I did this first time with real ease playing with Player Rogue, Alistair spec. for Shield, Leliana spec. for Ranged and Wynne (and I barely needed her healing at that).
Hold position your party on the rocks, 3 at the back rock and your tank on the middle-ish one.
Use any of the crappy bows you've picked up; shove them on your characters; attack brood mothers.
Most of the Darkspawn that come along are pretty weak, use your most efficient/powerful damage dealer that ISN'T your tank to clean up the Darkspawn.
Tentacles aren't a problem.
Threaten tends to help as most Darkspawn will go for your tank and the tentacles'll crowd around the centre rock (i.e. the one with your tank on). Even if you do step in the 'slime' the tentacles probably wont catch you up before you get out of the 'slime'...

Another variations you could do:
PC - Warrior
Shale (Have Stone Aura Tree Totally completed)
Wynne - focuesed on healing
Morrigan - focused on attack and crowd control
I just finished Broodmother on "Hard". Basically I did a slight variation on the rocks. I kept Morrigan, Wynne, and Shale together on a rock in the back center. Set them on hold position and put Shale into Stone Aura right away. Then as a warrior I just faught off tentacles and enemies myself.
It was a pretty easy fight even on "Hard". I never used a mana or health postion the entire fight. With all the boosts from Stone Aura it was never needed.
I also got the kill shot in the end. It was pretty cool.
The Broodmother died before I was even finished with the 2nd wave of enemies. Morrigan and Wynne were really doing a number on her. I had to run in for the final blow to get the kill shot.
I would imagine this could be done in nightmare just as easy. I have it saved to do the fight any time so I may go back and try it on nightmare.
