Nah, these guys are Tsarists, not communists.

To be fair, the rebel-faction features some imagery reminiscent of the bolsheviks, so an equivalent might be in.

Tough choice between that and space Ottomans, space Imperial Russians and classic space freebooters (loved that latter in Freelancer already way back). Can see myself replaying this game a lot should gameplay be solid as well.

Choice, ain't it grand?

Assuming the gameplay holds up, I foresee many replays. Have you seen their mock up of the character creator?

I was bored over the weekend, so I spent a good while looking up The Mandate, reading up on the lore, watching dev diaries, trailers, etc. and I have gone an psyched myself up for this game. I kept telling myself to not get caught up in the excitement surrounding this title, but the more I read, the more I watched, the more I needed to get this game.

Aside from the sheer level of depth for character creation, ship and space station details, and the amount of diverse choices and factions you can side with the biggest thing I am looking forward to is being able to enjoy all of this with my friends. Despite the release being (at least) a year away, my buddies and I have already started talking about how we want to go about forming our own pirate armada.

The only things that I am concerned about at this point is:

  • Whether my rig will be able to run it.

  • How complex the game will be. I know, I know, I just said that the complexity was one of the things I was excited for, but (for me) there is an almost paradoxical nature to my enjoyment of a game and how complex it is. For example, I love the depth of customization, and sheer amount of options present in games like Crusader Kings 2, or Sword of the Stars 2, but it's so complex that I become overwhelmed trying to play it.  :? I am hoping that the Mandate will be very deep but not so deep as to inaccessible.

I did back when it was first announced - already nicely flavoured. While the absence of certain background-choices can be noted - Osmani, e.g. - although that's not necessarily a deal-breaker given the freedom of allegiance in the game itself.

Another thing: I decided to upgrade my pledge-tier and sent a couple messages via Kickstarter, as suggested by the last update. Been more than a week since and I haven't heard back so far, am I alone with that?

Has anyone seen any Gamescon footage for this game? I saw that the Mandate was on the list of titles being shown off this year, but I've yet to see any gameplay.

It is?  Well I haven't heard anything.

The game is slated to be released next year at this point, so now would be a good time to show it off.

I'm thinking of siding with the Osmani personally.

Who needs stifling tradition and inbred monarchies when you can merge flesh and steel, and become one with your vessel?

What I can't wait to do is to see all the options for creating our Captain's fall from grace. Not something people RP. Rise to power sure, but downfall? That's weird..... but Awesome!
