I was bored over the weekend, so I spent a good while looking up The Mandate, reading up on the lore, watching dev diaries, trailers, etc. and I have gone an psyched myself up for this game. I kept telling myself to not get caught up in the excitement surrounding this title, but the more I read, the more I watched, the more I needed to get this game.
Aside from the sheer level of depth for character creation, ship and space station details, and the amount of diverse choices and factions you can side with the biggest thing I am looking forward to is being able to enjoy all of this with my friends. Despite the release being (at least) a year away, my buddies and I have already started talking about how we want to go about forming our own pirate armada.
The only things that I am concerned about at this point is:
- Whether my rig will be able to run it.
- How complex the game will be. I know, I know, I just said that the complexity was one of the things I was excited for, but (for me) there is an almost paradoxical nature to my enjoyment of a game and how complex it is. For example, I love the depth of customization, and sheer amount of options present in games like Crusader Kings 2, or Sword of the Stars 2, but it's so complex that I become overwhelmed trying to play it.
I am hoping that the Mandate will be very deep but not so deep as to inaccessible.
