I created a mor file for Sigrun a long, long time ago that I used as my PC's face on a Dwarf commoner playthrough recently. Now I'd like to use the face for a Dwarf noble playthrough ( I really like it), but I have been unable to remove the tattoo. I tried to do it with the toolset as well as with NewByPower's Face Replacer mod, but have had no luck. I have removed tattoos from MRH files using the toolset (easy enough), but when I open the mor file using the toolset the data is set up completely differently - can't figure out what I delete/replace to take care of the problem. I've searched high and low both on the internet and in the DAO mod archives on my computer (I have a lot of files), but I cannot find the preset I'm looking for. So, does anybody have any ideas on how to remove this tattoo from the mor file or the saved game that I have? I have my heart set on using this particular face... lol Thanks in advance.

Why not just extract Sigrun's original mrh from the Awakenings information and use that? I am unsure how to alter an .mor file in the toolset, but I know how to remove tattoos on an .mrh.  Since that is the original face you used, you should be able to recreate the face again using her original mrh. (Or a reasonable approximation).

If your question is 'how do I extract a .mrh file from Awakenings?' then you must open the Face.erf File with the toolset and extract the one you want (select it).

Once you get her file, its easy to just remove the tattoo by altering it to another one OR removing all the coloration opacity value to .00.

Then you can use the mor you can create as a PC morph by inserting it into your game save with the toolset OR making an .mop file (change the export settings to 'true' and it will export as an .mop) and insert it in the chargenmorph under female dwarf heads as           <resource name="df_whateveryouwanttonameyourfile.mop"/>.  You can lable the mop anything you want (I called mine sereda) as long as the part between name="df_  and .mop is the name of your mop.  That way you will always have her preset in your game when you want to play another dwarf, and if you keep the tattoo's off her face .mop, you can alter it for a brand or noble in the cc.  The .mop just goes in your override folder (it will export like all .mor's do to the toolsetexport subfolder in the Override and you can leave it there if you wish).

I actually like Dagna's looks, seriously one of the cutest dwarves in Orzammar and used her as my preset for both my Auducan and my Duster.

and the boards here are being uncooperative and not letting me post images.  Will try to post the other one in another post.

and my Duster, Natia

Both based off the same file of Dagna's face in my CC.

I've also used Shianni's face for my elves, and both Leliana and Morrigan for my human females, and Tamlen or Zevran's faces for my male elves by making .mop files for use in the CC.  (In this manner if you have the right textures, you can give them both tattoos AND freckles).

Thank you for the reply, I appreciate it. I didn't use Sigrun's MRH file, I used a preset that I can no longer find and then used it as a morph for Sigrun. So, everything revolves around editing this particular mor file. Oh, well, I made a different that's pretty close to what I want so I guess I'll just live with it. Thanks again.

PS: I did the same regarding female elves and humans - a lot of different decent MRH files to use as a starting point For instance, I created one using Nesiara's file - changed eye shape, a little darker skin, and gave her a Mohawk...amazing how completely different she looks. lol Used it for a Dalish elf (with Merrill's soundset) playthrough.

Okay, not a computer whiz but I DID find this on the net. While the focus of the article is on altering the hairstyle of an .mor, perhaps it can be tweaked to remove tattoos as well? Good Luck, Marakov7. I hope you find the answers you seek.  And I forgot to link it *headdesk* Sorry.  Found the link.

Woohoo! I figured it out...

I copied the Sigrun mor file I have and renamed it df_sigrun (just in case I messed something up). Then I opened the file with the toolset.

1) Go to the section titled "MORPH_NODES"
2) Click on the section titled "2"
3) Click on the section titled "MORP_VECTOR4FPARAM"
4) Click on the section titled "3"
5) In there you'll see "NAME" and just to the right it will say "mml_vTattooParameters"
6) The next line down is titled "VECTOR4F_LIST"
7) The next line down is titled "0" and in the third column over I saw "0,0,0,1"
8) I opened up a different dwarf mor file that didn't have a brand and went down to the aforementioned location.
9) Sure enough, the numbers in the third column were "0,0,0,0"

So, I changed the numbers in the df_sigrun mor file to "0,0,0,0" and saved as df_sigrun2 (just in case). Then I used NewByPower's Face Replacer mod to copy the data from the df_sigrun2 mor file to the save game for my dwarf noble. Then I loaded the save game and voila - the face I wanted (minus the tattoo) was now in place. :)

So, if anybody ever wants to do this...that's how.

It can be easily removed via the PyGFF Editor.

Just zero all the values under vector4f_list as shown: (and remember to save)
