First, I just want to say thank you all for this wonderful thread.
Second, no, having a high N7 does not mean you are skilled, just that you played alot and promote alot.

I Still Say Bioware should have removed this useless feature the moment the first reports of people being kicked from game lobbies because their N7 wasn't high enough started to crop up.

People have good reason to boot players with low N7 from their lobbies. This is exactly what I do. I once ran into a new player with an N7 of 120 using an acolyte with a power amp on the original human adept, this player clearly belonged in silver or bronze so this player was promptly removed from the lobby.

I usually play in lobbies where the combined N7 is at least 120,000. We're willing to take players with lower N7 ranks on a few occasions and we may let them stay, but most of the time we just kick them from our lobbies swiftly. New players or those with really low ranks really shouldn't be playing on platinum.

typically if i find a player with an N7 over ten thousand it ends with a mission wipe if i so much as glance out the window mid-game.

Can't believe this is still going

XFG - Ridiculous and elitist statement, since there are plenty of good players who just don't promote much if at all.

The lower N7 can be 3x better than you, if you kick based only on N7, chances are you aren't worth playing with anyway.

Caldari - all the more reason that XFG's statement is ridiculous

Bottom Line - N7 does not equal skill

Seems like this is the first time you've encountered an xfg post.

I've been at 120 for the longest time...i don't see no reason to promote...if others want to they can have at it, but it clearly does not represent skill. Now i don't consider myself to be an elite player, but I can hold my own.

I have been kicked for my 120 n7 rank at times...i don't get upset, i just go on to tha next one....

You do realise an N7 level of 120 just means they dont bother to promote, calling a level 120 a "New" player is quite frankly an indicator as to how little you know about how the N7 system works, I hate to break this to you but there are players who have been activly playing since the games release who are still at 120.

Also I'm sorry to say this but that last section of your post reeks of Elitist BS

High N7 rating does not equal high skill, but like anything, the more you do it the better you should be at it.  So therefore IMO, it can be a indication of player skill level, but it's certainly not guaranteed.

This is sarcasm or a joke, right?  You'd have to have an average of 30K each and only the top four on global N7 ranking as of this current moment have N7's of  more than 30K.

I'll say it again, you have to frame it with what other information you are presented with and play the odds. If I enter a lobby and it has people with N7's over 1000 and I enter a lobby with N7's under 100 the odds are much higher than the more skillful players (if for no other reason than experience) are in the 1st lobby. In that case higher N7 means higher likely skill for me when evaluating a lobby.

There are always exceptions and the more info you add to the equation the less important N7 becomes. (challenge points, weapon level, load out, class and weapon combo)

I would say that is about 85% of the players, the rest are noobs that love cheating with the rocket glitch and have been spending tons of money on veteran and recruit packs boosting their N7. You have to see the weapon level, which character si using, the equipment...that gives you a lot of info about if that guy is good or not. In platinum lobbies, specially on random lobbies, you have to think about that a lot. Basically, if you see stupid kits like Claymore or Javelin with adepts that can give you an idea about if that guy is good or bad playing games. This is a extreme example but you can see that a lot.

I've joined a party with you into it, and ran into you a few times in pugs before that and didn't get kicked. I call your bluff.

In hindsight I'm actually kinda disappointed. Kick next time plz.

18 months later and people still think n7 and or challenge points are skill related. n7 is correlated to epeen nothing more. Its a co op game no such thing as skill in co op everyone gets the same credits and exp in the end.

Yes.

Meaning: if one player has more promotions than another, the probability of that he's a better player is more than 50%.

I've been trying to educate these people about the ranking system in this game for several months, but they still don't understand how it works. Being at the top of the leaderboards draws some remarkable reactions from most people on here. So as soon as they realised you had an N7 close to 40,000 and over 100,000 challenge points they were overcome by hostility.
