What is this thread about? Too lazy to read through it.
Basically, guy spends 300 bucks to get things he could have gotten for free with a google search and about 15 minutes of his time.
There is plenty of 'hurrr durr cheating is for losers' in this thread, but from what i can see, its mostly console peasants saying that sort of thing.
Yeah, I think that's my cue to abandon this thread entirely, my brain has taken all the pounding it can take, today. I need a drink.

Hmm, I'm not sure how many packs and $ it will take of each type of pack, but here is a good plan of attack. Other folks can jump in with recommendations too, hopefully.mhy_ wrote...
Suppose I were to do this again this coming month. What would a good distribution of packs be? Maybe buy 20 Jumbo equipment, 30 veteran packs ($100) and 70 PSP/AP/RP ($210) ?
1. Buy Jumbo Equipment Packs until you have two of the in-game consumables at 250 each. (NB: I'm talking about medi-gel, cobra missile launchers, ops packs, and thermal clips, not ammo and rail amps and such.)
2. Buy Recruit Packs until you have 255 of all four in-game consumables.
3. Buy Veteran Packs until all of your Uncommon weapons are at Rank X.
4. Buy 99k packs with your remaining allotment of funds. Which of those to buy is the subject of debate around these parts. I think until you max all of your Rares you should just use the packs that focus on the things you're interested in--Reserve Packs for character unlocks, Aresenal Packs for weapons, etc. When I had passed the Veteran Pack stage I went fully into Premium Spectre Packs for a long time, and that worked fine too. Now I do Arsenal Packs and PSPs about equally, trying to get those precious Ultra-Rares.
Once you've finished your flurry of pack-buying, then I recommend using Recruit Packs to top off those in-game consumables at 255 before buying the 99k packs. You'll probably find that there will be some pesky Uncommon gear and weapon mods that just won't unlock all the way for a loooooooong time. Once all of your Uncommons and Rares are maxed then you can probably relax on the "keep in-game consumables at 255" thing, though that's a personal preference.

Also, its not like it helped you all that much either, i have pretty close, if not a better manifest than you with only 120 hours played
people like you are the reason companies put microtransactions in their games

The additional 90 hours I would need to play is a LOT for me. I'm just at 30 hours now, and I feel I've already invested quite heavily (time-wise) in it.
It's worth noting that we have similar manifests. I have 30 hours, and "bought" 100 hours worth of equipment; you have 120 hours. So we both have 120-130 "hours" worth of equipment.

Well, it's your money. But remember, MP support will drop at the end of this year. That's most likely outcome anyway. I don't know, if it was worth it, in case your manifest isn't maxed up until then. I hope that I am wrong though.

You do realize that the microtransactions were the reason that we had free DLC, right?
So that means no flamer if there are no microtransactions. Just sayin'.

it was already in to begin with, its not like the option was placed there right now for the OP's sole use...
this is the way things are going now... no one wants to pay $15 a month for MMO's, so now many are going FTP with micro transitions; companies do have costs they need to cover.
I am someone that doesn't have the time to put in on some MMO's like I used to and will gladly play $$ to get the 'light saber of p0wning' instead of running the same raid in HOPES I get it to drop.
I have the $$ and will do it, I've spent some $$ on packs, nothing near $300-I think probably $15-20 one evening.
I'm looking forward to Skyrim online simply because they are going to pay to play route, one flat fee if you can't pay the $15 a month you don't play, period
I played DaOC for YEARS, sold my high RR account(s) then wanted to get back into it, what did I do, purchase an account.. this is the glory of Capitalism
I personally think reason for the negativity is simply because many wish they could have spent the $$ and can't. Envy is a 4-letter word

It's not something that will go away. More and more game companies will do this. I'm also one of the people that put $20 in for every DLC BioWare came out with. Why not show some support for a game that I play so much?

It does not matter because it is not your money.
Also, I'm not upset, I just felt OP needed to know that he could have achieved the same thing without spending money. Personally, I have better uses for $300. But as long as he enjoys his manifest, whatever.

Without which, we wouldn't have free DLC. Would you rather have the (optional) microtransactions or have to fork over $10 and up everytime a new DLC dropped, without which you couldn't play with your friends who had bought it? Five DLCs for Mass Effect... 50 bones at the least. I would put money on the fact that you haven't paid for 50 dollars worth of microtransactions and yet you have all the DLC. These things cost money, microtransactions pay for them. Microtransactions are not necessarily a bad thing.
