I was in a match a few minutes ago where two people were obviously in an epeen competition about score. We get the activation objective and they don't even bother to come defend at all, let alone do one themselves. Later, we get the drone escort and they're both on the other side of the map with no intention to come help.

I used my mic to call them retards and tell them to come help.
First time I ever called someone names like that in a game.

What is up with not helping on objectives? Go cowboy and score all you want every other wave but at least come do the objectives.

If that happens you just have to evaluate your choices.

1: Suck it up.
2: Can't beat em join em.
3: Alt-tab and leech the rest of the game, appearing only so often as is needed not to get auto-boot.
4: Alt-FU and do something else.

:) You always have choices.

They are a bit on the slow side if they're not doing the objectives. Retard is apropos.

Yeah, I think I went for option 5) Call them retards and urge them help.

P.S.: they did help with the objectives after that and I also got top score which makes it kind of sad really.

Doesn't really make it sad. More so ironic. Life's small uncomfortable ironies always rear their ugly head when we least expect it. I had a similar situation once on a Ghost hack circle, I was getting so peeved with the other teammates that I had to get on the mic and tell them to get their lunkhead asses into the circle and help me. At least your randoms listened, mine didn't. :(

Ah, I feel ya. I don't know what's up with not helping on objectives I get it ALL the time. That's probably why I got ticked off. I'm normally a patient person. Bah!

Next time, don't bother doing em either. They'll eventually realise what's going on, and see the error of their ways.

Works like a charm. Every single time.

I've found that simply reminding them that there's a mission objective is usually enough. I've also had good luck pointing out that killing everything behind the escort drone increases the chances that we have things spawn in front of it. A lot of folks are just running around having fun (I know, right?), and a friendly nudge usually does the job. Of course, having people say, "Oops, sorry," and run back to the hack circle doesn't make for very good threads, either.

I get p.o.'d about this, particular the drone escort (it goes so much faster with 4). If I'm the ONLY one in an escort or hack I've taken to leaving it completely until someone else comes. But, I wonder if it isn't a good strategy for at least one player to hold off a spawn somewhere else? At times it seems like that takes the pressure off players in the escort/hack.

I've gotten to the point where I leave the match, particularly if I'm the only person in the hack circle while the others are running around the map. I figure if I'm not there enabling their idiocy they have to contribute to finishing the match.

Well, I'm "glad" (but not really) that at least I'm not the only one getting this all the time.

Agreed that a polite or friendly reminder may do the trick, but I just had it happen so many times that I was a bit aggravated.

I will also try not doing the objective myself next time. I suppose enabling them is not the best strategy.

Thanks for the replies peeps!

I've had a few matches when other players don't want to help with either the hack or the escort. I stood just outside the circles and waited for someone to show up. (Wish my characters could do that rotating the shoulder/ stretch the neck move Shepard does when he's just standing around in SP.). After the "mission commander" reiterates "get to that drone" for the third time, the Rambos usually clue in.
