacking to be fair game.
