I recently picked up DA2 and went to import my Origins character, only to discover that I had lost my end game saves. The latest game save I was able to find was towards the end of Orzammar, just prior to the Landsmeet. I had previously completed the game, made the bargain with Morrigan, and played all the post Archdemon dlc. However, this time round I'm getting impatient to move on to DA2, and also thought about instead having my warden make the final sacrifice. My question is, what if anything will I miss out on in DA2 by not playing Awakenings/Witch Hunt/Golems of Amgarrak?
Also, I'm on XBox, so no save editing etc.
Thanks.
Which, if any, of the DAO dlc decisions carry over to DA2

Not much.
There are three sidequests in DA2 that are generated by a save game that includes Awakening. The first two are fairly minor and relate to the decision you made to either save or burn Amaranthine.
The third quest features a cameo appearance by Nathaniel Howe if he survived Awakening and helped you fight the Mother, but if he doesn't show up, you get another quest in Act 2 as a substitute.
Golems of Amgarrak and Witch Hunt have no impact on DA2. Your ending choice in Witch Hunt might influence Inquisition, but they're going for an alternate method of importing data involving the Dragon Age Keep and holding on to saved data might not be necessary.

Thanks for the quick response. I was slightly concerned there would be no one still about on these boards to answer my questions.
I will probably just skip WH/GoA in that case, as I wasn't that blown away with them the first time through. I'm still in a bit of a quandary about Awakening though, since I haven't actually played it yet. I'm guessing that if my grey warden sacrifices himself he won't be available to import to Awakening. The problem is I romanced Leliana and rp'd my warden as being basically good but ready to make sacrifices when necessary. I'm struggling to come up with justifications as to why my warden would want to open the can of worms that the god child represents (though from a meta-gaming standpoint it seems the more interesting route).

You can import the sacrificed Grey Warden to Awakening, but it basically over-writes the sacrifice and assumes the Warden did the Ritual. In other words, if you want the Warden's sacrifice to be recognized in DA2, don't import to Awakening.
My canon Warden was basically a good person and he did the Ritual. I reckoned that he could do more good alive than dead, and given everything else he had sacrificed, he deserved just that one bit of happiness.

I think I probably will go through with the ritual: from what I recall my Warden was fairly friendly with Morrigan and had no strong feelings towards the Chantry, so perhaps would be willing to risk a re-emergence of the Old Gods. I think part of my problem is I haven't played the game in 2-3 years, and my lore is all a bit rusty.
Thanks for the feedback. No doubt I'll be back on these boards soon when I start DA2.

Be mindful that gameplay in DA2 is quite a bit different than DAO.Pressedcat wrote...
