I have an idea about how Salarian ships could look like; just finished painting it. Since we have no Salarian ships in game - I didn't remake their actual looks, obviously. So, I believe this is not a fan-fiction... It's just an idea, and I believe general forum is more appropriate place for it.

EDIT.
Concept evolved based on fans feedback. Thanks everyone for constructive advices :)

And here is the final variant

It's very good, but it feels more to fit System's Alliance then Salarian Union.

Thanks :)

I was trying to create a "masseffectish" ship without turian and human "ship is tapering to its frontal part" design feature. Turian and Human ships have some hull details in common, so I tried to make Salarian ship similar to both human and turian ships.

It looks cool, definitely Mass Effect-like but I wouldn't have said Salarian if I had to guess.

If you look at pictures of sur'kesh, the shroud, or even Salarian weapons like the Venom and Scorpion their designs tend to have a lot of curves and eschew straight-edges as much as possible.

I'd say their designs are probably closer to asari but with more organic shapes and if I had to guess at a color scheme probably bright-white.

I found a fan art of a Salarian ship on google images that looks along the right lines;

Well, I guess it's hard to find any good references with Salarian tech.

I mean, what's there Salarian specific made in Mass Effect?

I feel really bad for Salarian fans, now.

Well, Guanxii is right - Salarian weapons would be a good reference for their ships.

Thanks for the tip, Guanxii :)
When I will be painting Salarian dreadnought, I'll keep Salarian weapons in mind.
...And I guess I'll have to remake the cruiser :)

And judging from this art, I can expect next one will be just as good.

Nope, still fanfiction.

It's very good, but it feels more to fit System's Alliance then Salarian Union.

There is no inherent need to make all alien ship designs completely different from a logical point of view - most our guns, airplanes and such look pretty similar too. If anything, it would be rather odd if there were half a dozen "ideal" but completely different shapes for ships.

Looks way too heavy and angular for a Salarian ship. Salarians are more sleek, streamlined and stealthy. I think a Salarian ship would be mainly curved, with lots of curved shapes.

That's a poor ship concept for a species that relies heavily on stealth and hit and run tactics.

I think it looks amazing, Seival. Just by checking the codex, people will find out cruisers, carriers and dreadnoughts are all big or relatively large ships, by definition. Frigates are considerably smaller than cruisers (and the Normandy fits in this category); smaller vessels seem more appropriate for stealthy missions. Chris L'Étoile himself wrote something about how in the ME universe, the size of the ships does matter a lot in terms of firepower.

Even if one of their most distinguished Salarian units is the STG and they surely have the means for ghost insertions and extractions, that doesn't preclude them from having a navy with some large heavy hitters. According to the Codex and Mass Effect Wiki, they have 16 dreadnoughts.

Looks more like a human ship, too many sharp angles. Salarian vessels, theyre supposed to look oceanic, almost organic. They were never shown in game but theres official concept art tough, I think.

How does a ship look "unstealthy"? Its all about hiding their emmissions.

I think it looks good with the size and placement, I do agree though that you should de-anglular the shape of the ship somthere though.

One thing about the Turian/Human ships, they dn't seem to have details in common, they bloody well seem to be identical. I know it's resources, but still..literally identical?

Simple - you apply what we know about terrestrial stealth vessels
Posted Image, ignore the fact that the detection methods are completely different and arrive at the deduction that stealth spaceships have to look exactly that!

I think it looks very cool OP.

I can understand the criticisms that Salarian designs should look more curved and sleek, but that's an artistic choice rather than some hard and fast rule that must be adhered to. Realistically there would be no reason why Salarian space ships must resemble their buildings. I don't think you can wrong either way, since its just an artistic choice.

As for as the curved and sleek look goes, I think something similar to the Mon Calamari ships from Star Wars wouldn't be bad.

Nice pic OP, but it doesn't give off salarian vibe in my opinion.

Anyone here know about the game Endless Space? The moment I saw Sophon and Pilgrim spaceships design, I was instantly reminded of Mass Effect, Salarians and/or Asari specifically, for some reason.

Those actually look pretty cool. I could see either one as Salarian.

It still looks too heavy, imo. You've got the curves in there, but it still needs to be more streamlined - sleeker. I think white would probably be a good colour aswell, as opposed to a militaristic grey. It reminds me of a Geth ship, tbh.

Maybe make it look aquatic, to fit the actually species themselves. Imagine a dolphin as a space-ship, very streamlined, sleek and fast. Then slap some white paint, bright blue lights and a gun on it and you've got yourself a Salarian ship.

Much better, but it honestly looks more geth than salarian in my eyes, especially color-wise. Personally, when I think salarian I think sleek, white and sterile. Aerodynamic, smooth, like some of the bullet trains used in Japan.
